Their fresh apple cider donuts are delicious. I ordered them without the sugar and they gave them…read moreto me fresh off the line. They were hot and they were amazing! We ate the whole bag in the parking lot. I had to go back and get more to bring home. We went there for apple picking and I have to say their per person bag requirement kind of caught me off guard. I've been to other places where you can buy a bag or as many bags as you want to go pick apples but this one requires every single person to purchase a bag. A peck of apples is $14. So you can imagine if you have a bunch of kids over their age requirement and have to buy a bag for each kid, it's very expensive and you get more apples than you could possibly eat. We go for the experience and usually fill a bushel bag or two. I did not like that. It was the reason why we did not go to Bowman's. They got us anyway. The store was filled with fresh vegetables and apples and all kinds of things you could purchase. Breads, maple syrup, soup mixes. I would come here just to shop! There was a live music, which really set the tone for a beautiful fall day. We bought some cute bucket hats from a vendor out front. The staff was super friendly too!

Incredibly fun spot that is also surprisingly diverse--particularly during Apple season, of course…read more But even off-season, you can shop year round at their farm market and/or enjoy their very cool taproom (cider-forward, natch, but some solid local beers as well). The farm market is amazing, with excellent produce and local products you'd expect at a market such as jellies, and of course some excellent cider donuts. They work hard to make visiting here a destination, particularly on weekends, with live music for adults and other events, and of course apple picking, mazes and other fun kid-friendly activities. The apple picking itself is a bit hit-and-miss--a lot of spots can be sparse--perhaps a victim of their own success. Not always the best yield here, but then you mostly go for the experience, right?

What a wonderful addition to the Schuylerville/Saratoga area! I've been to the Old Saratoga…read moreMercantile several times since they opened and always find something new and interesting. My first visit was just before the holidays of 2017, so several gifts were purchased for out of town friends that love local Northeast/NY stuff. Syrup, honey and local crafts were exactly what we wanted. Score!! But....there's so much more! Fresh dairy, eggs, produce and other items from many local farms are available. Recently, they started carrying CBD products and are always adding new items. A lovely young family runs the store. They will answer any questions graciously and thoroughly. I always enjoy stopping in to OSM.

Great, great store! The woman who owns the place is very, very knowledgeable about the products…read morethat she sells. If she is not satisfied, she will not have the product in her store. I've been there many, many time throughout the past couple of years. I purchased a Thanksgiving Turkey from her which you have to order way in advance and pick it up within a certain time. In my 70 plus years on this earth, this was the best damn turkey I ever had. If you are concerned about what you put in your body, go to Old Saratoga Mercantile. Christine (owner) stands by her product and she is there all the time. I know where my food comes from. Now she carries Seafood. Go there, you won't be disappointed!

I needed a few random items for a stew that I was planning on making today: broth, tomato paste,…read moremushrooms and potatoes. I happened to be in town for an eye doctor's appointment... and I didn't feel like driving to Greenwich or Saratoga for just a few items. This was my first visit to Byron's; it's bigger inside than I anticipated...but it has the feel of an old school, slightly dilapidated, hometown grocery store. There was a lovely smell of fresh baked bread wafting throughout. So, I grabbed a warm mini loaf of the Italian bread thanks to my olfactory senses taking over. The produce section is small as are the meat and bread sections. Plenty of pre packaged snacks and other junky foods to choose from...as well as various household items and greeting cards. There's a lottery machine near the entrance for all scratch off and lotto needs. There's a small parking lot that usually has spots available-it is designated specifically for Byron's as well.

Overpriced, but useful if you're in a hurry for a couple quick items. Prices are very high for the…read moremost part. Most of the stock is the usual prepared, high-sodium stuff, TV dinners, etc. The store is definitely needed in Schuylerville, and the management, Byron, always supports local sports teams, so they are good guys. One thing I find annoying is the threatening sign they post in their small parking lot, "PARKING FOR BYRON'S ONLY - ALL OTHERS WILL BE CHARGED $20".
