Meh is my feeling about this store. I like wine and hard liquor, my husband likes expensive…read morebourbon. It's a mile and a half from my house so it's convenient. Prices and selection are fine. Sometimes I'm asked if I need help, usually I'm not. Often, there's a group of people behind the checkout socializing, and I can't tell if they're employees or delivery people or vendors. The cashiers are usually friendly, but it would be nice if they provided a receipt every time without asking. Just because I can't return something doesn't mean I'm not entitled to a copy of the receipt. I went in today looking for a specific bourbon for my husband for Valentine's Day. Usually when I can't find something in the aisle, I know it's behind the counter. I showed the cashier a screenshot of the store's website, and he jokingly said "well at that price, it should be in the aisle on the right side of the aisle, and if it's not, then it's on the left." I went back to the aisle. A different version of it was there, the version I was looking for was not. I walked back to the register, saw what I was looking for right behind the first cashier. Another cashier waved me over. I jokingly said that I politely disagreed with the first cashier that what I was looking for was in the aisle, and she said well, no actually, he's not wrong, the bigger bottles are in the aisle, and we have smaller bottles back here and she showed me a different (incorrect version), to which I responded for her to just please look behind him, the one that I'm looking for, is literally right there. She turns. Oh hey, I was right. No acknowledgment that I was right. So I guess next time I want a $72 bottle of bourbon, I'll drive down to Viscount or Arlington Wine & liquor. The reward program here is a joke; I spend several hundred dollars a year and I'm lucky to get a dollar or two off every so often. If the employees are too busy socializing and don't even know what they stock, I'll just spend my money elsewhere.

Predominately budget brands, magnums, and California wines make up the majority of the wine. Wines from Oregon Argentina France Spain Italy and Portugal are represented but on a smaller scale. I was very happy to see a good Rosé selection, even though it's winter. Extensive liquor selection as well and range from low to high end brands. They even have gift items. Prices are reasonable and they have some wines I haven't seen locally before - which is a plus for me. Very friendly staff and manager. They have a free membership program. Discounts available if you buy a case but also if you buy three bottles of one wine varietal which is a real plus! They have many tastings Thurs- Sunday and if you buy only one bottle of what is being tasted you also get the three bottle discount price! Happy to have them so close by. I'll be a regular customer.

What I am saying is that Joe the owner knows his stuff and his wine. I have trusted his recommendations and have never been let down. Whenever you go to buy a bottle of wine you can find liquid to drink for $5 bucks and WINE for $75.00. But at The Wine Store you can ask about a price range and a wine style or type without feeling that you are going to get what they are trying to sell. He honestly has paired my tastes and budget and that is why I keep going back. I've discovered many new wine at his recommendation and he continues to amaze me. I also like to test him. Sazerac is one of my favorite Rye Whiskeys. It comes from NOLA and is rationed to wine shops. I alway find it here. Try it with Goya Jamaican Ginger Beer on ice. Yumm.

Called my husband and he told me to go to this new place in Fishkill because he'd been there and thought they were very friendly and had a good supply of everything. Frustrated and tired after work, I figured I'd give them a try since it was on my way to my friend's house. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Alex who had the friendliest disposition and most inviting attitude I'd seen all day. Told him what I was looking for and he found it for me immediately! He asked me if I wanted to try a really great whiskey he'd just gotten and of course I did! I'm not a whiskey drinker but it was fabulous. Told him I was looking for a nice Pinot Grigio and he immediately showed me some great options. I was so impressed by his knowledge and passion that I decided to ask if he could recommend a nice red wine. I'm always searching and they're either too dry or too sweet. Again his knowledge was very impressive and he led me to the perfect Cabernet Sauvignon. I didn't think I'd like a Cab because I never found one that suited me but he seemed so confident that I decided to trust him. So glad that I did! It was perfect! From now on, I will take the drive to his store because I finally found someone who really knows what he's talking about! Alex is great and I will not hesitate to recommend him! Occasionally they have tastings provided by a brewery. They have a very liberal bottle return policy; it doesn't matter if they carry it - they'll take it back as long as it has a label and isn't broken or crushed. Do the guys in bottle return room a favor --- rinse the cans and bottles out. It's also the law!
