I love Gilgamesh. One of my favorite gathering and eating places in Salem. A great variety of eats. Favorites are Chicken Strips, Mac Attack, GilgaMary, several burgers and Korean Steak Bites. Sad to say the South Salem campus was slated to close on August 29, 2025 to make way for administrative offices for a carpet company. My final meal when I learned of the closure was the GilgaMary. A Bloody Mary with two skewers each holding a piece of soft pretzel, chicken wing, slider, drunken mushroom and bacon. A meal in itself! read more

Dog Friendly patio with great food & beer! Service is 5/5- Monica is so friendly and the perfect ambassador for the restaurant. She was so kind to our dog and made us feel so comfortable. We went with her beer suggestions and then she gave us a taste of the Mamba- their flagship beer- we loved it. Ambiance is 5/5 - the inside dining room and bar area are rustic & would feel very cabin-comfortable in the winter. The dog-friendly outside patio is surrounded by creekside foliage and the breeze that comes through the shaded seating area has a natural cooling effect during this hot summer day. The vibe is very relaxed and casual. Food is 5/5 - Happy Hour goes from 3-5:30 and they offer great value for food items on the HH menu. I had the pulled pork sando with side salad during HH and we split a spicy chicken sando with fries as well. The portions are generous and both items were good quality and fresh from the bun to the coleslaw on the pulled pork- everything was so good! The blueberry heffy & the Mamba ard delightful on warm days. We will definitely recommend Gilgamesh Brewing and look forward to returning to the area. read more

Awful Took forever to get greeted when walked in, I asked if we can seat ourselves outside they said "just give us one minute", they did say it nicely but the restaurant is dead. Ordering was quick but they were out of the blueberry beer I ordered and the iceberg for wedge. I took the recommended peach cider and got the wedge with romaine I will say my salad was really good, ranch was made in house and was fire Peach cider tasted like flat rose lol Fried Mushrooms were subpar - no real flavor Friend got salon tacos with beans, she said beans were good but salmon lacked flavor as well Lastly, my other friend got burger and fries, burger tasted frozen to quick cook and fries were old and hard like under heat lamp for awhile. Ordered a pizza that had linguica on it. I was so excited because linguica is one of my most favorite foods and very nostalgic for me. The first bite of the pizza and I knew something was wrong with it. The linguica was rancid. I don't even know how that is possible with a cured meat but it was terrible. My parter who I was sharing the pizza with agreed. The only reason why I give this two stars is because the server was horrified, apologized profusely and offered us a refund. What a mess. The wait staff; 1 was unorganized, 1 was inattentive, 1 ran around everywhere, 1 took pictures of the finished food and the deliver it to the table. The food did arrive as ordered, finally. The food ordered was 2 tostada and a salad with steak. We were there more than an hour. Most of our time was waiting. I had to ask for the check. I chose to ask for the. Heck from the guy that was working the hardest. He was not our server. The food was good, the service was terrible. The ambiance was lacking. They need to get their act together. If you want to spend an hour or two for casual dining this is your place. Great lil spot!! Ambiance was nice and full of energy. Our server was engaging and personable. Food was good pub food. Nothing spectacular, I had the Firehouse burger with a Brioche bun. Great Smokey flavor. Fries were okay, nothing spectacular. My only issue was the beer, out of my flight of six beers, I only thought two were good enough to finish. The awakening was too coffee forward and bitter. The saison flavor seemed muted and lacked balance. The restaurant at Gilgamesh Brewing is a welcoming, rustic spot where you can enjoy great beer and good food in a laid-back atmosphere.  The look and feel of the venue belies the fact that it's situated in an industrial park area of SE Salem, right near a busy road.  The deck in the rear is shaded and covered with lots of seating and tables available.  Both their beer and food tasting flights are first-tier! Tip: The Campus is Galgamesh's flagship restaurant, located just one door down from the brewery. We've visited here a couple of times recently, and, very much enjoyed the attentive, friendly service, not to mention their excellent food and beer.  My go-to meal as of late is: - Fire House Burger (1/3 lb. Wagyu beef pattie topped with red onion, house pickled jalapeños, Tillamook pepper jack cheese, peppered bacon, avocado and cayenne aioli on a grilled Teleera roll. - Stoney Fries (Stoney's hand-cut fries topped with chipotle sour cream, shredded cheese, peppered bacon and green onions). When the weather is warm I prefer their outdoor seating area, but there's a very cozy-looking indoor dining room which features a fireplace - I look forward to enjoying my meals here as the weather turns cooler :-) read more

We stopped by on a Friday night on the way down to Bend and we're thoroughly impressed with everything- the staff, the food and the facilities. The fried mushrooms were awesome. And not just button mushrooms, like REAL mushrooms and the ranch they came with was awesome as well. The Gorgonzola burger was massive and perfectly cooked. The chicken strips were pretty good as well, but I wouldn't come here for them. The fries were great and portions were huge. The beers were pretty delicious. I'm not an IPA person but my partner enjoyed them. I had two of the special tap beers and liked them a lot as well. We would love to come back for an event on their lawn sometime. The staff was super friendly to our dog and even fed her a cup of whipped cream with bacon bits on the top! read more

