Took a bridesmaid dress in, had good ratings. The dress had to be taken in at the top and a hem, he couldn't figure out how to take it the top and added a hook. Looks terrible. Originally wanted to charge me 100$, I negotiated it to 50$, he saw that I was unhappy about the top and kept saying "there was nothing he could do, but to take it somewhere else" Paid 40$ for the hem. Now I have to find a second place to fix the top, never experienced a place where they just gave up. read more

I am very pleased with Sandoval for tailoring my Kenneth Cole suit. I went in and he asked me what I wanted from the tailoring and told him I wanted it to be sized to slim fit. I lost some weight and didn't want to have to buy smaller pairs of my favorite jeans, so I was looking to get them taken in. One shop flat out refused so I went to Sandoval's next, and there was no hesitation that the job couldn't be done. I'm assuming the man in front was Mr. Sandoval, and he was very kind. He had me try on each pair of jeans (I had three) and marked each one accordingly; he was very patient. It was only $20 per pair which is still less than what it would've cost to buy one new pair, AND they were going to be done within the week! When I picked them up, he had me try them on again and they fit perfectly. You also can't even tell that they had been taken in, which is great. I have a blazer for my thesis defense I plan on taking in next because the craftsmanship, service, and cost is all wonderful. I would highly recommend! read more

Mr. Sandoval does a wonderful job tailoring, he's great at what he does. The shop is relatively small (how large does a tailor shop really need to be?) and there are fitting rooms to try your items on in. The turn around time is reasonable and he can do a rush job if necessary. I have taken all types of clothing to the shop to get worked on including dress uniform pants, jeans, pants, and slacks. He is always diligent about taking a measure for each article I drop off and adjusts length according to how I want it depending on the item (some times you might just want your jeans to fall a little longer than you would your slacks). The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. When dropping off my clothing here I never have concerns about finish or quality. What more can I say? read more

I took my jeans here to have them tapered at the bottom. Why not just get skinny jeans you may ask? Skinny jeans simply do not fit my body type. I require stretch in my jeans to fit my muscular thighs and like them to be mid-to-high rise. I found a great pair at Levi's, the straight style, but unfortunately the bottom did not fit to my ankle as I wished. I came here to have them tapered and left happy with the service and work. He knew exactly what I wanted without me having to say much. $25 to remove about 2 inches of fabric from each jean leg. I only got it tapered, I didn't have them reduce the length because I like my jeans to be cuffed at the bottom. Also, he accepts credit cards! read more

This guy knows his stuff. I was looking for an experienced tailor in Long Beach to whom I could take my new Hugo Boss suit for basic alterations. I walked in, and the shop is definitely small - a couple of dressing rooms and a mirror stand for measurements, etc. I stopped by at around lunchtime during the week, so the flow was minimal. After trying on the suit unaltered and having my measurements taken, I had the jacket waistline tapered, the sleeves shortened, and a hem and waistline reduction in the pants. Turnaround time was about a week, and when I tried on the end product I was very pleased with the silhouette and quality of the work, especially on the jacket. Total bill was very reasonable - less than $90 for all that I mentioned above. There are definitely other tailors in Long Beach, but when it comes to altering off-the-rack men's suiting, Mr. Sandoval is most definitely a first call. By the looks of the fabric on his walls, he also does custom fab; I'll have to defer to other reviewers for that one. read more

I came into the shop after reading the reviews on yelp and was certain I would get excellent service. I called ahead of time to check the hours and took off early to make sure there was enough time to resolve my issue. When I walked in, I was greeted by a man, who I assumed was the owner, with a not-so-welcoming tone. He turned the tv down and said, "yes, what did you need?" I was caught off guard by the attitude but proceeded to open my box with a dress that needed simple straps (I already had the material). Any decent tailor could sew what I needed very quickly. However, he glanced over at the box and didn't bother unfolding his arms when he told me he couldn't help me and I was better off going next door. I explained I read all of his great reviews about how helpful he was and he insisted I should go next door. I figured if anyone was that persistent, I should just go... I walked next door and it's closed. I'm sure after working on this block for YEARS he knew the woman next door was closed but his concern was getting me out of the store. I'm a HUGE FAN of Sandoval's Tailor shop. Not only can he accommodate your request for rush alterations, he also knows how to do it THE RIGHT WAY. I should have done this review NY 2013 but I got too busy and I thought, this man deserves a 5-star rating review. So here it goes. First, I was looking for an alteration shop or anything that can accommodate my request to alter my tweed tailored jacket and leather skirt. I both got them from Zara XS (smallest size) but it was still way too big for me. As all ladies or most of you ladies can relate to me, we want the best fit (not too tight, not too loose) for everything we wear. I saw one alteration shop just right by Pine near my place that says "WE ALTER EVERYTHING" and I, of course went there, and believe me, NO THEY DON'T. So I tried to search via yelp and I saw Sandoval's Tailor Shop just by 7th street, walking distance from my place so I just told myself, I guess there's no harm in trying. I am kind of hesitant at first because I feel like he can only accommodate to male clients since that's how his shop looked haha. The moment I got in and told him about my frustrations with my recent purchase, he was positive that he can help me. He asked me to try them on and so I did. Mind you, my request was RUSH. I went there 12 PM and I'm asking to pick it up the day after at 1PM. And this was December 22, meaning this man works during the holidays? I don't know LOL. And I was asking him to tailor my "tweed and leather blazer" and leather with stones skirt. I already know it will be hard but I just want to try. He never had any hesitations in his face and that gave me a sigh of relief. He usually asks for a deposit, depends on how much you can give but I just decided I'll pay everything. $150 for both. Not pricey at all. I love this guy, and I recommended him to a few friends who have problems with their suits or blazers or even the weirdest request a person can imagine, just try. You won't lose anything. Win-win situation with this guy! I'm actually planning to go again today to have my cam is altered hahaha. Thank You Sandoval! I'm short and slim meaning most off-the-rack clothing does not fit me properly, even clothing designated as "Slim Fit". I came in today looking to have three pair of pants hemmed that a dry cleaner near by had for a week and still didn't get them done. I asked if one pair could be done the same day as I needed the pants tomorrow and the other two could wait there was no rush. Thanks to all your reviews, my expectations were in line with my experience. He did a great job tailoring the 6 items I brought in (shorten sleeves on 2 winter hoodies, taper the legs on 3 pair of yoga pants, and a simple re-sewing of seams on another pair of pants). The total cost was $120, which was a bit higher than I was hoping, but I feel was worth the price. His demeanor is a little rushed, but overall I will def bring more difficult tailoring to him in the future, and use my dry cleaner to do the easy stuff (like re-sewing the seams, which she only charged me $5 for another pair of pants). read more

I went in today to get a dress's zipper fixed, but for the price of the dress to get a whole new dress I didn't find it worth it. The man then took his own time and fixed the zipper by hand and even put wax on the whole zipper in hope I could at least wear it a few more times.
