This was our first trip to the area so I bought food to cook from home, and left a few meals out thinking we would eat at a nearby restaurant while checking out the area. At the time of the trip there wasn't any snow or predictions for snow where we lived in New York City, so I was surprised the day of our check in when we passed the outskirts of Albany and saw snow. Long story short, it was very cold, it snowed during our trip, and thankfully we were in a lake house with amazing views and large windows. We didn't want to go anywhere, but needed to venture to the store for more food. We found everything that we needed to sustain us for the remaining days. We don't eat meat so I don't know if they had chicken, beef etc., but we pulled what we needed from the shelves and frozen sections. Employees were super friendly. It's a small lake town, everyone waived as we passed them by which was refreshing. This was the only grocery store within the immediate vicinity.

It's one of two sub places I can think of along route 9 and honestly it's hard for me to pick which I like better..but Harris sure was delicious. Walking in there is definitely a general store feel. They have a cooler with ice cream, lots of snack items, and some pantry staples. They also have a decent part of the store dedicated to Adirondack souvenir items...a good tourist stop for a memento without dealing with parking hassle in Lake George. The woman working was very friendly and wrote down both sub orders for my brother and I and they were made quickly and we were home in no time eating them on the patio. The bread is soft and the veggies were fresh. Not being a meat eater I did cheese and veggie only (american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo) and the portion was still great. My brother who did turkey had quite a bit of meat on his...not bad for the price ~$6-7 each. Harris will definitely be a must stop lunch for me the next time I'm in the area...great to pick up if you're on the way to the beach or for a hike.

They also sell vacuum packed pasta with seasoning in it. In the fridge you can find frozen sausages. The salami is priced based on the weight which is determined at the counter. According to yelp app, you get free item for purchase over $15 (I forgot what it was) but I was told that is an old item so it was not available. The store keeper was very nice to give me a pack of olives.

We called to try and find out who the gift was from so we could thank them - got an answering machine in the middle of the day. Three days later they still can't be bothered to return our call. Package was shipped with a cold pack but contents were actually hot when the box arrived. No packing slip was enclosed but based on products on the website it appears we likely were missing an item. Can't be sure since they don't answer the phone.

Now as soon as I opened up the big clam shell container and lifted half of the Philly???????? I knew. "Yup"!!!, I said to my wife... "this is going to be a 10"!!! I could tell just by looking at it! The cheese was perfectly melted within and around the steak! Yup, I could tell. 1st bite: I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! A small portion of the overflowing Ribeye and Cheddar Cheese dripped down towards the bottom of the clamshell container....with a little moisture of the melted Ribeye fat. My 2nd bite was: "OhMyGod - OhMYGod"!!!!! "5 Stars", I said. "A TEN"!!!!!!!!! The flavor!!! The texture!!!! The 'melt in your mouth feel'! Perfection!!! And the fries? Let's not forget the fries! I had the dark roast, black no sugar. It was one of the best coffee I ever had. Purchased some bread and two plain donuts. Sat outside on the rocking chairs and enjoyed my coffee and donuts. We'll be coming back there again. Lover the place!
