My boyfriend and I still come here a lot but one of my favorite things that was on their menu they don't sell anymore. They had a savory vegetation hand pie that I loved but they stopped selling it. That was my absolute favorite thing. The veggie shepherds pie is ok but not as yummy as the other thing was. I love their mushy peas too. The Pirate stout I enjoy as well. The beer was pretty good. We ordered a flight and three of the five were good beers. The restaurant was less than half full and it took an hour to get our food. My paper thin chicken sandwich was good nothing special about it. My party guest ordered Shepard Pie it was gross. Missing peas and the red wine sauce. The attitude of the owners responses made me change my review to a single star - would definitely have given 0 stars if I could. Owner was super rude rather then asking questions on what had happened and how he could improve by tried stating that my wife and I were full of shit - his words. I have been in the industry for probably more years then he has been alive and have worked all aspects of the industry. I had the Pub Burger and Caesar Salad. The patty lacked seasoning. No salt or anything else. The bun was dry. No mayo, dressing, mustard, ketchup. Came with a tiny portion of good French Fries. The Caesar: The romaine lettuce was wet when it was tossed leaving the salad bland. Yes, I requested extra dressing because of it. Salad had very little cheese or croutons. Disappointed since the burger was expensive at $21. Making a good burger or salad doesn't take a lot of skill. read more

We were curious about Santium when we pulled it up on Yelp and looked forward to some local, seasonal beer and grub. It's in an industrial area and behind other buildings so it was difficult to find. From the front it doesn't look like much but once you step in, it had great atmosphere with British paraphernalia everywhere. There were not many guests on a Tuesday night so the server was very attentive. I was surprised, however, that they were not promoting their beer. We had to ask questions and couldn't find a seasonal list of beers. The menu is very intriguing with both British and American cuisine. The food, however, was lackluster. We ordered the fish and chips with onion rings ($3 more) but both were greasy and poorly seasoned. We also got a half order of the Scotch eggs. The flavor on the dish came primarily from the breading not the sausage or the egg so I'm dubious about this tasking like the traditional fare. The rabbit pie was delicious and the mushy peas, were by far the best I've ever had - and I lived in England for five years! . Visiting family for the first time in forever. Velp'd here and so glad I did. It's tough to find with nearly over road construction blocking the easy way but we did find it. Great ambiance and really really good beer. We were so pleased with everything my family insisted on coming back again a couple days later. Great family visit find! The brewery is full of life. This is our fourth visit. We have tried several different dishes and this time they have a few more on the menu. Tonight is max n cheese with crispy chicken, a wimpy burger, and a pub burger. The wait staff is amazing. Always friendly. Super attentive and getting drinks is fast and friendly! The restroom is gender neutral. I personally prefer having a ladies room but they keep it clean so... We have been here 10 minutes. Gotten our drinks (daddy loves the different beers ) and ordered our food. They make accommodations as requested with your order with no hassle. Oh. 15minutes and we are fed! Food is amazing, yummy, hot, creamy, and we are hungry! I was very disappointed when I got coated fries (I seriously dislike them) instead of the English chips. I figured they must have been out but then I saw them on other patrons plates. I had no idea they served them icky fries. Now I do. So I still say 5 stars BUT... Happy hour is very pocket friendly! I have been meaning to go here every time I come visit Salem. Finally got the chance. Had their Fish and Chips. Very good. Did not disappoint. Atmosphere was neat. It has a old British pub feel. Food was great. The French fries were some of the best beer battered French fries I have ever had. The homemade tasting ranch dressing was out of this world. I had the "western burger" and it was great. My wife had the normal pub burger. The bun was too thick for her. We liked the environment. Service was great. The young man was attentive. We met an older man who was a patron there. He was a neat person to talk to. 81 years old but he didn't look a day over 60. He told us of his device in Vietnam war, and what he does now. What he has accomplished and what he has in his life. He was super cool to talk to. He as sharp as a tack and very fit. Wish I would have got his name and was able to talk to him more. We enjoyed his company. He was funny. He was very polite. I wanted to pick his brain to learn more from him. read more

