This is no saladworks, which IMO is a positive! I have been looking for a salad bar like this close to work, and have finally found it! I arrived and took a look at the selection of produce and salad bar offerings, which all looked fresh. They also sell essentials like bread and eggs, and even premade sandwiches for those that are not a fan of salad. The salad bar pretty much takes up most of the center space of this tiny produce shop. I was able to grab a nice size salad for under $6! They had nicely sliced chicken, tuna salad, egg salad, and hard boiled eggs as protein options. My salad was composed of romaine, spring mix, large scoop of tuna, a roasted mix of broccoli and red peppers, some chickpeas, a few slivers of red onions, add a few croutons and creamy balasamic in a small cup to go, and you have a 5 star salad! At $4.99/lb it's a steal! The cashier(maybe owner?) was super friendly in helping me navigate the store. He gladly boasted that they have been open since 1990. The salad containers are to the right of the back door. Also, they accept cards with no posted minimum! There are a couple picnic tables outside but otherwise no seating. If you love salad as much as I do or are forced to eat like a rabbit, this is your spot. And if you are feeling extra wild, grab a piece of fruit for later. read more

I was tired off eating the same salad from all the fast food place around my job so I happened to found this place on yelp . With all the good yelp reviews I decided to stop in for lunch . I was so happy because they had a salad bar where you pick and make your own salad. I just wish they would have more to choose from considering its a produce shack . Small, unassuming place. There are shelves of fresh seasonal veggies and fruits around the walls. As you enter, there is a table with fresh baked goods. In the back left corner there are fresh made soups daily. The focus is the salad bar on the left which usually has fresh products and a nice variety of things, including toppings/sides like chicken breast, tuna salad, pasta salad, marinated mozarella and tomato, etc. Staff at the register is usually friendly (he's probably the owner) and, per my coworker Kim, you NEED to pick up a slice of the Jewish apple cake they sell to the right of the register. If you prefer a big salad it can be somewhat expensive here as you are paying something like $6 or $7 per pound. But at least you are giving your money to a local business rather than Salad Works! read more

The best. 2 great soups everyday, a saladbar that is $1 cheaper per pound than local Shoprite. Insanely clean place. They are always cleaning. Saladbar has fruit salad, grilled chicken, tuna, eggsalad, tons of veggies. Fresh baked bread and cookies. They always have their own meatballs and great hot sandwiches like pulled pork, egg and cheese. PLUS, you can pick up some groceries like milk, cheese, eggs, vegetables, pasta, chips, fruit, which amazingly cost no more than the local supermarket. Totally worth it!! read more

A locally owned family business/market in strip mall-type place right in town--and yes, agree, very unassuming but I think extraordinary! And everyone friendly, helpful and efficient. Been on the site as I recall being told almost 20 years. Custard Shack next door doesn't hurt matters--sundaes with soft ice cream (or hard brands but not home-made) are to die for. I find prices very reasonable compared to area markets I have been to in past year since moving "back home" to South Jersey after 40 years away.Fresh fruits, veggies, a salad bar that is quite busy at lunch hour with great fresh hero sandwiches (I can usually catch last one around 4 pm--hit or miss and as fresh as noontime) among the salads and other less caloric lunch-time favorites I whiz by on way to heroes. They have fresh-picked corn from Stella's farm--excellent. The homemade bakery however is my other favorite and my down fall. The aunt makes everything from scratch--coffee cakes, pound cakes (old fashioned kind like I had 30 years ago) ruggala, cookies, carrot cake etc. Now that I finish up this review and ponder all the other groceries, soups etc. they carry--am wondering why only 4 stars for me--so 4.5 to 5! read more
