Hong Kong-style café with standout potstickers The name reads Taiwanese. The menu leans Hong Kong - ju lu, mango ice, that familiar cha chaan teng universe. And then there are the potstickers, unapologetically Chinese. Put together, it sounds confusing. Somehow, it works. The potstickers are the reason to come. Properly pan-fried, crisp on the bottom, piping hot, and aromatic. The fillings--pork and shrimp - have structure and balance, not just juice for show. They arrive hot, hold their shape, and finish clean. There's a photo inside calling these the best potstickers in New York City. I didn't expect that either - but after eating them, I understand why someone would say it. - Dr. C Only writing for what truly earns the stars.

Walk past Sanmiwago quite a bit, but typically on my way to/from dinner plans so I hadn't gotten to try it until recently! I was a little pekish on my way home so I stopped by to grab some food to go. I ordered their signature pork dumplings and chive, which were solid but not my favorite pork&chive dumplings in the city. The crab Rangoon was reasonably priced as well ($6.50) so I decided to get an order of those too - the filling was sweeter than I'm used to with crab Rangoon, and didn't have the most filling. Don't think I'd get them from here again but glad I tried them! Food was fresh yet prepared quickly which I appreciated.

I got the shrimp & beef rice rolls & my girlfriend got the taro & pork/ scallion fried dumplings

the rice rolls were amazing 10/10 and she loved her dumplings. very kind people. One of the workers explained to me their upcoming dessert menu coming in summer!! very clean place as well

Cuisine: 4 Service: 3 Decor: 5 Value: 7 Overall: 4 Late night restaurants in Chinatown is quite limited. This is one of the only cheap eats snack shops open around 11:00pm. Therefore, I did not have much of a choice. Even though my previous visit was a disappointment, I decided to give it one more chance. Though priced reasonably inexpensive, everything was extremely underwhelming. If you know how real Taiwanese food tastes like, then you will know what I am talking about. The food here is well below average imho. The fact that it's cheap doesn't help. Best of the items was the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, which was average at best and sets the low bar since it doesn't get any better. The Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl was swimming in a sauce, yet lacked flavor. How is that possible? Batter on the Popcorn Chicken was so thick and the meat was overcooked. Lastly, their dumplings didn't have a crispy crust at all. All food was blah. This restaurant is more like fast food with no table service. The cashier, if you want service without a smile, seems like he was half sleeping. We placed our order and basically wait for someone to call our number and hand us our food on a tray. On this night, they gave some of our food to another group accidentally and therefore we had to wait longer for part of our meal. Bottom line, food sucks, service even worse. If you want late night food around Chinatown, go elsewhere and avoid this place.

Chinatown has so many great dumpling options, and this is one of them. Tucked away in a modest food hall, this Taiwanese food stall serves a variety of fried and boiled dumplings, and adds an egg drop soup for free with a dumplings purchase. It is no frills, but tasty.

My beef rice with basil was delicious. However, I got a stomachache afterwards. Hence the three-star rating. The cashier was polite and cleaned tables once customers left. This place opens long hours from 10 am - 2 am so it's great to have a chill place to sit down and chat whenever you want.

This place was OK. I have had veggie dumplings all around and nothing hit the spot. This place had good service, vibe was mott street food court, laid back, dumplings came with scallion and chili oil. Taste was OK.

Good. Little bit of a wait time. Crunchy. Big dumplings. $9 for 8. Filling. Plenty of seating.

Chinatown is not what it use to be and it's sad. Stumbled upon this one and only place that was opened till 2am in the area. It's great if you want a little midnight snack. Order at the kiosk, grab your receipt and have a seat. Wait for your number to be called. As mentioned in prior comments, service is slow (even at 12:30am). Maybe because the foods made to order. Got the fried dumpling & popcorn chicken combo that comes with a drink. The dumplings could have been fried a little longer, seemed like it was steamed more than pan fried. If you don't like hot sauce, let them know in advance. Apparantly they serve it with the hot sauce on top of the dumplings. Would be better if they offered milk tea in addition to their limited drink menu.

We ordered several things and shared across a few people. We ordered the Taiwanese braised pork rice bowl that was tasty and came with a soft boiled egg. We also ordered two dumplings: pork and chive, kimchi and pork. Both of those were flavorful. I also enjoyed their popcorn chicken and got a matcha tea with boba. They do serve beer here as well. Overall, everything tasted good and was fairly cheap. Side note: We came to this location because they are dog friendly. Be mindful that their other location is about a block away and doesn't allow dogs at that location.

Every dish was delicious! The ice cream tastes amazing too! The best potstickers in all of New York City--thin skin and lots of filling! Even the noodles in the beef noodle soup are flavorful! The beef portion is generous, tender, and rich in flavor! The braised pork rice is also one of my absolute favorites! This is truly an authentic Taiwanese restaurant.

I walked in and a staff took my order. I got the Taiwanese pork chop rice to-go and it was such a small portion. The rice and pork chops were separated, but the rice was such a small portion along with the toppings. It came with a sauce that doesn't remind me of Taiwanese flavor, it was sour, sweet and salty and I didn't use it. The pieces of pork chops were nicely fried, but it lacked the five spice seasoning. There were seatings available at the restaurant and it seems like a relaxing atmosphere to sit and enjoy a meal.

