The staff at sugar shack was very friendly. Hersheys ice cream but portions were good- just expensive. Little confusing as the board doesn't match the flavors in the case, yet we were told the ones on the board we could still get from the back freezer... until we go to order and that is actually not the case. Wish the menu options were a little clearer so you don't have to pivot a bunch. read more

Smells so great when you walk in. They were making fresh waffle cones. YUMMM. Friendly Hello and you know I love friendly service. Love their chalk board menu. It has such a classic ice cream shop vibe. Very conviently located. As soon as we are leaving the beach they are right there close to the stop light. And Honestly who would say no to a wonderful cold treat after a day on the beach. Plus it is nice and cool inside. They also have a lot of outside seating. The only draw back is that there is NO bathroom. I really wanted to wash my hand from being on the sandy beach. So we went across the street to the public restrooms. I got the waffle cone. Nice and fresh and crunchy. Great flavor. They have such a great variety of ice cream flavors. I had a hard time choosing but I went with the strawberry cheesecake. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! Stopped by the Sugar Shack for a mid week, after lunch sweet treat. They serve Hershey's ice cream and while it's a basic brand, the flavors they have chosen are more than your basic flavors! I really loved the oatmeal cookie ice cream. The portions are huge with the kiddie cup being more than enough for each of us. It's a cute little shop with only one small table inside and many picnic tables outside. It looks like they do a bunch of regular special events like fairy hair, live music, and face painting so be sure to check them out! read more

I was craving ice cream and needed something close by so we stopped at Sugar Shack. The place was packed with tourist looking to get their fill of sweets. They have a nice variety of flavors and even offered a sugar free flavor which was a nice little surprise. The prices were a little high and the ice cream was just ok. read more

It's not cheap but you're supporting a small seasonal business & the portions really are huge. Everyone was so happy in line and they never ran out of our favorite flavors. This was a pretty great ice cream shop. The line outside was pretty long, which was a good indicator of how the food was. There's only a couple of Ice cream shops over here which is why the line is usually long around peak hours. We went towards the end of the day, so there were a lot of ice cream flavors that were sold out (kind of a bummer). Got the single scoop waffle cone which was a lot more ice cream than I expected which was great! And I also got a smoothie which was pretty sub par. Definitely stick with ice cream here. The smoothie was too watery. Overall, 4/5 would go again for the ice cream! read more

Super sour taste in my mouth after visiting this place. When we entered the store we weren't greeted instead an employee kept on running her mouth about a certain customer who "didn't tip". She then made a sweeping generalization that "older people just don't tip" with both of my parents in the store. She continued on to complain about how she isn't paid enough, and customers need to understand that. It was just an awkward experience, and honestly soured the evening. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Never have I been in an ice cream shop/cafe where the employees are mean and rude to young kids. Do yourself and favor and stay as far away from this place as possible. when my son was taking a few minutes to decide they just picked one, shoved it into our hands and way overcharged us for it. We arrived at 9:30 pm with a bunch of excited kids. The store closes at 9 pm but the employees were finishing helping some people and told us to come on in. As a small business owner myself, I as very impressed with the employees' willingness to help a group of thirteen a half hour after closing. They were helpful and really delightful considering they were being kept so late after closing. I really could not recommend this place enough! read more

The best ice cream place I've been to in my life. Actually this is the best place I've ever been to. My happy place. I'm a huge fan of the elaborate decorations that are literally EVERYWHERE and the bathroom that has an old man statue staring at you is ever so pleasing. A MUST SEE!!! also the ice cream is wonderful. The selection is plentiful. Prices beyond reasonable. They give you a huge sample on a real spoon so they waste plastic. Very Eco friendly. But the best is arrangement of 50 markers and paper to color on. If that weren't enough they have an eye spy game for you to place while you eat. Enough said. The best place. read more

Ocean Rentals does way more than just tours. They rent out beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, surfboards, paddle boards, even golf carts and linens if you're staying in a beach house. Basically, they've got everything you'd need for a trip to Sandbridge or VB. After the tour we stayed for dinner at Blue Pete's, which was the perfect way to end the night. Great food and drinks. Note that the dinner is not included in the kayak tour! If you're looking for something memorable to do in the area, I can't recommend the sunset kayak tour enough. It's just a beautiful way to see a different side of Virginia Beach away from the crazy tourism!