Another stellar experience earns the all coveted, 5th and FINAL star. Came in tonite to find that their card system was down. So the fam grabbed a table and got settled in while I ran down the street for cash @ the nearby ATM (this kid only does electronic pay). Our server Addi was super sweet and kind, gave us just the right amount of time and space to figure things out... couple kids in tow and all (lol)! We grabbed some fried green beans and some buffalo wings to start. The youngins had the ginormous cheeseburger off the kids menu (awesome burger and value) and wifey and I shared the chimichurri steak. I had to grab a flight of their brews to sample... variety is the spice of life, right? All were filling, delicious and on point! When the bill came, the flight was there but with a zero $ amount. I pointed it out to Addi to get it corrected (integrity is a trait I hold dear). She was super cool about it and explained it was like that on purpose and that she appreciated us staying to eat even though their system was down... her way of going above and beyond to take care of us given their card system issue. These are the kind of gestures and level of customer service deserving of extra stars even if the food didn't match...which is not the case here. For all this and more, this place is absolutely earned MY 5 STARS! read more

Waited months to try thier bloody Marie's.... The bloody Marie's were served warm "yuck". Hair stuck to the bottom of or pretzels , the beer cheese was fair until I found the hair.."yuck" But the best part was the rude manager when I showed her the hair and asked her to feel the tempature or my tomato soup( bloody Marie's). The portions here were plentiful and the food was great. I had the Mac and cheese tossed in Cajun sauce with pulled pork and bacon. It comes with green peppers and onions but I asked for them without. My girlfriend got the butternut sauce ravioli and loved the sauce and taste. And best of all? That's just the food! This place is a brewery. I had a Turkish coffee stout that was amazing. Portion was fantastic for my Mac and cheese and average for the butternut squash ravioli. Stopped by on Mother's Day. I was delighted with the service and speed on a busy day. The atmosphere was great with inside seating that looked inviting and plenty of covered outdoor seating. I had the mamba, it is great. It has a refreshing taste and is unique, which can be hard to find these days. My husband had the Doug Firocious. We had to buy a six pack on our way out he loved so much. The food was great. I had a chicken and bacon burger and tomato spinach soup that tasted great. Only drawback was the plating. Employees are nice, the pretzel and cheese appetizer came out quick, however, after that my party had a difficult time getting our food. Someone in our party had to ask twice for their drink to be refilled because our waitress was doing other things that other staff should be doing. We sat outside and were never notified that the lights were broken so we sat in the dark. We ordered our main entree and after an hour, it still had not arrived. The food is delicious, don't get me wrong, but the service is horrible and we had to sit eating in the dark. Probably won't come back due to the service. read more

We visited on a brewery tour back in 2014 and we have been returning anytime we are in the Salem area ever since! (pics are from several different visits!) Great service and great food! We especially like the outside seating area - nearby grounds have a park-like feeling. The beers are really good. For food, we stick with the burgers and sandwiches - never been disappointed. I would say the only negative is the parking - it is an odd-shaped lot and it can get busy and be hard to find a spot - especially if you drive a bigger vehicle. But it is worth the trouble - can't wait to visit again! read more

My boss loves going to breweries when we're on the road. He'd been to Gilgamesh before so he knew it was a safe bet. I had a couple of the Shalom Y'all stouts and the happy hour nachos with pulled pork. The beer was pretty good. It was actually a little sweet. When I ordered the nachos the bartender asked me if I wanted the happy hour portion or the regular portion. I don't know what the size difference is. I think the cost differenceit's $7 vs $10 plus a couple bucks for the pulled pork. If you're ordering for yourself the HH portion is more than enough. It's served on a medium sized dinner plate but the nachos are stacked really high. The pulled pork is a little ddifferrnt that I'm used to. After asking around that just how they do pulled pork in the Pacific NW. I don't know how to describe it other than it's shredded really thin, put on top of the nachos and then baked. With it being shredded so thin it was a little dry but there was enough cheese and bean dip to make up for it. I can see why it's a go to for my boss. Solid beer and good happy hour works for me. read more

Went here for lunch with a friend because they have outdoor seating that isn't sitting in a parking strip. I have a hard time eating sandwich because of a limited jaw opening so I ordered a pulled pork sandwich without the bun. It was so dry I could barely eat it. Not sure if it would have been better on the bread (I'm guessing the bread would have been dressed with something) but I would definitely change my order should there be a return visit. The atmosphere is family friendly and laid back, their outdoor seating is covered so you can enjoy it in most weather. The servers are really nice too. My daughter and I stopped by for dinner. This is a nice option in SE Salem. The dining area is roomy with a fireplace. Outdoor seating is also available. We've been here several times and the service is always great. They have beer selections that won't disappoint. We love the Hazy IPA. My favorite menu item is the fish and chips and we've had some excellent salads and appetizers too. The multiple burger choices should satisfy all, and you can make it a veggie burger for $2 extra. My only beef about the place is no one's fault and a sign of our current tough times. It is a bit pricey. We spent over $50 with tip for 2 salads and 2 beers. But that won't keep us away. Good beer and excellent service will keep us coming. They are definitely worth a try! read more

