Love this place! Great Surf/Skate apparel and gear. Surf camp is a must every year. The staff running the camp are some of the best in Virginia Beach. They even remembered my son name from last year. I see Surf & Adventures beach rental's all over Sandbridge. Must be doing something right. Bought this 8 ft soft top board last year. My son loves it. I always love stopping by the shop even if I don't need anything just to see what's new.

Can here for some kayaking in the back bay. We had reservations for 9:30am-11:30am. Ample parking out back behind the front office. We were in a group with 8 people total and with a guide. Very easy to get in and out of the water, they have a special dock! We made reservations on a day that ended up being 95 and a heat warning. BRING WATER. I wish I would have had 2 water bottles. They can easily be stored on your kayak. The trip was a little harder than most of my previous kayak trips. There was no breeze for almost the entire trip, and because it's a bay (with some tributaries), there wasn't a current either. Made paddling more work. Our trip ended up being more like 3 hours. Our guide was nice...at least for the short time I could hear her. She mainly stayed at the very front of the group and never really let us catch up other than at the half way point. Personally, I didn't think there was much to look at here. I'm used to doing a lot of rivers, and the ocean...but there just wasn't much to appreciate aside from lots of tall grass on both sides. For that reason don't think I would kayak here again.

Well organized enterprise that employees young and professional staffers. The kayak ride was different and it was beautiful. The pictures can tell more than I can ever describe. You will probably be there alone, except for a few water snakes.

Love kayaking here! We go here twice in the summer for the past 3 years. It's located at Sandbridge. It's only $26 for a single kayak or might as well do a double kayak for for $28 (2 seaters). They give you a map before you head out so you don't get lost kayaking. They warn you about snakes too. And they are not lying about that! We saw one just once, but they honestly won't do anything. You would just need to pass them without bothering them. You go through A swampy area first, which takes Less than 10 minutes to pass by it if you keep paddling. We went this past June and the swampy part got really messy with branches everywhere! It was so hard to paddle around them. We definitely ran into them and trees. Then after the swamp part, you're in this shallow area with long grass. It's very calm and relaxing. Then after that it's the open bay. It's absolutely amazing. You can paddle as far as you want, but you have to get back after 5 hours. I would say it took us about 2-3 hours to the bay and back. We took many breaks and some relaxing moments just enjoying the view and breeze. Make sure to bring some snacks, sun screen, and water. But don't drink too much water or you'll need to go pee and there's no place to do that! Lol so use the bathroom before you go. Great place to kayak!

Located just before Sandbridge Beach in Va. Beach is this wonderful surf shop that has rentals as well for beach equipment. They have the typical beach gear for sale like surfboards, skateboards, and beach attire. But we're here to rent a kayak. You can either rent a kayak to take with you or rent to launch from their dock behind their store. They have a marsh dock which eventually turns into the bay. You can go into the bay if you want and explore the area. It's a good nature kayak experience. You just have to be back at the dock by 5 pm so explore away. It's a pretty unknown spot to kayak from but it is definitely worth it. For a single kayak, it costs $27 and a double is $30. It's a reasonable price since we have all day to kayak. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Will continue to come here for kayaking adventures!

Luckily I brought a print out of my receipt and they had to re-enter all my information. I was told that they require the rental to be returned on Friday and they could come by and pick them up from our condo but it had to be before 5 when they required them returned. Made the last day there a little short when we had to shut down by 4pm. They brought out the chairs and umbrella to put in my vehicle and they were covered in sand. They were all in fairly good condition considering it was the end of the season. So day one I end up with a load of sand in the car. I called Friday morning to arrange the pickup and was told I would have to bring them back. Though not a big deal, it cut our last day shorter and not what they said they would do. When I did take them back right at 4 pm I discovered why. They were holding a sale of all their chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, etc from that season. There was no where to even pull in and drop them off. All the employees were running around selling crap and it took five minutes to get someone to even talk to me. He told me to drive around back and drop them off at the storage building. Once I finally was able to maneuver to the back, there was no one there to help me. I was now stuck back there as other cars had pulled back there. I walked back to the front and again had to wait to talk to someone. This guy told me to grab my stuff and just stack it up front. I said I needed to make sure I got credit for returning everything, he asked for my name and said he would make sure it was marked off. He asked my name and said he's got it. I went back, carried it all to the front without any help and dumped it by the front steps. I found the guy and as we were standing out front in the chaos I asked him if he has me covered, he said yes and when I asked him my name he had no idea. Went in the store and there were lines at all the registers 3-4 deep all purchasing the end of season crap. When I finally got to a register, I told the woman that my stuff was sitting on the ground out front and I needed a receipt that I returned it all. She typed around in the computer and of course couldn't find me again. She finally found my rental from my phone number and said I was good to go. I told her I needed a printed receipt and she asked why. Ridiculous customer service! All they cared about that day was making a buck. Will never use them again.