We were staying close to 8th street and it took us about 10mins to drive to rent the electric bikes. We never even had to charge our bikes the battery life they gave us to them with was the same on returning them!! Only con is I wish they were closer to the oceanfront but they rent 6 seater & 8 seater golf carts and they deliver those and they have moke's it's actually a nice place to look around in as well! On top of the great ice cream, the store itself has a warm, welcoming feel with a fun, family atmosphere. The girls working there are always super pleasant. They're located right in Sandbridge next to Baja, so it was super convenient to grab a couple of pizzas to bring along for the ride. We even brought cupcakes to celebrate a birthday. Highly reccomend this. Ryan was our boat driver, and he couldn't have been nicer. He made sure we were comfortable, gave us just enough info about the area, and let us enjoy the views at our own pace. The back bay is stunning. The peaceful water, gorgeous skies, and when the sun started to set, it was absolutely beautiful. I think we all had one of those "wow, we live here" moments. I'd recommend bringing a sweatshirt, since it does get chilly once the sun goes down! One thing I loved was how many options Virginia Beach Watersports has. Besides the pontoons, they've got jet ski rentals, watersports, kayaks, stand up paddle boards ... you name it. One day I'll definitely be back to try a jet ski day, just not quite yet! And the location. Being right next to the Baja is great if you want to continue the fun after your boat ride! If you're looking for something fun to do with friends or family that feels a little different but relaxing, I can't recommend this enough. Great location, great staff, and a gorgeous night on the water.

There is one nice wide family slide for everyone. There is one super steep one that my six year old braved successfully. The last two are like a twisty open one and then a twisty closed tube style. No life jackets are allowed on the slides but the lifeguards literally stand there and catch your kids and take them back to the side to get out and go again. I was there by myself outnumbered and nervous about my nonswimming kids and no life jackets but quickly relaxed and realized my kids were safe and having the time of their lives. The lifeguards were happy to pass my kids to me but also totally fine if I got out to go do the family slide with one of them if needed. That's always the tricky part of being outnumbered by kids - when the pack wants to split up and I can't be two places at once. Anyway the snack bar food was pretty terrible but pizza was alright. You can bring in a cooler though. Next time I'll pack a full picnic for everyone. They do a lot of adult swims so the lifeguards can rotate but that gives everyone a chance to grab a snack and potty and also gave us a nice window to exit. The pool temp was fantastic and the water was clean. It's a government facility so there's some stuff that could use an upgrade naturally but for $10 a person I was impressed!

Other than that small detail (I had to stop at a reenlistment picnic to ask someone for directions), it is a smash hit and we love it! I am only bummed we didn't know about it last summer! Admission is $6 for active duty, retirees, reservists, & eligible family members, $8 for guests (up to 2 guests per adult w/ ID), kids 3 and under are free. Season passes are based on the number of people in your family... 1= $60, 2= $110, 3= $135, 4= $170, 5= $200, 6= $225 Despite the website's direction that no outside food is allowed and you must purchase food from concessions, *EVERYONE* brings a cooler with lunch in it. So, pack away and save yourself a fortune in concession stand prices. This is a clean and well-maintained facility, for sure. They offer pavilion rental and swimming lessons, which is great! One thing you'll want to warn your kids about ahead of time is "adult swim time" which is a 15 minute break for the kids from the pool they allows the adults to enjoy the facilities (and helps prevent sun-poisoned, exhausted kids)... my kids were upset because adult swim happened 10 mins after we arrived. Oops! There is plenty of seating and it's not so crazy (or wasn't today) that there are long lines... if you get here in time to snag a table, you'll have shade under an umbrella, but annoyingly, people fill the tables with their stuff (even though they aren't sitting there) and you'll be left without shade unless you plan ahead. The snack bar is an array of popsicles, string cheese, burgers, and preservative-packed packaged food that will run you between $0.50 and $5.00 per item. Not terrible on price, really, but far from health-friendly. Better than nothing! For $6/$8 per person, it's a great time. Pack a lunch to save more money, bring as many friends as you can fit in your car. We will be back!

We love the fact that we can bring our son's bike back in for an up-grade/ trade-in, as well as my husband's, and they are more than willing to assist. I am "gearing -up" to bring my Specialized oldie-but-goodie in for a complete make-over, because I just can't part with the old gal. Every positive visit to Trek has been learning about inventory and exploring bikes and merchandise at our leisure with no sales pressure, whereas the "neighboring store," told my four year old to "get off of that bike," and those jerks lost 3 sales unbeknownst to them.
