Let's just say that for a place that calls itself Sangria Lounge, I've tried much better sangrias at other Toronto restaurants/bars. The sangrias here were pretty watered down from all the ice they put in it, and barely had any alcohol. If you wanted a shot of triple sec or other liquor in the sangria pitcher, you have to pay extra. I only give it three stars because the food was reasonably priced, and the ambience was nice for a casual night out with friends. read more

To be honest, the pad Thai here is amazing. I worked nearby and came with two of my coworkers for lunch one day. It was cute until I saw it on Facebook saying it's a great place for sangrias. Then I came today with 2 of my girls, and the waitress was amazing, bright and overall very kind. She notified us that she was leaving, and that some dude was going to take over. We all agreed to settle with her, but she said that it was okay and it'll go to her anyways. (I hope!) So when we've had a great time, we decided to ask the dude for the bill and he asked if we wanted to split the pitcher of sangria. So the bill came, and he said if you're paying by card - to go inside. So one of us went inside to pay, me and my other girl stayed at the patio to pay by cash. We hid the money because we didn't want anyone to walk by and swipe the money and left the table. (We just stacked the bills ontop of eachother so no one could steal it!) Then we walked to my girls car, and right when we were about to leave - the dude comes running at us and asked us "Excuse me, uhm? Are you going to pay the rest of your bill?!" We looked so confused... one of us said "We left the money on the table?" And he rolled his eyes and walked back towards the table, picked up the stacked money and shrugged and didn't even make eye contact with us and went back inside the restaurant. Would've given you guys 5 stars, but your staff which I'm specifically is talking about the tall white dude, shouldn't accuse people of dining and dashing when he should've checked the frigging table before running up to us like that. Also, I hope the $10 tip from the both of us that paid cash went to the lovely woman that served us before him. He was horrible and honestly the worst kind of service even if we paid and left. Left confused... Let's set the scene, shall we? Two people, ordering a brie sandwich and burger, drinking water. Nothing too exciting, but still took 35 minutes to receive after ordering. One staff member, who appeared overwhelmed, was looking after the entire restaurant (10 tables, the bar and the patio) with no help. On a Saturday afternoon at 2pm, was completely unacceptable staffing. The food was decent, but we still stopped for a palate cleanser within 10 minutes of eating. Lets just say that the burger had a distinct taste of "blah", with fries that must have been frozen (because they were stiff and cold). The brie sandwich was lacking flavour and, for $8, was nothing to write home about. We were not alone, as patrons from 3 other tables actually had to walk up to the counter to pay because the waiter was also looking after the bar. We had been here before, but after our experience, will not be recommending this restaurant at all. read more

The wait was long to get them however, and when I did, they were so hot when they had been placed into the take-out container they burned a whole into it and their greasy exterior bled a stain into my pants...How wonderful.... They were delicious and well worth the wait and it's a good thing my pants were old ones and didn't matter to me all that much. I suppose the perogies were worth the stain too. Was walking by this place today on my lunch when I noticed they had a menu posted outside. Decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised to see such low prices. The most expensive entrees was only $7.95. So I took the plunge and went inside. The place is not that big, but is very cute and cozy. I tried their House Specialty which I figured if its their house specialty than its gotta be pretty special right? I got a large dish which consisted of glass noodles stir-fried with veggies, beansprouts, shrimp (found 1), chicken and eggs. The veggies were perfectly cooked just the way I like them-still slightly crispy. It was pretty good. Friendly service and tasty inexpensive dishes. I will come back again really soon. read more

I was underwhelmed if that's a word... We went on a Saturday for lunch. The all day breakfast caught my eye, but the menu had some fresh looking choices too. Place was empty. The waiter was nice. Polite. My Order: avocado and brie sandwich with fries, "Caesar salad" and bubbly water. Issue 1: The sandwich was very forgettable, especially for $7.25. Whole wheat bread looked like grocery store bagged brown bread. And there was so little brie why bother. If I'm going for a non meat meal give me some substance. It was like brie kraft singles. Issue 2: The fries were oily and tasted nasty. Real nasty like they needed to change the oil. I'm pretty easy when it comes to fries but these made me sick. Issue 3: I have no opinion on the Caesar salad because I never got it. Now normally I'd remind them but after my first taste of everything else I just thought forget about it. Pet peeves: We were brought two squeeze bottles. One red and one yellow. The red one had ketchup. The yellow one had mus...wait...fancy mayo? Now it was OK tasting fancy mayo but I expected mustard. I like mustard so when I squeezed in onto my sandwich (which already had mayo) I was a little surprised. To me that's like having sugar and pepper shakers right? We came here for drinks on a Friday night around 10pm and our first reaction was to walk right back out as soon as we walked in. The space was quiet with soft music playing in the background, red walls with dim lighting and only about 10 other people in the whole space...including the friendly Polish bartender who sits at a table near the bar reading a book. We ended up staying though and despite the atmosphere that left something to be desired, it ended up being okay. As you can guess by the name, Sangria is their specialty/gimmick. They have 5 or so types of Sangria to pick from (red or white wine and different juices) with the option of adding a variety of liquor for an extra charge (like Brandy). They serve it by the glass or the pitcher and both are incredibly cheap. I ordered "Warm Sangria" which was just $5 a glass. It came with blueberries, peach and orange slices and a small flavourless cookie on the side. The Sangria was pretty good. They have a tiny patio out front that would be perfect for sipping Sangria on in the summer. read more

