After I recently complained of pain and after x-rays, my dentist referred me to Dr. Orfanos. The appointment was easy to make. I saw the doctor without any wait time. He recommended an extraction and then gave me time to ask as many questions as I needed. I left the office feeling like I was in good hands. He shares the office with two other professionals. The office is very professional and designed to move things along smoothly without frustration. There was always someone to answer the phone and provide information. The charges were broken down and provided in writing before the procedure. The day of the procedure, I arrived early but had to wait longer than what I had been told (not that much longer) because of an emergency. Even that was explained to me. The assistant who took me to the surgical room, was very personable, reassuring, and warm which is always important when having an invasive procedure. The tech who took the scan before the procedure and the anesthesiologist were more on task and seemed to know their craft which was reassuring in its own way. Overall, it seems that the office spends time and money on training their staff. Interestingly, the competence on the front end gave me confidence on the back end (the actual procedure). The pre and post op were explained in detail many times and I was also given written instructions. They require a support person to drive you there and back home and they were also given instructions. It makes sense to be repetitive to make sure the information is communicated especially when there is some stress involved in dealing with medical procedures. Overall, the experience involved less stress and pain than I thought, and I would highly recommend this doctor and practice.

They had me fast for 8 hours just to get there and be told they didn't want to do the surgery. Keep in mind this was almost a month ago. I scheduled an appointment with an allergist just for her to tell me I wasn't allergic as stated to the doctor. 2nd visit: still no surgery; they have horrible communication and I specifically let them know the only ride I had has work so that person could only pick me up. After going back and forth and telling me that won't work, they call me back and say they can accommodate this after I already told my ride they said this wouldn't work. They then tried to charge me a $200 cancellation fee because of this. Now today, I get here about 15 mins before my appointment. The front desk receptionist was very rude and clearly cannot multi-task when answering phone lines. So come to find out after all this, there is a problem with my care credit I want to use which is in my grandmothers name. I told them during the 1st visit I'd be using care credit. They had me call my grandmother and get approval which took about 20 minutes. While waiting on the approval the receptionist basically rushed me and asked if I had gotten the approval because the room was ready. After getting this approval, I'm sitting there until about 12:45pm. I watched multiple people who came in after me go in and out. By the time I had realized everyone else had left and been helped and I was STILL sitting there, I calmly walked out and rescheduled with a more reputable company who deserve my business. Once I cancelled, the receptionists had an attitude and said "she wants to cancel" and didn't know how to refund my care credit. ( I work in the veterinary field with high volume days pretty much every day, can serve all my clients in a timely manner and easily refund them using care credit. There's absolutely no excuse). Once I cancelled because of my time being wasted continuously they charged me a $200 cancellation fee despite their lack of communication about care credit. Please save yourself the trouble because this experience was severely overstimulating, the staff is rude and have terrible communication and you will be spending extra money on things you don't need, then you'll be charged for it. I can see why this place has the reviews they have. All this to not have a surgery done with them is crazy to me. Then to still expect to be charged as if the doctor missed out on opportunities when I watched ample people come in is insane. Leaving was the best option because things were heading in a different direction.

On the day of the procedure, it lasted about 30 minutes; one wisdom tooth was more complex and took a bit longer. The recovery was smooth, with no significant pain or swelling, thanks to careful adherence to the medication schedule. Five days post-surgery, I noticed only a small hematoma in a facial area. I am very grateful to Dr. Mahmood, the assistants, and the entire staff for their excellent care and support throughout this process.

The office is very COVID safe: not allowing guests in waiting rooms, monitoring temperatures, staff wearing face shields. For the procedure, I chose to go under and it was a very quick procedure (less than an hour). I only had to clamp down on the gauze for 1 hour afterwards and the bleeding disappeared. I didn't have any pain afterwards and didnt need any pain medication! I was back to eating solid food within 5 days. The office provides you with a specific syringe that you can spray into the holes left behind by the teeth to clean out any food debris stuck in the holes which was very helpful! The staff also call on you to check up and are very responsive to any questions. Dr. Mahmood is also very personable. Honestly, the most seamless experience ever, I couldn't rate any higher.

Then the dental hygienist came in and informed me that based on his review of my X-rays I needed a deep clean to remove some buildup under my gums (which he specifically said is not a new problem) but he'd be willing to do a medium deep clean. The insurance specialist informed me it would cost over $300, out of pocket. To be clear, I go to the dentist every 6 months and have my entire life. I brush twice a day and floss daily. The dentist today had no concerns about my teeth after reviewing my X-rays. No dentist (or dental hygienist) has ever recommended a deep clean before. And I was told this is "not a new problem." I declined the medium deep cleaning, the hygienist refused to do a regular cleaning and I left. The whole experience felt very scammy. And I still need to get my teeth cleaned.

Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. After my extractions, I spent well over a year attempting to obtain VA authorization for the next phase of treatment, including implants. During that time, there was little to no progress, and I repeatedly communicated with both the VA and the dental office trying to move the process forward. When the VA later requested billing records and began asking questions about charges and treatment details, I found myself caught in the middle between the VA and the dental office. I simply relayed questions and requests from the VA in an effort to get my treatment approved and completed. Instead of helping resolve the situation, communication from the office became increasingly difficult. I was ultimately told that the office could no longer discuss the matter with me because they believed I was accusing them of fraud, which was never my intention. My only goal was to obtain clarification requested by the VA so my treatment could continue. To make matters worse, when the VA attempted to move forward with authorization, I was reportedly characterized as a non-compliant patient who was refusing treatment protocols. This was shocking given the amount of time and effort I had spent trying to get the treatment completed. At no point was my goal to avoid treatment--I was actively trying to receive it. Nearly two years later, I am still dealing with the consequences of this situation and remain without the dental work that was supposed to be completed. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience. I believe patients deserve clear communication, transparency, and a genuine effort to resolve issues when they arise. For anyone who may have questions about this review, I want to be clear that every statement I made is based on documented communications and records. I have retained the email correspondence between myself, the VA, and the dental office, including communications regarding treatment authorization, billing questions, and the reasons given for discontinuing my care.
