I wanted a true Indian restaurant and Maharaja delivered. Small buffet, but ample selections. True dishes without mixing in "Mediterranean" so in reality it offered more true Indian dishes. Pricing was not too cheap and was 18.50 with water. So, hits high on the buffet scale. I would go back sometime in the future as the environment was family feel of a small family ran restaurant and they had personalized service. Most guest were Indians, which says a lot. So if i could rate it a 4.5 due to price too high, I would but would say you would not regret. I want start by mentioning the manager Mahdib, she is such a nice welcoming woman. She gave us the best feeling even though we came in 30min before close down. The place looks traditional and also very clean and tidy. Now to the main thing th food..... I know my Indian food and this all the dishes we ordered was very true to the source. Chicken tikka masala- best chicken tikka I ever had. Chicken was not dry and the lovely charcoal taste to it. Sauce was spot on. Lamb- soft like butter yummy! Malai kofta- probably my favorite Indian dish and that was a bit of disappointment. It was not bad. However the kofta(veggie ball) texture was mushy and dense. Sauce spot on. Like to also say something about the chutney they serve us it was so herby and fresh yummmm. Will come back for sure! read more

We are regulars at Maharaja because 1) the food is always really good, 2) the service is friendly and quick, and 3) the atmosphere is like a family restaurant. We usually take out but there are usually a few large tables filled with Indian families and business people enjoying the wonderful food. Everything from appetizers to desserts and all dishes in between are fresh and tasty. I especially like the keema mutter medium (ground lamb and peas) and the Chana masala mild (chickpeas). I've tried the hot but I don't like my head sweating that much! This is a great neighborhood restaurant with always solid food and normal prices. We always have two days of leftovers, too! This is a pleasant little restaurant tucked away in a shopping centre. The interior is one of my favourites, with safron and turmeric coloured walls and quaint lanterns casting a friendly glow. The cuisine is absolutely delicious, with offerings of biryani, curry, and assorted dals. I have quite an affinity for the naan that my diet finds extremely damaging. The proprietor and staff are top notch, always ready to explain something or guide you on your culinary journey through the comprehensive menu. I was jonesing for Indian cuisine today for lunch. This place has been here as long as I remember, but never had a chance to try it. It's a very cozy atmosphere and it wasn't too busy at lunch time. I wanted to order from the menu, but I decided on the lunch buffet instead. They have many different items on the lunch buffet. They have half vegetarian and half non vegetarian. It was very good, but I was sad that Naan bread was out! I love Naan bread! I think it was getting closer to the end of lunch. They had salad, rice, vegetarian/non vegetarian items, condiments and dessert. I'm so glad I tried this place. We ordered the vegetable samosas, filling was yummy, but a little on the small side. For dinner we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo with Naan and a side of rice. Both dishes were bland, lacked a bit of "flavor", chicken was a bit tough (not tender) and servings were small. The rice was good but a bit clumpy, Naan was good. A bit disappointed due to the great reviews but perhaps dining later in the evening the food isn't as fresh. May try it again another time. read more

Great hole in the wall South Asian restaurant. I can't believe we've never come here before!!! I did a quick carry out for goat biriyani and mint chutney with pappadum. All were delicious - biriyani wasn't as spicy as some, but very flavorful. As with most goat recipes, it was full of bones so be aware if you're ordering this. We definitely want to go back for the buffet so we can try more of their dishes! There aren't many tables but all were full the night I stopped in, which is a great sign. read more

Realize there are many choices for Indian food in Plano, but they do it right here! I asked for Butter Chicken and wanted it hot. The gentleman taking my order asked me more than once if I was certain, and each time I assured him I was. Typically Indian restaurants decide on their own what their customers can handle. In t hi s case, he gave me appropriate push back, but I insisted. Boy was it hot! Loved every bite!!!! They also are one if the few (India Palace dies also) Indian restaurants that have the Naan with nuts/raisins in the middle. They all call it something different - believe here it's called Kabul Naan? Either way, they had it and it was great! Lastly, other 2 in minority had tandoori chicken, both saying it was equally as good as my dish. I look forward to going again, and much sooner! read more

Whether it's dine-in, to-go, or catering- they have the best greatest quality with the best ingredients. I highly recommend their Chicken Tikka Masala, which goes great with the rice, naan and raita! Such great food!! Was there for lunch and Arrived 15 minutes before closing. The waitress was very kind and told us no rush no rush and made sure that our lunch was all that we wanted. She came over several times to tell us you don't have to rush will leave the food out and she was just so kind and nice. We will make sure that we arrive on time the next time and there will be a next time because of the great service and food that we experienced.
