Hispanic male here, stopped by Sanrio to buy my niece a hello kitty gift for Christmas and this heavyset female employee with glasses followed me around the store ridiculously invasive. It got to the point where I told my partner holy smokes we are being discriminated against. I clearly am not a hoodlum and my partner and I are both college educated in our mid twenties with no kids. We literally went there to get a present and walked out feeling disgusted because this employee literally stood next to us and checked every isle we were at. I understand you guys may get merchandise stolen but really? Who in the world goes out of there way to make the customer so darn uncomfortable that they act this way? This is one of my favorite Sanrio Stores. Although there aren't too many still around..this probably is the biggest and has the most stuff. The staff is super friendly. I think I come here too often since some of the employees know me by name lol. Although I've moved further away from this location, I do love this mall that this store is located so its worth the drive out here especially to get my Hello Kitty fix lol. What I also love most about this store is their instagram page. You can stay up to date with all their new stuff. They also can take your order over the phone to put your stuff on hold for pick up or they ship too. I've never ever had a problem here. Just make sure the things you buy.... know whats returnable and what isn't. Again the ladies here are super nice and super awesome. This is a one star review for an employee, not the store. There is one employee that I believe goes by the name of Kat. And let me tell you interacting with her was completely KAT-astrophic! I'll be honest, I came into Sanrio the other day just to redeem the bonus cards I've had since childhood in hopes of getting a prize. I was pretty disappointed to find out that my bonus cards from decades ago are worthless. They switched to a new bonus card system where one stamp is for each $5 purchased, and once the card is filled up you get $5 off your next purchase - no more prizes for bonus cards. It's true that these cards never expire, however the bonus isn't worth spending that much money on overpriced Hello Kitty accessories. I've spent a lot of money in this store and every time the customer service is lacking with their uneducated minimum wage high school employees who are rude and watch over you like you're going to steal something but unfortunately I like the products. Today I went in to buy an Xmas gift. The gift was $20 and I used my $5 stamp card coupon which brought the total to $15. I asked if she could put it in an Xmas bag. The girl next to her said that's $1.50 since your total is under $20 and it's only free if you spend $20. I technically did spend $20! What the heck?! I would have not used the coupon then! I have a really bad shopping experience at this store. I only returned $10 item and the Chinese owner has to delete 1 stamp from my stamp card. She also has to copy my whole address from my drivers license which is against my privacy, or else she won't refund to me. She just let me exchange. I asked her why your return policy is so complicated , she said the other stores hv to copy customers' addresses too, you didn't know that's because you didn't go out and return the other items. My friend and I are OBSESSED with Hello Kitty and Sanrio, so every couple of months we make the trek out to the Westfield Santa Anita mall just so we can go to this Sanrio store, because it's the best one in the LA area. The girls that work here are so nice and friendly! We're always greeted when we enter the store and they are super helpful about answering our questions or grabbing items for us from the back for us to see. We LOVE that this store has a HUGE Tokidoki selection. They have an entire wall dedicated to Tokidoki stuff and they usually have the newest collections available. I'd have to say that we spend 90% of our time in this section alone. I highly recommend following their Instagram accounts because they usually post photos of new items that just arrived! On Tuesdays they give double points on their stamp cards, to make sure to bring yours when you come! One thing that bothers me is the stamp card situation. They only allow you to use stamp cards specifically from their store (which I've noticed at all locations), and they also don't allow you to combine stamp cards...which I think is stupid. If you forget your stamp card at home, they tell you you just hold onto your receipt and they'll add them to your stamp card next time...IF you remember to bring in both your receipt(s) AND stamp cards during your next visit. It's super annoying and I feel it's like a stingy way to rip customers off. I literally have like 5 stamp cards with only a few stamps on each because I can never combine them and don't carry all of them with me at all times. Overall, I definitely recommend going here as they have a huge store and selection of items! read more

It's very clear either the owner or manager sets the tone of the business and all I can say is she is so lazy. I wanted to buy something for my daughter and there was this man taking so long to decide on what to purchase. So i asked if they can open another register. Nope! When it's very clear they have 2 at the counter. WHY NOT???? And then when it was finally my turn to pay. This young cashier rudely tells me my daughter "DON'T PULL THAT". She hardly touched let alone pulled anything. It wasn't even anything delicate!!!If she had any common sense...she knows never speak to a child in that tone when she works in customer service. I would've appreciated if she said something like "oh sweetie, please don't touch that" Anyway, even though I live in Arcadia. Yay! This Sanrio location is the BEST. I don't have a Sanrio super close to me anymore (the one in my mall closed down ) and I reached out to this one through Instagram. Their Instagram is really well curated, and I could shop their store just by scrolling through. I messaged them about items I was interested in and they sent me an invoice by PayPal. I paid it, and they shipped me my items! The process of messaging them was awesome, they were super nice and helpful! They sent me photos, told me about products, etc. I received my items in the mail today and I'm so happy! It was packed well, with "fragile" written on the side and with packing cushion. They even included a couple extra treats in the package too! I will absolutely be shopping with them again VERY soon!!!! Sanrio has been a huge love of mine ever since I was a little girl, anytime I got birthday money I would go straight to the Sanrio store. I'm an adult now, but who cares? Pro Tip: They have some seasonal and area related stuffed animals and products (for example USC and ucla Adorned HKs, granted the USC ones were sold out on black friday and a ton of the ucla were still there). This was definitely number one on my list of Sanrio stops I had to make during my LA trip and I'm so glad I did because it was worth experiencing. I didn't get as much stuff as I thought I would but it's my fault because I had already stopped by numerous other spots prior along the way. For some reason I also expected the store to be so much bigger. Nevertheless, if I could I have would have gone home with a lot more stuff. Really hope I can come visit this area again soon. This a review for their customer service or lack of customer service. What an experience! I had the pleasure of meeting 3 terrifically horrible employees working at this location named Laura, Stephanie, and Salina. I already knew what I wanted to buy and what I wanted was behind the counter. I stood at the counter to buy the product. The ladies behind the counter did not notice me and ignored me when I asked for assistance. I felt like a ghost in the store. I could only tolerate so much until I had to voice out in frustration. In the end, I decided I was not going to shop at a place that had no consideration for their customers and have my money fuel to their paychecks. For the manager whom is on "vacation" until November 23rd, if you're reading this... You need to better train, discipline, and hire someone to supervise the workers. I read the reviews here on Yelp yesterday before I went to the store and saw a lot of negative comments... I'd been to this store many times before throughout the years and honestly didn't pay enough attention to know whether or not the customer service was really all that bad. I think maybe I would just zone out and go straight for Hello Kitty. I went to the store yesterday evening and the sales girls weren't hostile at all. So maybe they didn't greet me as I came through the door but I heard them greet others and it's really not a big deal to me because when I asked for help, they came through for me! They have items in this store that are out of stock elsewhere! And okay I know that everything Hello Kitty is overpriced in general but this place is priced under what you would pay online for the same thing on sites like loungefly.com and sanrio.com. This goes for all the tote bags, cosmetic pouches, etc. Overall, I was satisfied. I went there with a mission and am happy to say that I found what I wanted and will probably go back there once my wallet can handle it again!!! read more

