After an awesome evening jet-skiing with Virginia Beach Watersports, nothing felt more perfect than topping off the night at Sandbridge Sugar Shack! Nestled just steps from the beach, this vibrant, welcoming spot is the ultimate destination for anyone craving a classic ice cream experience with a nostalgic, summer-y vibe. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is buzzing with energy. Families and friends all gathered for the perfect post-beach evening snack, and the smell of freshly baked cones in the air. Their menu features a dazzling array of flavors, from creative combos to the tried-and-true classics. I had a tough time narrowing it down, but I finally settled on the chocolate chip cookie dough, one of my all-time favorites. To make it even better, I added a generous scoop of chocolate sprinkles, all piled high into a crisp, golden-brown cone. Every bite was a throwback to childhood summers. So rich, creamy vanilla ice cream loaded with soft chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough, with those chocolate sprinkles adding an extra layer of texture and sweetness. The cone itself was perfectly crunchy, holding up to every last bite. My friends each tried something different birthday cake, and soft serve and everyone agreed this was some of the best ice cream we'd had in ages. Service was speedy and super friendly, even with a line out the door (a sign of how beloved this place is). The outdoor seating made it easy to kick back and enjoy the warm summer night, and the ocean just a short stroll away. If you're wrapping up a day on the water or just looking for the perfect summer dessert, Sandbridge Sugar Shack can't be beat. It's a must-visit for anyone in Virginia Beach! read more

The staff at sugar shack was very friendly. Hersheys ice cream but portions were good- just expensive. Little confusing as the board doesn't match the flavors in the case, yet we were told the ones on the board we could still get from the back freezer... until we go to order and that is actually not the case. Wish the menu options were a little clearer so you don't have to pivot a bunch. read more

Smells so great when you walk in. They were making fresh waffle cones. YUMMM. Friendly Hello and you know I love friendly service. Love their chalk board menu. It has such a classic ice cream shop vibe. Very conviently located. As soon as we are leaving the beach they are right there close to the stop light. And Honestly who would say no to a wonderful cold treat after a day on the beach. Plus it is nice and cool inside. They also have a lot of outside seating. The only draw back is that there is NO bathroom. I really wanted to wash my hand from being on the sandy beach. So we went across the street to the public restrooms. I got the waffle cone. Nice and fresh and crunchy. Great flavor. They have such a great variety of ice cream flavors. I had a hard time choosing but I went with the strawberry cheesecake. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! We got the caramel chocolate brownie in a little cup to try a 2nd ice cream and it was rich and delicouse read more

Stopped by the Sugar Shack for a mid week, after lunch sweet treat. They serve Hershey's ice cream and while it's a basic brand, the flavors they have chosen are more than your basic flavors! I really loved the oatmeal cookie ice cream. The portions are huge with the kiddie cup being more than enough for each of us. It's a cute little shop with only one small table inside and many picnic tables outside. It looks like they do a bunch of regular special events like fairy hair, live music, and face painting so be sure to check them out! read more

Great local ice cream spot!! When in Sandbridge you gotta drop by sugar shack for their ice cream. So many flavors and so hard to choose. They let you try to help you pick your flavor. They are also very very generous on their scoops. I get the kiddie cone and it's still huge! We came back during the night right before their closing time at 9pm and the line was outside the door. They were so nice cause they didn't turn people away that were waiting in line and more that came past their 9pm closing time. Awesome local shop to support!! read more

This place is a staple of Sandbridge. I love the coffee cookies and cream flavor! I come here every summer and miss it year round.

Great locally owned ice cream shop. There's a good choice or flavors and the servings are huge! Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Ice cream was good the service was fast and nice. the ambiance is cute. Sandbridge Sugar Shack is a charming little ice cream shop with a fun, beachy vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back feel of the area. Lovely service and delicious ice cream. Who knew Hershey's made excellent ice cream like this bulk. This is a Sandbridge institution so prepare for lines. It's not cheap but you're supporting a small seasonal business & the portions really are huge. Everyone was so happy in line and they never ran out of our favorite flavors. I was craving ice cream and needed something close by so we stopped at Sugar Shack. The place was packed with tourist looking to get their fill of sweets. This was a pretty great ice cream shop. The line outside was pretty long, which was a good indicator of how the food was. There's only a couple of Ice cream shops over here which is why the line is usually long around peak hours. We went towards the end of the day, so there were a lot of ice cream flavors that were sold out (kind of a bummer). Got the single scoop waffle cone which was a lot more ice cream than I expected which was great! And I also got a smoothie which was pretty sub par. Definitely stick with ice cream here. The smoothie was too watery. Overall, 4/5 would go again for the ice cream! read more

Super sour taste in my mouth after visiting this place. When we entered the store we weren't greeted instead an employee kept on running her mouth about a certain customer who "didn't tip". She then made a sweeping generalization that "older people just don't tip" with both of my parents in the store. She continued on to complain about how she isn't paid enough, and customers need to understand that. It was just an awkward experience, and honestly soured the evening. read more

Great ice cream and home made waffle cones. Large selection and pleasant staff. The perfect place to satisfy that sweet tooth.

Truly the worst service I've ever received. The rudest and most unhelpful teenagers and thats coming from ME who is a teenager. Totally ruined my experience trying to take my little nephew out for ice cream. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

Awesome food and service. They were quick, efficient a d friendly. The food was delicious a d hot. The best part was their desserts.

Picked up some mint chocolate chip for the family and decided to switch it up with a caramel macchiato blenjava. The taste was better than a Starbucks caramel Frappuccino in my opinion! Staff were courteous and attentive. read more

Nice little ice cream place on quiet Sanbridge Beach. Notching one star because the service wasn't the most friendly. They aren't letting you inside right now because of COVID so it was hard to see the flavors up close. Decent ice cream, but not homemade or anything. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Never have I been in an ice cream shop/cafe where the employees are mean and rude to young kids. Do yourself and favor and stay as far away from this place as possible. when my son was taking a few minutes to decide they just picked one, shoved it into our hands and way overcharged us for it. We arrived at 9:30 pm with a bunch of excited kids. The store closes at 9 pm but the employees were finishing helping some people and told us to come on in. They were helpful and really delightful considering they were being kept so late after closing. I really could not recommend this place enough! read more