Stopped here on vacation, looking for a different experience, and it didn't disappoint!! Love the tap room/pub atmosphere. My wife and I had the British Fish and Chips. No need to choose between a 2 or 3 piece, because you get one big piece and the fries are the right amount. I love the fact that even though potatoes are cheap(er), they don't waste them filling a big basket you can't eat. The fish was not greasy and was super flaky. I had mushy peas with mine and enjoyed them thoroughly. We also got the Scotch Eggs, that were something we had never had before, which I didn't think my wife would like (picky, when it comes to eggs) and we both loved them. The staff is super friendly and patient, as it took a while for me to decide between all the tasty items on the menu. Yes, there is a bite gone from the fish, and a few tasted beers in the photo. It's a slice of Britannia here. The menu is more British than American. In addition to the more common fish and chips, banger and mash, they have all manners of meat pies including tikka masala pie, lamb shank pie, sausage roll. The only World Cup glory for England in 1966 is celebrated on the wall. It is as British as I can find in a pub this side of the pond. read more

American and British dishes. I have really enjoyed the selections of food here. Meat pies, fish & chips, mushy peas, burgers and now breakfast. Here's a list of thoughts. The 11oz haddock fish & chips is fantastic and makes it difficult for me to select other items. Love the mushy peas but sometimes it seems like they forgot to season them. Burgers are very tasty but nothing exceptional to stand them above other good burger places They recently added breakfast. The menu is pretty limited and I really wanted to like it. The kippers were very dry and tough to cut and chew. Fried bread is bread that is oil soaked and fried in the griddle (I expected "fry bread " which is a deep fried bread dough and very yummy). Hash brown Pattie's are the patties you can pick up in the local freezer case. As a brewery, they have a good selection of house brews but also carry ciders. Cost for a plate is about mid-teens to $25. Inflation has really hit our small businesses. The service is really hit and Miss. read more

Not a great location, in a warehouse area and behind some business (not visible from the street). They have a British theme which was a bit odd for a small town in Oregon. I was in the mood for some fish and chips, and I figured a British theme brewery would do them well. The food did not disappoint!!! Took the wife on a lunch date and we both were quite impressed. I have been going to Santiam since the very beginning (stand at a bar and drink a beer or two then leave) and boy have they come a long way! Wife got the British Fish and Chips and I had the Brewers Pie. Server knew all about the beers on tap and the food and was eager to get us a flight to try all the new beers. My boyfriend is from the UK, and so when we were looking for a fun place to eat and drink after the Ten Falls Hike -- this little spot popped up in my Yelp search. And I am so glad it did! First off, the staff here is WONDERFUL. Why is everyone in the PNW so nice? They quickly saw how hungry we were and promptly got our beers and food as it was ready. We devoured everything and my British boo was please. Burgers were only so-so, but the rest of the food was great (especially the fries and Welsh rarebit). Let me start off by saying I have had fish and chips at many spots, chain restaurants, coastal seafood spots, fine dining , fast casual and fast food, in the US, UK and other countries. Never have I had better fish and chips then at Santiam Now for the bad. We were here between 6pm and 8pm on a Friday and the restaurant claimed to "run out" of certain food items. On a Sunday near closing I might buy this but at 7pm on Friday? Nah. I figure they had these items prepped for the anniversary party the next day and didn't want to have to prep more. The server was not very attentive and made a number of excuses for things. We waited over an hour to get our food while tables of people who arrived after us got their food before us. When we stopped another server to ask where our food was because our server was MIA she confirmed that we ordered our food around 6:30pm and the table that had already received their food ordered around 7:15 pm. I get that things can get confused in the kitchen but Santiam uses handheld devices to enter orders and the whole thing is automated so losing a ticket is actually not possible. The other items that we ordered were not good but those fish and chips were amazing. It bothers me that I Ioved this dish so much because it makes it so hard to write this place off.