I've been to many a Sanrio store in my day -- back when I was a preteen girl myself. This store was pretty amazingly well stocked. They had all the normal items: stationary, gum, jewelry boxes, wallets. At any rate, I was looking for something basic but cute for two sisters -- aged 5 and 3. The nice ladies helped me out. Remember the little cute things that they stick on the bags? This time, they were little bells, so I asked for two -- gifts for sisters, right? They charged me an extra 25 cents for a little bell. Oh well, Christmas cheer (but minus one star for that stingy-ness). If you're in the market for for something Hello Kitty-ish but also different and unique, this is the store for you. They have two styles of Hello Kitty carpets for your car and Hello Kitty steering wheel covers. Like George mentioned, the staff only cares about chitchatting about their boyfriends and their planned weekends. Either you get ignored, or you get staff members that won't leave you alone to shop; every single employee will ask if you need help or have any questions at every corner you turn, probably because their manager or owner is on staff and babysitting them to make sure they're actually working hard for their minimum wage. I wanted to see a Tarina Tarantino gothic lolita piece a few months ago, and after being ignored for about 20 minutes of "excuse me can I see this", "Oh, I'm going on break ask her *points*", and the her lollygogging slowly over to get the keys, and chitchatting with another coworker at the same time, taking a WOW, astonishing 2 full minutes just to get keys that were 1 foot away from the display case, she hesitantly opens the case, and shows it to me. I'm looking at the piece, admiring its beauty and she monotonously, and quite rudely, "ARE YOU GOING TO BUY IT". Jerk. "No, no thank you", I reply with the sweetest, splenda-ist, fakest voice ever, and say "thank you! bye" and she ignores me to put it away with a grudge. So I say it once more, "THANK YOU! I visit this Sanrio Store in the Westfield Santa Anita located in Arcadia once or twice a month out of pure convenience. I enjoy shopping at this Mall, because they do carry a handful of stores that I like to shop at. Normally, Sanrio is a 2 - 3 ranking; but on Mon Jan 24, 2011, I had the WORST EXPERIENCE, ever. Let me tell you why... There is a very cold, hostile & unfriendly sales associate by the name of "E." I was standing right in front of her on 2 different occassions while browsing in the store & she completely ignored me like I didn't even exist! She gave me a dirty look, like, "What the hell are you doing here" kind of look. "E" did greet a few people that walked into the store who were of African American & Caucasian (White) decent. "E" is an Asian girl, but I think she shows racial discrimination against her own kind. She should be fired immediately!! Someone like her will definitely damage Sanrio's business & keep loyal fans of Sanrio characters like myself far, far away from that place! ...And that's NOT all folks! The workers there are lazy and don't use their skills of observation around the store. Not only was I not greeted & welcomed into the store by any of the 3 sales associates, but I was NEVER offered any help either. I stood at the sales counter for a few minutes, while no one was there to ring up my order. When I called for help, 2 sales associates by the name of "F" & "A" took their sweet time in coming to the counter & both gave me an icy-cold dumb stare. They both gave me grave, hostile looks. "A" was a new worker being trained by "F" an older worker who helped her ring up my purchases item by item, but that seemed not to matter at all. So whether you're a new or old worker, does not make any difference at all in their behavior; the same cold, unfriendly, hostile attitude & behavior is prevalent in that place. "F" & "A" should be FIRED as well!! I regret spending my money there & really wish I hadn't. The purchase was actually for my brother who wanted me to buy 4 wallets for him. I WILL NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE EVER AGAIN & WILL TEAR UP MY BONUS CARD TO SHREDS. The workers there are NOT worthy of my time or business. read more

Haven't been into one of these stores in such a long time. Walking in I felt like I was 12 again. The gals working were super sweet and answered all my questions with a smile. I probably asked about 20 and not once were they annoyed. I follow this particular store on IG and was pretty much expecting to find everything they had posted. Sadly, I didn't because they sell out so fast. This store will actually ship items out to you. They still have their little stamp card, my only gripe was their $4 candy grab bag. I've been in the market for a new lunchbox for a while. The one I had was made of fabric and I constantly spilled stuff inside. Not a pretty picture and totally embarrassing! I knew I needed a metal lunchbox replacement & I needed a Hello Kitty one. You know...there weren't as many metal lunchboxes as I imagined. Most of them were fabric.
