Still...we were patient, we had all just gotten off the plane and were glad to be standing. Gets panini, grabs chips, moves over to pay... Me: (Holding a panini and chips but not seeing a fountain drink option) The combo says it comes with a fountain drink? Cashier: Yeah, you can get a combo. Waves at the fountain dispenser hidden behind the basket of chips. M: Oh great, thanks. Can I get a Sprite? C: We don't have Sprite but you can get a bottle of Sprite. M: But then it won't be a combo...? C: Oh yeah, no. The sandwich in itself was good; comfortably a 3.5. The great was soft, the meats were juicy and the cheese was nice and melted. Avoid this place at all costs. Severely disorganized and no structure whatsoever! I bought my turkey pesto sandwich before boarding a flight since this was the only store with a decent line. I have waited and waited -- unacceptable, unprofessional flat out rude like you're an invisible customer. Please train your staff well to acknowledge customers in line, and implement a system that works without the guests guessing which cashier is open (albeit both being open and operational). People in the sandwich bar were also on autopilot at best, they look dead in the eyes like zombies, seemed so out of it and counting the hours til they clock out. The Denver International Airport was very busy when I went through about a week ago! Luckily this Sara Lee restaurant was not busy so I could duck in here real quick and get a side salad. It was a cute little restaurant which had a few seats. The cashier lady that rung me up was really sweet and offered either 1 or 2 ranch dressings (took 2). The Cobb salad was fresh and had several items including sliced egg, 2 different kinds of sliced cheese, cranberries, turkey, ham, tomatoes, cucumbers and croutons. Imagine your flight is delayed and hunger starts to kick in. You look around and see a sandwich shop advertised nearby advertising bagels. A bagel sounds like the perfect way to refuel before the second flight of your long journey over the holidays. You order an everything bagel with cream cheese and despite being the only customer in line the employees forget to make the bagel because they're chatting with their friends. Then when the bagel is finally made it somehow comes out of the toaster soft and soggy instead of crispy. First time in my life where I've been struck in the eye by projectile crumbs from a so-called sticky bun. If you think that sentence sounds weird- well it bloody well is. Connecting through DEN today and with time constraints, it had to be this sandwich shop or the taco place. There was a long line so I thought, why not. The sandwich: you would think a Sara Lee branded shop would have enticing breads... Oh no. The sour dough on my roast beef has that 'fresh out of the freezer' taste. Yay. The fillings are pretty skim - one slice of beef, one slice lettuce, half square of cheese. You get better fillings at Subway, seriously. It tasted fine, all considering. And then the sticky bun... Well it tasted like dried brioche with sprinkles of cinnamon. No stick to it whatsoever. The projectile crumbs are from the brunt and dried bottom - the shelf they had the buns on was way too hot. We ordered a latte from the person at the cash register who was just two steps away from the person operating the barista station. The place wasn't busy at all. We waited for over ten minutes and had to ask the barista -- who was involved in a conversation with another employee -- where our drink was. She never got the order. The person who took the order and collected the money was gone by then. If you are working in an airport with customers who are catching airplanes, there needs to be a much greater sense of urgency. I'm not sure why there are such low reviews for this place because it's a pretty solid option for to-go sandwiches. Definitely order a sandwich that they make in front of you because these are far superior to the pre-made ones. I ordered a turkey on sourdough and was able to add all the veggies on top (lettuce, onions, pickles, cucumber, tomato). The veg is fresh and the meat isn't super salty. Always looking for ways to kill time at airports... DIA is one of my favorite airports since although not huge they do offer some decent bars and even a massage place ( well I hope it is still there ). I just came across a few receipts dated 05/14/09... I bought a graduation card, a Bon Appetit Magazine (even though I'm a subscriber - nice Shiho) and a Vitamin C Water at Hudson News and a Pretzel w/Cheese at Sara Lee. For $2.94 I cannot complain about anything. I know I devoured it and tried to lick all the faux processed cheese out of the container... I remember all my food consuming experiences unless I'm blacked out (once I apparently yelled at my little sister while sitting on a toilet screaming, "FU#@ you, stop eating my Pizza Bagels"... um I'm hoping this is when I was visiting home while I was in college and not after... I don't remember the incident but my sister told me the next morning.) So yes, pretzel and cheese lovely.... but I cannot remember why the heck I was in Denver in May of 2009?!? I have 2 wedding this year, I know I go every year in January for Snowberry (ski trip to Keystone and cabin that can sleep 20) but what the heck happened in May? I used to live there but moved back in April of 2008... I must have had a stopover but I cannot think of where I was headed... I will take a minute or 3 to solve this little mystery. Wow. read more

I have had many layovers at the Denver airport and usually experience very nice meals. On one occasion I decided to give this place a shot. First thing that happens is I trip over a metal strip on the floor. Bad place to have a strip like that sticking up but partially my fault for being clumsy. So I wait in a small line a order a turkey sandwich and a soda and pay the not so friendly lady behind the counter. She takes my credit card rings it up and walks away. I tell her I need a receipt for my expenses. She sighs and huffs and prints off the receipt and hands it to me without a word. I step aside to let the next person in line order while I wait for my food. At this point no one is manning register. Then another lady who I presume was the manager yells at the young man who couldn't speak a lick of English to handle the register. He walks up and looks at the guys who is about to order and the the manager yells again "No take that guys money first" and points to me. He looks at me and sticks out his had as to take money from me. I tell him I already paid. At this point the young guy is really confused and the manager comes storming up and says "Did you take his money yet?" I pull out my receipt and hold it up and said "I already paid". So she then berates the young guy and says well then help out the next in line. The next guys in the says "No thanks I go somewhere else". Finally my food comes and I ask for a bag so I could go eat it at the gate and the young guy had no idea what I meant so I just walk away to my gate. The sandwich was bland and dry and I didn't even finish it. The soda was good though so I had that going for me. read more

Wonderful human beings work here! I accidentally left my big iphone on the counter. The very nice and honest workers there called my ICE contacts to let them know I lost it and they would keep safe for me or send it to me. God bless them! This was my first time eating at Sara Lee, Denver International Airport and it will be my last. I ordered a Southwest Chicken sandwich and tow ladies argued on how to make it. They finally agreed and the one lady who was making it looked at me and said "Go pay". I should have walked away then. I went to the cashier and said I ordered a Southwest Chicken sandwich and grabbed a bag of chips. He may have been new because a lady said to him "Take his money". Then his cell phone rang and he walked away leaving the register unmanned. Another young kid walked up and said "Has anyone taken your money yet?" Another lady said "No he is being helped". The original kid came back from his cell call and stuck out his hand without telling me the total. I handed my credit card to him and he rung me up and handed me back my card along with my receipt again without saying a word.