I had a great evening here last night! What a cool little spot! We were lucky to get to sit by the window and they also have a cute little patio facing the roncesvales strip. Ok the drinks are cheap which is great if you want to get a few. However most of the food is absolutely terrible. The pho isn't bad, it can't be too hard to mess up noodles and broth. Yet the same can't be said for their nachos. Cheese and chips are great unless the chips are stale. But the thing that really pissed me off was that the stale chips were mixed in with the fresh ones. My goodness how cheap can you be! And...yes there is more...it was a tiny tray with just ONE LAYER of chips for almost $10. Absolutely ridiculous. If you are starving and don't don't have a palette then this is the place for you to eat. If you just want to drink then they make a good sangria read more

I totally agree with Andrew had written and through this Sangria Lounge. I went with friend and very much thought that we would enjoy with the small n cozy place. To our surprise it was just the opposite and disgusting! Food took longer than what we've expected according to the nature of the order. The waitress lacked politeness, service and forgot that we came here to eat n give business. She doesn't listen properly n took wrong order n didn't repeat the order which we usually do to make sure. In all, at the end too she didn't ask if we need something else! What do you expect the business to run when you have this type of person/staff to work for you? We both were shocked at the end when we have to wait for the check to arrive. It was the worst of all so far in 2015 year! Hope the owner opens her eyes and go through this. Please don't expect from this place a customer service that you are looking for. Maybe they will realize or improve if they are serious to go forward. I regret for recommending my friend to step in this place. Anyways, a huge experience and a lesson learnt. read more

i recently moved into roncesvalles and i was struggling to find my go-to bar. sangria lounge definitely delivers with cheap drinks, great food with decent portions and the best music. for winter, the owner made us some warm sangrias, with a delicious apricot sauce base and a hint of cinnamon served with shortbread cookies. it was lovely! as for bar snacks i'd definitely recommend their chicken quesadillas. make sure to say hi to the owner, she's very welcoming and would love to hear from you read more

I ordered the $5.95 bacon & eggs (but w sausages instead) early Saturday afternoon and while I enjoyed the meal it could have been a lot better. The eggs and sausages were cooked perfectly- thank you! And isn't that really what the meal is all about? The tiny little pile of fries, however, was extremely undercooked... Pale and limp. The piece of toast was also very lightly toasted and covered in margarine that tastes like cheap microwave popcorn. The salad was romaine w some factory-made balsamic and canned black olives. It tasted metallic. Next time, I think I'll try the chicken & bacon wrap that my girlfriend had (and loved) and sub sweet potato fries for the regular ones! I also heard from a regular that the Pad Thai is pretty tasty. Caesars were fairly cheap ($6) and nice and basic, ol' reliable. I loved the big, badass mug of tea I was served. Being on the patio felt super unpretentious, laid-back and relaxing. We brought our well-behaved dog to snooze at our feet and there was a water bowl for her and the server was really sweet to her and made us feel comfortable and well cared for during our meal. I'm disappointed to see as many low-to-mediocre reviews for this place. I have been twice now and have only had great experiences. The service was fast and efficient, and the server most recently was very helpful in making recommendations. There is just enough variety in the menu to offer something for everyone without offering too much to make it impossible to decide on what you want. The food was nice and warm and arrived quickly. The portions were perfect for the price (all menu items are under $10). And let's not forget about the Sangria. I highly recommend the Lime Sangria with red wine and a shot of Brandy. A pitcher of Sangria with an extra shot for under $20 - that's dangerous! I will be back again soon. read more

We have had dinner at a few restaurants now since a family member recently moved to the area. This was, by far, the worst service we ever received. We had reservations, had basic orders burgers, sandwiches etc. Ordered cocktails, not bad, but the waitress was confident she could put together a margarita. What I received was a watered down glass of salt water. Horrible. First person at our table was served after at least 20 minutes....on his own. The rest waited and waited. We had to ask about our orders. They seemed irritated. We had to ask for glasses of water and cutlery at least 3 times. The other waiter was approached for cutlery, continued talking to his friend...finished his conversation first, then brought the cutlery. Waitress practically slammed the orders down, no etiquette at all for being a server and reached over members of our party to put stuff down on the table. No apologies, no excuse me. When a comment was made about the amount of fries that were received compared to a previous visit, the waiter, sarcastically asked, well, what are you saying, you want more fries...because if so, I will have to charge you extra? They were fries, not filet mignon. Also stated he had no control over the kitchen. We ate, left and sorry, no tip whatsoever. Waiter was also overheard mocking the fries situation to the waitress. Very poor service and there are plenty of people that would kill for a server job and offer good service for good tips. Owner hopefully is made aware of this. read more
