I had a buy one, get one entree coupon so my friend and I decided to give this place a try. VERY glad we did and we'll definitely be back. The restaurant is in an unassuming little strip mall across from a cemetery and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside, it is decorated with warm colors and the dining room is a wide open, welcoming space. Entree prices were unbelievable good! Our coupon had a maximum value of $18; I think I saw one thing on the menu priced more than $16. I ordered a seafood casserole and my friend ordered the salmon in avocado sauce. Both dishes came with a side of rice and fried plantains. While the casserole was more of a soup, it was delicious! Mussels, clams, chunks of real crab (with claws still attached), fish, octopus, and a couple things I couldn't identify but that were still yummy! The broth was coconut milk and a mild tomato flavor; I drank every last drop. My friend's salmon was perfectly cooked and the avocado sauce was fantastic! More a salsa consistency than sauce, with onions and tomatoes and loads of flavor. 2 entrees and 4 cups of delicious Colombian coffee and, before the coupon, our bill was $36, and we were stuffed! Went to Saoco on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. The meal started off with some delicious plantain chips accompanied with a yummy, sweet yet spicy dipping sauce. Never would I ever go here again. My family and I went here on a Sunday afternoon for some brunch and left an hour later seeing as no one had even started taking our order. There were two waiters with only about 6 tables, yet only 2 of those tables had been served in that one hour that I was there. A friend had told us that they had improved their food so we had decided to go, but that was definitely not true. Within that one hour we received our drinks 30 minutes after we ordered them, and they were not made how we had asked. On top of that, after 45 minutes we received our two appetizers, which were an arepa with cheese and shrimp. My arepa was definitely put in a microwave which any real latino restaurant would never do. My arepa was soggy and soaked with cheese making it less than satisfying. Yet, we had it a lot better than a table of 6 who was to the side of us. They were there before us, yet by the time we left the woman hadn't even taken their oder either. Their children were even screaming "daddy let's go to mcdonalds I'm hungry!" I would definitely never go to Saoco again nor recommend it to anyone on any occasion. read more

I've known about Saoco ever since they opened and I just went today, and I am very disappointed that I haven't been there before!! Such a wonderful place for some great Columbian/Spanish food. My friend and I both had the passion fruit and mango mojitos...and it was delicious!! We had the chicharron and empanadas which were so good I could have ordered another plate. I could have also drank the hot sauce that they gave with the appetizers. For dinner, we had the spicy chicken and shrimp, full of flavor and spices. The tres leches was just decadent. The service was impeccable and the restaurant itself was bright and clean. I will definitely be going back again to try other dishes (and drinks) and will be telling everyone about this restaurant!!! read more

Went to Saoco for a lunch meeting and it was great. I have to admit it may not be the best place to have a business meeting but only because the food is SO good it may be hard to get any work done! Everything on my plate was tasty. I had the cerdo dish (spanish for pork) and it was great. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go back and bring my wife. We literally just left the restaurant and our waiter was truly awful. As soon as he came to ask us what we would like to order you can feel his energy as if though he did not want to be there. He rolled his eyes as he walked away when we asked for mayo ketchup. Him and the bartender were both gossiping and talking loudly while we were eating our appetizers. I caught him many times on his cell phone and even have proof that he was. We also over heard him complaining to the bartender how he did not want to be there and he was leaving at exactly 9 o'clock. As soon as management walked into the restaurant he change his attitude quickly and was nicer and respectful and NOT ON HIS PHONE. The food: The apps were delicious. However my main course was another story. The rice tasted as though it came out of a GOYA box. All in all, the service was God awful. The portions are generous and every bite was enjoyable. The freshly blended juices were good, but a bit sweet. Next time I'd request that they use less sugar, if possible.
