Sara's is a good local restaurant. The food is good but some of their recipes are different than you might expect. Examples are their Caesar salad and the chicken marsala. Service is excellent and the staff very friendly. Overall not much on ambience. I was so disappointed I had to make a yelp account to review this establishment. First and foremost the food was amazing, the kitchen staff seemed very lively and made all the food with love and passion. The person waiting our table was also very respectful and had excellent service with me and my wife. Our issue was with the owner of the restaurant and the way she was treating her employees. While me and my wife were waiting on the food I heard at least 2 loud altercations between her and other employees. She seemed to just bark orders at everyone and have no respect for anyone working at any station. I could hear her loud snarky comments from the lobby and it made me feel sympathy for anyone working under her. As an ex kitchen manager I held the well being and respect of my staff over anything. I was grateful to have them there and never wasted an opportunity to highlight their improvements. This lady who we later got confirmation from a staff member was the owner and was clearly not respecting anyone in that kitchen. My wife saw an interaction between her and a customer, where I believe they were unhappy with their food. She proceeded to be extremely passive aggressive to the customer and flushed anger towards the cook when she learned the food was made incorrectly. Thumbs up to everyone that prepared our meal but seeing the manager/owners tone and attitude towards her employees sickens me. My family were routine customers of big apple some time ago and I wanted to come try it out under new ownership but was met with disappointment when seeing the immaturity of new authority. If you are looking to try this spot out, I would be cautious and avoid a sour altercation from the childish owner. read more

Amazing pizza, amazing garlic knots. Staff was a bit slow but they were so friendly so there was a decent balance. Also, they ran out of spinach for our pizza, but added pepperoni (asked us first), so all was good. Wasn't the best New York style pizza I've had, but it was pretty amazing. If you're looking for good pizza and garlic knots, I recommend this place. We will be returning for sure. read more

The pizza and lasagna were very tasty. The service was not good. The lady asked if we needed another minute and didn't come back for a long time maybe 15 mins. The appetizers were smalls portions 6 poppers, 6 onion rings, and maybe 15 small fried mushrooms in an order. Took over an hour to get our main entree. Just two burgers, 1 pizza, and a lasagna. Seemed like they prioritized online orders over in person which is odd. The waitress seemed like she had better things to do than wait our table. My burger was decent but they didn't ask what cook I wanted and I suspect it was premade or frozen patty very firm. Inside of the place is small but cozy. There is art on the wall for sale. This restaurant was highly recommended and I'm so glad my wife and I took the drive to enjoy the food in person. Appetizer: We ordered the pepperoni rolls which consisted of 4 large rolls filled with tasty cheese and pepperoni. It came with a side of delicious red sauce (assuming the pizza sauce). Entree: We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza which was perfectly cooked and "packed a punch" with incredible flavor with every bite! The positive: Many options on the menu! Great food and good prices. The negative: It is a little drive over the river from downtown New Bern. Be careful turning in and leaving the restaurant, as people tend to speed. We had take-out pizza by the slice and there was nothing special about it. It was rather greasy and the crust wasn't crispy, but soft in the middle and tough around the edges. As for the service, they forgot to include one of the slices, so I had to go back to get it, fortunately just a few minutes drive. Sara's is one of the few restaurants on the north side of the river and gets business because of its proximity to Fairfield Harbour. But if you have the time and want better pizza, drive into New Bern, where there are more choices. read more

We've ordered from here -delivery- twice and both times I was unimpressed. The second time was the worst! We tried again because the first time was so-so. The second time, The food was eh and the delivery service was lengthy. We were staying less than 5 miles from the restaurant and it took over 90 minutes to be delivered and it wasn't even a Friday or Saturday. When I called to ask what the hold up was the woman answered with "We're closed!" I had to interrupt her before she hung up to let her know I was still waiting for a delivery. Once we received the food the wings were barely covered with sauce and the pizza proportions seemed off - too much cheese, not enough sauce. The garlic knots were doughy and just covered in congealed butter - super greasy and slightly gross honestly. I won't give a third try - just not worth it. read more

Our server was very knowledgeable about their items plus she was fun and personable. The food came promptly at the correct temperature. The beer and wine lists were limited but a bottle of "grocery store" brand chardonnay was only $17.99 unlike many restaurants that will charge upwards of $30 for a type you can purchase for $9 from the grocery. We enjoyed our meals and opted for the cannolis that were offered with my Yelp check in for our dessert. SMART move--we went back the next afternoon to get a to go order of cannoli. DEELISH! There is ample parking on site with easy exit onto the highway leading to the restaurant. In such a remote area, outside of New Bern, it was quite nice to find a really good venue with so many choices of well prepare dishes. read more

I ordered over the phone and the individual taking my order was extremely friendly, took the order accurately, and had the food ready when we arrived. We ordered three extra large pies, and they were extra large. We only went with plain, as we're not big toppings people. The pizza like I said, was big, cheese was good, the sauce tasted good, and the crust was very good but could've had a bit more crisp. . My neighbor ordered food for delivery around 6pm and the order never showed up! I drove her to Saras as she had been drinking and was not about to drive and we get there just after 8pm (8:12ish). They were closed up tight! There wasn't a soul at the place and the lights were all turned off. I understand they close at 8pm. They could have at least given my neighbor a call. On a recent trip to the area, I tried this place for a meal after a round of golf. I had the chicken parm hot sandwich, which was very tasty. I got the big size, which was very filling.