The hostess yesterday was one of the rudest wait staff I have ever encountered. Is this place that good that they can treat their patrons this badly? No place can treat people this way and stay in business. Once she begrudgingly seated us her and the one waitress treated us like we had some kind of disease. If this is what is good in Salem I can't imagine what a bad restaurant looks like. After sitting for 15 mins without even a glance we ordered wings and drinks. I have nothing but good things to say and great appreciation for the staff of Gilgamesh Brewing. My boyfriend, small dog, and I stopped in Salem on our drive from Seattle to the Sierra foothills in California and wanted to try Gilgamesh. We called when were 90 minutes out to confirm they were dog friendly on the patio, and that the patio would be covered in the rains. When we arrived the message of our coming hadn't been relayed and they were cleaning up, but welcomed us with open arms and let us eat and drink on the wonderful and warm patio right beside the fireplace. We each got a pint and appetizers to share, and for the miscommunication we got an extra appetizer on the house. The fries are massive and smothered in toppings, the fried mushrooms vary in many types of shroomies, and the pretzels were delish. The CDA and Turkish Coffee Stouts are must try beers! Addy and the fellas in the kitchen were fantastic! If you plan to head to Gilgamesh Brewing, see if Addy is working in the bar. She was welcoming, attentive, and super hospitable. We plan to stop by on our drive back up to Seattle because our visit was so memorable. read more

Really awesome! I loved all the beer options and the food is so good! (So good, that I forgot to take pictures! Ah, next time!) They can replace any burger with a veggie patty which is nice, because most places get difficult about that option. The outdoor seating was the best so far with Covid! Nice and warm and covered! I have never been made to feel more, unwelcome, unwanted, and unappreciated than my group was made to feel tonight! This started off wrong when we SPECIFICALLY requested the outdoor area AND confirmed that the same day for our reservations and when we arrived, we were set up inside. We also made it VERY clear that it would likely be arriving between 8:00 - 8:30 when we arrive, they said no problem and booked the party for 8:00. When we finally were sat in the correct place our server immediately told us they wanted to close early and started rushing us to order because our party was "45min late"! Then as we were finishing our server kept trying to rush us snatching things off the table. Bottom line the service was TERRIBLE. I have never been in a restaurant where the staff made it so abundantly clear they did not want us there! read more

Worst service I've experienced in a longtime time. Over an hour just to get cold food, then to top it off nothing but excuses about why it took so long when they weren't event busy. Waitress tried to claim short staff issues but they where maybe 1/3 capacity and clearly had employees hanging around. When I asked the waitress about beers she said to just scan the QR code for the menu because she clearly didn't know the drinks. Then to top it off she gave us attitude saying she could put us ahead of the other customers if we wanted our food remade, needless to say we left our cold food there, left hungry and won't be returning. read more

I had the Heathen Burger from this place not too long ago. My wife ordered it for me through.....somehow, I do not know. Anyway, we drove over, picked up the order and brought it back to the house. Now....since I did not order it I had no idea what was on it, or what to expect from the experience. My wife knows what burgers I like and how I like them prepared. She knows I love bacon and egg on a burger and I absolutely without a doubt have to have the ground beef cooked Well done. This burger looks and smells awesome. Im so ready to go total carnivore on it. I just want to rip it to shreds. So right off the first bite I can tell something is weird about this burger but I take another bite. I look closely at the meat and see its pink and red inside. I asked my wife what she got me and she told me, "The Heathen Burger." I looked again and then asked, "did you ask for the burger well done?" She said, "I didn't think to, sorry." I'm like, "its not cooked all the way." We look at it more. And then I tell her it doesn't taste like beef. She gets her phone, we look more closely at the burger ingredients and noticed there is no cow in this burger. "Ooops." Well, now I understand the pink and the taste and I'm ok with the taste. But now its not really a burger as much as its just a fancy sandwich. I can do this regardless. Let's go. I take my third bite and then look at the pink meat again. I should not have looked, I should have just blindly chowed down. But I did and realize.....I'm having issues now. Its pink!! Its now psychologically unsound.......Its bothering me the pink inside. I cannot do this!!! I stopped eating it putting it back down on the plate. I finished off the fries and the fried pickles which were really good. I ended up not finishing the burgee and threw it away. Now this was just my experience with one "burger." I am a cynical bastard and a quirky eater, but I don't want to judge this place too harshly based on my eating requirements and psychological hangups. The burger was prepared as described and was ok if you like that sort of thing...ground bacon and ground pork loin. But I cannot do any pink meat on any burger or sandwich.....sorry.
