Hard cider tasting
Tiffany H.

Great local and place. Patty the cashier was so helpful! She was amazing, there's a back room bar, she let me taste the hard ciders so good. The apple cider donuts are amazing ing. I forgot to take pictures, they are fresh, crispy outside n delicate n airy inside. They make fresh apple slices over a wood burning stove. Great healthy snack.

I've been a fan of Saratoga Apple for quite a few years. Making a point to visit whenever I'm in the area and thrilled with their large selection of freshly picked apples (if I don't have time to pick them myself). Today, the owner, a really nice man, was on hand and when I described the sort of apple I was looking for he highly recommended the ZESTAR apple. It's an early season variety. The flavor is an intense and unique combination of sweet & tart, crispy, white flesh and my new favorite apple! They have a selection of farm-stand fruits, vegetables, some delightfully fragrant freshly baked pies and cider donuts (which people line-up for). The tasting room with beer & cider looks like fun and one of these visits I'll try it out.

Great apple cider donuts. Will definitely come back in the fall. Smelled so good! Other local products available. Pies and apple crisp looked great.

I've been to Saratoga Apple a handful of times, for multiple purposes. None of which has been to pick my own apples. As a side note, I haven't been apple picking for years. It's hard to say why. But I think some of it has to do with the changing climate and how warm it has been during harvest season. Apple picking in short sleeves just kind of feels wrong. My last trip to Saratoga Apple was for the Tour de Cider Donut. Which is funny, because my very first trip to Saratoga Apple was also for the Tour de Cider Donut. While the first outing was underwhelming, the latest visit was fantastic. The apple cider donuts we received were hot and fresh out of the fryer. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and totally delicious. They were well worth the wait in line. In between those cider donut outings, I went to Saratoga Apple for one of the 9 Mile East Farm pop up dinners. Or maybe it was two of them? Regardless, farmer Gordon and his team do fantastic work. Plus now that Saratoga Apple has hard cider, and welcome guest breweries to share some of the tap lines, the place is even better. My only wish is that I lived closer. But this is, without doubt, another rural gem of the Capital Region food scene.

My friend and I were spending the afternoon in downtown Saratoga, but wanted to do something unique so we came here. This is about a 15 minute drive from the city, so it can be easily incorporated with a visit to 'toga. I loved coming here! I left the Capital District in 2014 for the warmer climates of CA & FL, so I haven't experienced any true NY fall activities since 2013 and coming here filled that void. You can also pick apples here, I'm not super into that, but a lot of my friends and acquaintances love doing that each fall. I greatly enjoyed trying the hard cider here, my friend and I split a flight of 4. The stuff that is brewed here was amazing and all of the ciders were fairly light. They also sell it by the pint and for growlers, but this alcohol involved experience was a bit pricey. I had fresh cider donuts from 2 of the 4 orchards I visited while in NY & VT, the ones here were the BEST! We saw signs for live music performances here, so that could be a fun activity to plan for. I would highly recommend this spot to out of towners. It was so fun to soak up the Upstate New York fall vibes here.

I heard so much about Saratoga County. And that this town is very popular for their apple orchards. So, I choose to visit this amazing place name Sarasota Apple, just because of their history. This place been going thru 5 generation already. The place is very interesting and the staff was very kind, friendly, helpful and informative. They also have few apples on a table with their names for you to taste their flavors and found out which one would be your favorite apple. My was the Fuji!!! If you are planning to pick up some apple I will suggest to call them before making the drive there. Apples season I believe start on October. This place is perfect family!!! Picking apples on the season could also become a perfect family tradition!!!

You probably already know Saratoga Apple is the place to go for all kinds of apples, fresh produce, cider doughnuts, pies, apple picking, and of course apple cider. You might even know that recently it is also a great place to go to sample and buy "hard" cider. They make their own "hard" cider. Yes, you must be 21 or older to sample and buy "hard" cider. But did you know that in their tasting/tap room they also sample and sell cider made by other New York State apple growers? And wait for it... They also sample and sell craft beers brewed locally. If you don't want to drive around to the various craft breweries to sample a variety of beers, or to fill your growlers with multiple brews, stop here at Saratoga Apple. On our visit they had beers from Argyle, Shmaltz, Davidson Bros., R. S. Taylor, and Common Roots, all on tap. For "guest" ciders, they offered from West Seneca, NY, a McKenzie's seasonal cider with cinnamon and nutmeg, and a black cherry cider. We actually ended up buying a bottle of Awestruck hard cider with hibiscus and ginger, from Sydney, NY, after sampling it. Just a touch of floweriness with a bit of zing of ginger - really good! They are open year round.

Great place to go apple picking! $20 for half of a bushel in case you were wondering. Large selection of trees to pick from and we loved the wagon that brought us to and from the picking area. Inside you can buy coffee, pre-picked apples and of course cider donuts!!! We have came here for years and will continue to.

