The second time I wanted some patches sewn on my jeans and they wanted a ridiculous price. A few dollars more and I could buy new jeans. I didn't use them that time. Recently, I tried them again. I needed a zipper sewn on my vest. They charged me $60 dollars which I thought was outrageous but my girlfriend had dropped the vest off and I felt it was a done deal. I've been here a few times before and I've had the older man, who Im assuming is the father, help me. I had no complaint fair prices reasonable turn around. I also get majority of my clothes especially pants altered and have been doing so since about 2012/2013. Now I get helped by another guy and I got finessed. I paid more than double this time for the same service I've gotten before for half the price. I paid more for a simple alter on Levi's, than I paid for the jeans themselves. Came here to get the skirt of my dress hemmed. When I came in to drop it off, he asked if I needed to try it on to make measurements (which is good) But I had already made the mark of where I wanted it shortened prior to coming in. I was getting about 2-3 inches cut, and he quoted me $20. I dropped it off on Monday, and asked for pick up on Thursday. Took a little while for them to find my dress when I came to pick it up on Thursday, but rest assured when they finally found it and it was tailored perfectly. Great and easy service. This guy is awesome at his craft - let's state the facts but has such an arrogant attitude! If you don't care about the customer service and just want a great job on your clothes- he's your man! I will need to find someone else because I expect both and yes, I'm willing to pay the price for excellent customer service and a great job! Here's what happened, my husband has taken him clothes over the last year and loved his work! I decided to take my skirt that needed a ton of work. When I walked in, he decided to tell me he would be too expensive and I should take it else where and suggested a cheaper option. Most may think that's really thoughtful. I personally didn't take it that way at all. I didn't care about the price, I went to see him because I knew he was great and wanted him to do it. I wasn't seeking cheaper options. I was never even given a chance to make the decision, he just assumed that this girl was either to cheap or too poor to pay for it. I thanked him for his time and asked him what the price would be as I walked out to the place he suggested. Sad part was, I thought the price he finally decided to quote me was reasonable based on what needed to be done. I just opted not to say anything. Listen, I know small businesses need to run and require them to price accordingly so I get it and I'm happy to pay to keep them here! I just wish he would have not been so quick to assume I wouldn't want to pay. I am torn writing this review because I do think his work is fabulous but disappointed by his approach. This Tailor shop was referred to me by Trumaker. I had purchased a blazer and had lost some weight while in the process. They had Sandoval's on their list. So it was a referral. Parking is parking when it comes to that area. However its right in front. The shop is small and yet it has a sitting area and two dressing rooms. The tailors there are courteous as they greeted me instantly. I had explain why I was there and they understood. They did my fitting and measured it for reference so I can send it back to Trumaker. After that was done I grabbed my jeans from the car and asked him for a hem and taper. Returning a week after the fit of the blazer and the jeans were just right. It was way better than my previous tailor in Cerritos. I am very pleased. A bad tailor can make a $1,000 feel like a $100 suit and a great tailor can make a $100 suit fell like a $1000 suit. read more

I've never been to a tailor before. I've only purchased 2 suits in my entire life. 7 years ago for prom and a couple of days ago for an interview & wedding. The only tailor I've ever dealt with prior to this point was the individual that was hired within the location of where I bought my suits and T-Swizzle. I opted out of using the aforementioned tailor due to location inconvenience, time constraints and pricing. This was my first experience dealing with a tailor who was a small business owner and I have to say I was impressed. I was blown away by the customer service of the gentleman who took care of me. Not only was he efficient, but he was very thorough and even offered some suggestions on how to save money on alterations. He was incredibly nice and courteous and you could just tell he's good people. The consumer-friendly prices and time it took to complete the work were definitely the cherry on top. Mr. Sandoval is the best tailor in Long Beach. I have been using his services since 1990 when I was still in college and THOUGHT I knew fashion. He has altered dozens of suits, pants, coats and other items during this time. He has also advised me to NOT alter some items that would not fit my shape or style. He is one of the few tailors in the are that makes custom suits as well. We are not talking cheap fabric either, his cloth selections are the best. Mr Jose Sandoval is a master at his art. --Work done: I purchased a suit that fit me decently right off the rack from JCrew several months back. Since my purchase though -- I've lost nearly 20 lbs. So not only was the sleeves of the jacket initially long for me in the first place, the chest and waist were way too loose. So while putting the jacket on in front of the mirror in the shop, he nodded to me and said "this won't be a problem, but what are you looking for additionally?". This question my friends, is where it's important to KNOW what you want! I like my suits very slim, very close to the body. So that's what I told him. He pinched the rear of the jacket in small increments until I told him "there!" -- he pinned it to keep it in place. This goes for the sleeve length as well. We talked about pricing, and told me I could pick it up on Saturday (I dropped it off on a Wednesday). --The Result I'm nothing short of satisfied, and impressed. He helped me put the jacket on in the shop, checked it out in the mirror, and it's exactly what I wanted. When I got home, I double checked the stitching, alignment, buttons, etc. And I couldn't find any wrong. This was my first experience using Sandoval tailoring and I can happily say it will not be my last. I dropped off a pair of slacks I purchased a few years back to have some length taken off. The modern style these days are a real skinny fit and even a flooded, or an "above ankle" look. I requested for them to shorten it to give me this look and they achieved it perfectly! I dropped my pants off Thursday and the man who sized me up told me they would be ready next day by 11 AM, I came back to pick them up but they weren't done. He realized what time he had promised them to me and apologized but he was able to complete them for me in about 10-15 minutes.
