Paris brest on my new Hasami Porcelain plate + matching mug
    Vanessa N.

I love coming here and looking at the lovely ceramics and glassware. It's a very aesthetically pleasing store. They have items made by local artists and imported from Japan. Today I brought home a locally made soy candle, a Hasami porcelain mug, and matching plate. Definitely a great shop to check out when you're in Japantown! Plus the workers are helpful and friendly.

Very cute little boutique shop full of home decor, jewelry, etc. I'm glad I decided to visit it. Seems quite popular as well since it had a full house :) highly recommend ~

I love all of the Japanese items in this classy store. Lots of unique pieces that anyone would be proud to own and display.

I was gifted two custom made mugs and I absolutely love love love them! They used pictures of my cats and made several for my gifter to choose from. I actually want all of them =). The artist was able to capture my kitties facial features and personalities beautifully! The extras go on the shelf so you might just be able to buy one with my kitties on it!! I have not gone to the shop myself but if I'm ever in the area, I will definitely pop in for a lookey-see!!

Just around the corner in the same building as Tartine Manufactory is Heath Ceramics, located in the chic former industrial district called Potrero Hill. Stroll inside and you will find rows and rows of simple sturdy dinnerware that is thicker than most, and finished in a range of earthy subtle colors that can serve at a beautiful understated backdrop to the food that will be served upon it. Mind you, the prices aren't inexpensive here, but the quality is worth it, even for just a couple of pieces to cherish and take home. It's about $60/each for a dinner plate, with prices hovering around that for most pieces. Heath also makes a range of wall tiles, and their manufacturing facility dominated by a pair of massive kilns is just behind the glass windows. Be sure to check out the simple display area at the entrance that details the history of Heath Ceramics, with a newsstand next door too, also run by Heath Ceramics! A bit of a non-sequitur there, but cool to see also!

This is probably the most beautiful store I've ever visited. Every single tile, vase, cup, glass, bowl, etc. I saw was beyond stunning. The variety of colors and textures in this store were incredible. What's more, every piece seemed sturdily made. This store does fall on the pricier end, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny on your dream set. I really appreciated the store creating mock ups of color combinations for a bathroom, kitchen, or dining table. I was definitely daydreaming about future kitchen sets after seeing these examples. I'll be coming back in the future to invest in some beautiful glassware and ceramics. What a gorgeous store full of remarkable pieces!

I totally understand the return policy and the fact that they don't want you taking photos so you can find it cheaper elsewhere. Are the things more expensive than Amazon? Of course! But they have put in the effort of having a charming store where I can find all kinds of great gifts, so I am happy to pay up. I don't always know what I want to buy for someone until I see it, and I really appreciate the ability to browse in person. Our son always buys gifts here for his host families when he travels, and we take all of our SF visitors here too and they always find something great. They have such an eclectic and fun inventory!

There is no signage in the store or on the receipt regarding this policy. We were told we would have to speak with the owner the next day. When we went back the following day, the woman who claimed to be the owner pointed to an outdated, handwritten "HOLIDAY POLICY 2024". I told her that shouldn't apply to this purchase and it's disgraceful to be charging 4X the price and not be willing to refund. I was told that's the price you pay for being able to "touch the items" vs online purchases and she refused to budge on the store credit. DO NOT SHOP HERE! Attached is a photo which discredit's the shop's response and shows both the $76 charge and "outdated holiday return policy".