They…read moreadvertise it ending at 12pm, but then when you are there, they tell the kids the schedule of the morning and they say they end at 11:30am. So if you were to drop off and leave, your kid might be there 30 mins after camp waiting around for you. 2) you should not drop off unless your kid is old enough to be at the beach alone. The kids in this camp range form about little (maybe 6?) to teenagers, but there is definitely not much close supervision of the kids, and it is a public beach so anyone else is right there on the sand and in the water. I'm not sure how other surf camps are, but this seemed like a huge group of kids (40-50). Many of the parents stayed and supervised on the beach. I stayed, and I'm glad I did because I don't think the counselors would have known if a kid wandered off on the beach. One of my sons did wander off a bit and even I couldn't find him for a few minutes! Kinda scary. I found him playing in the sand (he is 9 and can swim) but I was freaked for a minute. It's hard to see the kids in the water because there are so many, so close together and its a bit far out from the sitting sand. 3) They say that there is a VB lifeguard, but the lifeguard stand was empty until 10am, when I'm guessing the VB lifeguards start. So from 8-10am, there was not a lifeguard. The sand also got really crowded around 10am, and there were non-camp people sitting everywhere in front of me and around me, making it harder to keep an eye on my kids in the water. 4) It is what you make of it. One of my kids was not that into it and spent half the time just goofing off in the sand. No one encouraged him to get back on his board and try to surf. My other kid was more into it and linked up with a camp counselor who helped him learn to surf. So if you kid is into surfing and will make a point to seek out an instructor to help him, then he'll benefit. For my other son though, I felt like I spent a bunch of money to watch him play in the sand. 5) Most of the counselors are teenagers. One or two adults. Wes Laine was there and was in charge but I did not see him actually teaching kids to surf. He seemed to just stand around in the sand. It was a cheaper surf camp than others, but I will do something smaller and more organized next time. At the end, they had a "pizza party" at Coastal Edge. An obvious attempt to get everyone to the store to buy stuff, but they did hand out "Surf Camp" hats that one of my sons loves.

You can tell how passionate they are about surfing and how pumped they are for the kids to feel that same exhilaration from the sport. There were about 12 kids during this first week of summer ranging from 6 years old to 13...all were able to catch their own waves and had the biggest smiles doing so. Seth shares photos each night on his Facebook page. I could see my daughter's look of concentration standing on the surfboard and her huge smile when she reached the shoreline. Classes start early at 8 AM and go until noon. The surf school had new rash guards for the kids (blue and red so they can keep track of everyone in the ocean) and also had wet suits available. Of course they supply the boards. Croatan is a small beach with nice restrooms and changing facilities. The parking lot is free before 9 AM, so if you wanted to stay at the beach to relax while your kids are at camp you can although the school recommends you not stay in case your child gets distracted or self-conscious knowing you are there. My daughter was begging me to stay on the 3rd day to watch her surf because she was so proud of herself. Lucky for us we have family in Virginia Beach and return often to visit. I plan to sign my daughter up for more sessions with Seth Broudy's Surf School.

I brought a little mini speaker to play some low music while we floated and it was such a vibe. Ocean Rentals does way more than just tours. They rent out beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, surfboards, paddle boards, even golf carts and linens if you're staying in a beach house.