Farm stand & tasting room with beer & cider samples and farm fresh dinners on Friday/Saturday evenings. We arrived around 5:15pm and browsed the market before wandering back to the tasting room where we were invited to seat ourselves. Drinks were purchased separately from farm food- but you can easily test your balancing skills by grabbing drinks from the bar and taking them to your table. Our evening featured BLTs, ELTs (eggplant) and Corn Chowder along with a salsa and eggplant hummus dip. Everything was tasty- and the grilled corn may have picked up some bacon flavor from the grill which actually made it a little tastier. They were a little light on staffing and use of fly paper (but it is a farm- so... expected), but the casual atmosphere, good breeze outside, and friendly staff made up for any delays in service.

Still love this place. Brought friends from out of town so that they could indulge in the cider donuts. And, of course, peruse the store and buy some apples...and/or some of the other interesting items (honey, locally grown produce, maple syrup, jams, jellies, pies, cookies...etc.). And...now they have hard cider! There are 2 different kinds - one that they brew onsite and the other that is brewed elsewhere (but with their apples). I didn't get a chance to taste the cider varieties but my friends preferred the one that was brewed elsewhere. You can also play the piano that has a very welcoming sign to play it prominently displayed.

My family and I came here one rainy fall day as a recommendation from a loowner at Rustic Barn Campground and it was still absolutely perfect. We purchased a bag to keep the apples in and waited for the tractor ride to bring us to the orchard. Our 7 year old had the BEST time running through the rows of trees, searching for the best ones. Once we came back to the farmer's market, we were welcomed with the intoxicating sent of fresh, hot apple cider donuts. They have an amazing array of fresh produce, vegetables, and fruit; open year round. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be back as often as possible!

The line for the donuts is long but that's to be expected at a FAMILY run establishment. They are not big like other places near by but in my opinion it's the best. The prices are much better. The staff was very friendly helping me select the right apples I wanted. I used to go to a place nearby but I'll stick with McWhorter's from now on. I hope to pick my own this year. My friend went last weekend and said there was a great selection and the prices were reasonable compared to others. Try McWhorter's and you won't be disappointed!!

Then, the apples we wanted required us to get back in our cars and drive a mile down the road. All of the apples were small and green, but I'm hoping that's just because we came on 10/1... We then came back to stand in line for donuts and we waited 1 hour and 38 minutes (I timed) for 12 donuts. Absolutely ridiculous. Then to tap it all off, one of the parking guys told us that we took a wrong turn and we avoided "4 signs saying wrong way" and "take your business elsewhere if you can't learn to read." His attitude was disgusting which is sad because he gave two other cars the same rudeness in front of us. I'll happily never come here again!! : )

Next to the register was a small package wrapped in red & white string, labeled "Bonnie's Uncommon Fruitcake." I've been a sucker for trying fruitcakes ever since I had my first slice of Freihofer's Fruitcake over seventy years ago. Here was a locally baked fruitcake with no difficult to pronounce or preservative ingredients. That definitely made it "Uncommon." Pecans, dates, candied fruit (cherries, pineapple), eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. That's it! I thought it tasted delicious. It was not overly sweet, had a good amount of nuts and candied fruit, and there was minimal cake (flour) holding it all together perfectly. I don't know where else you might be able to find this delicious fruitcake, but not to worry. Bonnie Nicolosi provided the following information on the fruitcake for you to contact her. An absolutely incredible CSA!…read more The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. They go out of their way, even on busy days, to answer any questions you have about the produce, the farm, or anything else about the area that you want to know. They keep the place looking great all season long (both the "you pick" fields and the indoor store. The most attractive thing about this farm share upon first glance was the great hours. You can go Saturdays from 10-3, and W-F from 1-630PM to pick up your share. These hours are unbeatable compared to other CSAs in Western Mass and they make it easier for busy people with odd work schedules to participate, which I appreciate. I also appreciate that they have THREE farm share sizes to chose from. I strongly recommend getting the largest one, and getting a buddy (or buddies) and sharing it, it is a great deal and a ton of produce! The prices and how everything works is clearly spelled out on their website so you can check it out before you head there. The produce selection is also pretty awesome. We are never bored. My favorite part about farm shares is that it forces you to eat way more vegetables than you probably would otherwise, and it also forces you to be creative with recipes and explore new dishes to cook. The U-Pick component is also a lot of fun, especially if you have kiddos. The current U-Pick selection is quite robust, unlike other farm shares where you just pick a handful of items and you're out. The fresh herbs alone are enough to make the U-pick worth every ounce of sweat required to pick them on a hot summer day. Finally, I must comment on the view. I attached some pictures to make that point. Being at the base of Mt Tom provides beautiful views as you are out in the field picking produce. It definitely makes you stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and smile. I strongly recommend this place!