This used to be a great place for dumplings but quality seems to have went down. I went in today at 10/29 for a pickup order and the place smelled bad and there was a lot of hair in my food. Service was nice and fast being the only upside. Can't say much about ambience since it was empty and didn't smell good.

A Chelsea Market staple!…read more I came to NYC in 2021 and tried this place for the first time all those years ago. I'm happy to report that it was even better than I remembered! Very Fresh Noodles specializes in biangbiang (hand pulled) noodles. We got the Tingly & Spicy Cumin Lamb (Dry). It featured their signature biangbiang noodles seasoned with cumin, peppercorn, and their housemade chili oil. It's served with celery, cabbage, and tonsss of cilantro. SO GOOD! It was slurped up in minutes. The spice is mala spice, so it's a little numbing, tingly, and hurts just a bit in the best way. It definitely grows, so have a beverage on hand. The chewy noodles, spicy seasonings, and tender lamb made this dish unforgettable. Pro-tip: You can get it either dry (tossed in the sauce) or soupy!

I ordered the beef dry noodles. Their signature noodles are nice, thick, and chewy. They cooled off fairly quickly, but the center was still warm. Oily as expected but not overly so. It was definitely on the salty side. Just a little spicy but even a wimp like me was okay with it. Flavor wise, it was solid and good but nothing super unique or that I'd go out of the way for (for the dry noodles). Happy I tried it and it was tasty, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return or highly recommend friends to try them out. It's pretty pricey for a plate or bowl, but it was a big portion (and I eat a lot!). There's tons of protein, like there was almost an endless hill of beef for me. Not really much service besides taking the order and they seemed busy through lunch and the early afternoon. There's limited bar seating at the storefront or tables near the windows, but you can take your plate and walk to the basement floor for quieter seating too!

It's been weeks and I'm still thinking about the broth. It had levels of complexity and paired up with fresh noodles and tender beef that melted in your mouth, yeah, there's a reason I'm still thinking about it! I went with a friend who had never had Taiwanese food and I'm a bit sad that 886 was the first experience for her because other places after this are going to be a let down. We split the beef noodle soup, Taiwanese fried chicken and scallion pancake beef wrap. The chicken was also perfection served with an in house honey chili crisp sauce. The scallion pancake beef wrap was good but in a purist who likes scallion pancake on its own. Even though it's easy village and not Chinatown, visit this place, it is worth the visit!!! I would come back here again just for that. ambiance is nice -- solid lighting and fun art around. tables are inches apart so you will definitely hear and be sat right next to others. workers were slightly rude, the restaurant seems to be run by girls in their early 20s/teens. I went to this casual Taiwanese spot a while back with a group. The food here was overall tasty…read morewith the best thing being definitely the spicy beef & tendon noodle soup along with the braised beef with noodles which makes sense as it's a Taiwanese beef noodle spot. The rest of the dishes were still pretty tasty with a notable unique version of dan dan noodles. I didn't have a drink and I don't think anyone else did. Service was fine and the place is very casual. On a side note, I got a Tea Egg and I wouldn't really recommend it much as it lacked the flavor of most tea eggs. The first thing that arrived was one of the appetizers the Assorted Cold Dish with jade cucumber, black fungus in vinegar sauce, and spiced edamame. The portion was fine and they had a mixture of crunch and textures. It would be good to share though my preference of the mixtures was the Assorted Luwei with tofu, kelp knots, and boiled eggs. Referring to dishes braised in soy sauce, I particularly liked the kelp due to it's crunchy yet soft texture with the strips of tofu also being very tasty while the eggs as per the tea egg prior were alright. We also got as an appetizer the Spicy Braised Pig's Ear. A bunch of the other people at the table didn't really like this but I liked the texture mostly because I'm a fan of tendon and cartilage and this has that crunchy but soft texture almost like a crunchy jello. This spice was on the lighter end but it still had a little bit of heat. There was also the Seasonal Greens which were pretty tasty though not as necessary as most of the greens were included in the other dishes such as the pork chops and soups. There was also the Popcorn Chicken which had the usual white pepper and slight sweetness I associate with this version and it was solid and warm (though I wouldn't recommend it to go.) Overall, the appetizers were good but they aren't the star of this place. Best of the main dishes was as noted the Spicy Beef & Tendon Noodle Soup. Both the beef and the tendon in there were super tender. The noodles had the QQ texture I'd expect from a good Taiwanese spot. I have had richer beef noodle soups before but it was still well flavored and the bit of spice in there was a nice extra kick. A bit spicier by comparison was the Dan Dan Noodles which I was a bit surprised to see on the menu. They were prepared differently from the dan dan mein from other spots; more like a soupier noodle. By comparison to the beef/tendon noodle soup, it was more Sichuan peppercorn and spicier by comparison. Both were tasty with a slight preference to the former due to the different types of beef and I liked tasting the soup a bit better. We also got the Braised Beef With Noodles which is offered over rice or with noodles. Due to the great noodle texture, we got it over noodles of course. The beef again was tasty though I preferred it as a noodle soup. It was still good and I would order it on a different day. Our only non noodle dish was the Fried Pork Chops With Rice which was fine. The pork chops have the usual white pepper and light sweetness you find in this style though it was a bit chewy. Outside of the pork and rice, there was also some cucumbers and it came with half a boiled egg. This was as expected alright but I would recommend getting noodles as it's definitely their specialty.
