I ended up coming here while having to wait for my train longer than expected because I missed the last one. So since I had more than 40 minutes to kill I figured I'd grab a bite to eat. To start off, I just had one of the worst experiences ever and if I could give no stars I would. I walked in wanting to get a snack and a cup of water seeing as it's almost hitting triple digits outside and this heat is unbearable. When I was checking out and asked for a cup of water and ready with my snack in my hand she then goes and tells me I would have to purchase a soda cup if I wanted any water and was honestly shocked seeing as in everywhere else would only require me to purchase something to get a basic human necessity. Honestly disappointed I didn't take anything after this interaction and will never bring my business here again. Gosh I didn't realize you can get a 10% off with check in! Waiting for friends to pick me up at Fullerton train station . I'm starving so this cafe inside the station was convenient . You order from cashier, pay, and someone brings food out to you . You can also grab a drink from a fridge and pay for it with your order . I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage patty. I think it was $6 or so . The bagel was toasted nicely, the egg was nicely fried, and the cheese melted well . It was a pretty good sandwich ! It comes with a side of potatoes which I declined . I don't think you can substitute for anything else . So $6 for a bagel sandwich was a bit expensive . Service was great and kind . A true hidden gem! This is our favorite place in Fullerton to enjoy a patio lunch with our pugs. The food is great, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Fabulous selection of draft beers, as well as canned and bottled. If choosing a bottled beer or wine, you must drink it out of a plastic cup. I really love the roast beef sandwich, but I also have enjoyed the hot dogs and salads. The "Queenie Weenie" hot dogs are fantastic! Really the most gourmet hot dogs in the area. You will not be disappointed. We often have a beer here before heading on the train to a Dodgers/Padres game in San Diego. I cannot wait until we can have days like that again. The atmosphere of fans waiting for the train is truly such a memorable experience. But for now, in these Covid times, Santa Fe Café is sticking to all the rules, and it's a warm and sunny place to enjoy some drinks and good food. We stopped in with our pugs on Monday. They share a kids meal each time (haha!) the fries were extra fresh and the beers extra cold. We will be back again soon, as this is such a fun place year round. read more

Nice little mini-market, bar, café, gift shop at Fullerton transportation station. You can get yourself a train whistle, train t-shirt, beer (bottle, can or draft), Bloody Marys, Queenies Weenies, candy, chips, sandwiches and other snacks and/or beverages. Not a bad place to rest your laurels while waiting for a train or relaxing after arriving at the Fullerton destination. You can even enjoy the outdoor seating under umbrellas and watch the trains bustle in and out. It is actually a pretty cool place to hang out for a bit. Employees are courteous and keep the place nice and clean, also providing service with a smile. Fullerton train station and surrounding parking lot is the home to many homeless, so you may have to deal with that.... but I think, for the most part, they really do a decent job of trying to keep the riff raff away. I love grabbing their breakfast in the morning. You can never go wrong with the "Breakfast Burrito". However their chorizo breakfast Pita is also very tasty. I hop on the train everyday, and this spot is conveniently located right in front of where the train picks me up. Ana and Amy are always very welcoming towards everyone. They also have a great variety of beers. This is very important especially when it has been a long day at work. =) They used to have a Piano here which I loved playing around with, I would love it if they could bring that back. read more

I have eaten here before when in Fullerton for transit events. Very conveniently located at the train station. Food is quite good and reasonably priced. Bathroom costs a quarter to use and very cramped. They offer an impressive array of beverages and snacks plus have an ATM. The cafe is in the baggage area of the historic Fullerton station. The cafe faces the rails where outdoor seating is great for train watchers and anyone waiting for a train here. Indoor seating is also available. They sell snacks, bottled drinks, train whistles, train hats, some small things you might need on a long train ride, newspapers, and Lotto tickets. It's kinda old and dingy inside. Nothing fancy about this place. You can't take your booze out of the outside gate! Plenty of parking. Service is chilled. Get a token at the register for the bathroom usage! There're lots of homeless people here and the front side of this establishment kinda stinks (thanks to them or drunk people), though downtown Fullerton is getting cleaner and cleaner... So I tend to avoid using the bathroom due to it, not because of the actual bathroom here ;p Be careful if you eat outside - when the trains come, they will blow your plates and stuff (I'm not kidding). It is located right in front of the platform. Except the wind blowing and loud sounds. You see trains and the train fanatics carrying a camera and video and chasing trains while you enjoy your beers outside. They said "people don't understand us (train fans) nor trains!". I was out in the Metrolink/Amtrak station area yesterday filming for a news segment regarding Kelly Thomas I'm doing for my journalism class, and after feeling hungry I decided to stop by here. Such a neat place really, especially the outdoor dining area right by the tracks. I thought the insides of the cafe was unique as well. I ordered a cheeseburger combo which was fairly good. I don't usually give a 5 star review but this little place gets one from me. I have come here for years. The food is unusually good, my big fat breakfast burrito that I had for lunch was incredibly good. The people who work here are so very nice. And to boot the best place west of the Mississippi to view trains, or to grab a bite if you are lucky enough to be catching a train. There is a tiny bathroom, for a place this small, I am surprised they even have one. If you want a bigger bathroom, try the depot in the same building. Outside is always clean. If you want upscale, Old Spaghetti Factory shares the same parking lot, and they have a big bathroom. If you want small and special, try this place. read more

I used to work within the station complex and ate here all the time. I understand that management of the cafe has changed at least once, but many of the changes have been for the better (such as tapping into the night crowd by adding live shows and hookah). I was always partial to their tuna and turkey melts, and their large breakfast platters. Beer and wine, though a limited selection, is a plus. The ladies who worked here (as of a couple years ago) were always incredibly friendly and patient, even with impatient customers running to catch their trains. Came in 20 minutes before my train was supposed to arrive on the opposite track. Asked how long a hot dog would take since I'm on a time crunch. She said 10 minutes. I asked for a bottle of beer, Newcastle. She told me I needed to physically pick it up out of the refrigerator and bring it to her. After all these years this little gem is still relatively unknown. During the week this place is your typical train station cafe with every amenity a weary traveler seeks. But during the weekend evening hours this little cafe has bands play live on the patio as trains plow by. Now your not going to catch the Stones here or anything, but every now and then you may discover a winner. The bands that play here vary but are predominantly some strain of punk rock. The audience is predominantly made up of bored teens, confused travelers, dungeons and dragons booger eaters, dudes with wooden swords, and local wannabe hipsters who pretend to like Hope Sandoval. I like coming here every now and then because the beer is cheap and they have junk food; its like catching a show at your local 7-11 with trains. Overall, this is a nice place to visit or perhaps even start the evening with but I don't think I want to make a habit out of hanging out with teenagers. Visited the Fullerton Transportation Center March 12, 2016. The staff in the station were helpful and cordial. The young lady in the Santa Fe Express Café was very busy multi-tasking. It is obvious the owner of this establishment could care less about its clients. My husband & I are in our 70's & 80's. we travel extensively, and know how to use our credit cards. Cash is not "King," or "Queen" these days. It's just a means to avoid Uncle Sam. We can't find words to describe the bathroom facility. Deplorable, foul-smelling, and filthy are a few that come to mind. Do not visit the restroom if you intend to consume anything edible there. Where's the Health Department when you need them! P.S. About 10 years ago they used to have live local music and hookahs out on the back patio...until my friend's band incited a playful mosh pit that resulted in the destruction of hookahs and subsequent cancellation of future late night live music mayhem.
