I came here for a friend's birthday with a group of 5 on a Friday night. The VR experience itself was quite fun and immersive, I really felt like I was in a mansion fighting off hordes of zombies! We all worked up quite a sweat. My main complaint here is that it is fairly pricey (we paid $40 each) for a really short amount of time. The timeslot you reserve is about 40-45 minutes, but about half of that time is spent signing in and gearing up. So in reality, we only played 20-25 minutes. And customer service could have been better. What was even worse is that my gun stopped working about 10 minutes in. It turns out that I had accidentally pressed the power button, thus killing the connection between the computer and gun. It was really confusing since the laser sight was still showing in game, but I wasn't feeling any haptic feedback from the gun. Since I didn't know what was going on, I kept attempting to shoot about 5 more minutes. After realizing that I was absolutely useless to my team (and dying about 3-4 times), we all started yelling to try and get the attention of our attendant. It took them about 5 minutes more to come in and turn the gun back on (since obviously we didn't know where the switch was). I got to play another couple minutes at the end, but the fact is that I was really only playing for half the time. My main complaint is that they never informed us where the power button was or what area to avoid touching on the gun. A simple warning would have sufficed to avoid this situation. In fact, the gun was handed to us while we already had our headsets on, so we had no way of knowing. So even handing us the gun earlier would have been helpful. They never tried to remedy the situation either. A simple offer of a free/discount session next time, or even a discount off of whatever I paid would have been a nice good faith effort to maintain a good customer rapport. Instead, they just said that I shouldn't have pressed the button (and that's it). I left with a slightly sour taste in my mouth from that, having paid $40 to essentially play 10 minutes. All in all, it was an experience worth trying once. But the price combined with lacking customer service means that this was a one-time novel experience for me. read more

Sadly no t an enjoyable experience. The entire games we had technical issues and toward the end one of the players backpack even died completely and had to get a refund. We spent the entire time on pause. And prior to that, we also waited almost an hour after our reservation time. The staff member that helped us was very nice and tried to be helpful, but overall was not pleased with our outcome. read more

Great bonding experience! Highly recommended for professional or personal events. We did amber sky and Star Trek both are very exciting. Personally I loved amber sky more cause there's more shooting. I've been to the San Mateo location, and this would probably be my go to. This location seemed more modernized and the rooms and gear are way more ventilated. The employees aren't very enthusiastic compared to the San Mateo location, but I guess the actual entertainment makes up for it. Would definitely come back again to this location. Minus 1 star because they weren't the friendliest and our guns stopped working multiple times during the game. read more

SOOOOOOOOOOO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My friends and I did the zombie mansion one, and it definitely got my heart rate up. I was initially hesitant (because I'm not good with gore), but it's definitely doable haha. I highly recommend it! It's hilarious to hear other groups. My vest and backpack completely did not work so the entire experience was beyond boring. I had no haptic feedback so I could not even tell when I was supposed to be in danger or to shoot. This place was pretty fun, again like a lot of reviews, beware the duel pistols, they tend to not work as well (had to delay our session rebooting mine), and I wish the video was longer. This was fun but it felt like something was missing. I'm not sure but there was a feeling of excitement missing from the air in this place. It felt like the employees were simply reciting lines and didn't really feel passionate about the product. I think some music might help both in-game and around the venue to make it feel more electric. Maybe also some videos of the VR-action. I would avoid showing the actual people with their headsets on. Most everyone looks rather silly swiping at the air, like a blind person being teased so avoid showing out-of-VR silliness. Lastly those seats are terrible. Sit on the edge and they will fall over. Obviously who ever designed those seats has no experience with furniture. read more

It's a fun experience. It took them a long time to get our game set up because one of the vests was not working. Our 7:20pm game started at 8:30pm because of that TECHNICAL GLITCH!! Luckily the guy who joined our party was kind enough to wait and join another group so we could all play together. Otherwise, we would've had to comeback another day for our group to play together. Really coooool of that guy to change his game for us. This game/place is NOT the best for some with physical disabilities. Plus....Staff didn't do a great job of explaining certain items. read more

We had a 7:20 spot but when we got there to check in I guess they bumped us to 7:35, which was not a big deal. We went in as a group of 5. We got grouped with someone else who was a party of 1. After we put all the gear on and went into the room, it was time for the headsets. The headset equipment failed for 1 person in our group and after they tried to fix it for 45 minutes, they couldn't. They wanted the 1 person in our group to sit out of the game while the rest of us played or we could opt to all reschedule to another time. That's COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE to me. The 5 of us have different lives and it's not easy for us to coordinate a time for us all to meet up. We signed up to play together. So we don't want to play while 1 of us sits out of the game! Unfortunately they couldn't get us into another room until 11pm that night because everything else was booked. I would expect if one headset failed, they would have a replacement they could just swap out. But they didn't. They wanted to let the 4 of us play and give us a refund for the 1 person whose equipment didn't work. Or we could opt to reschedule our entire group of 5. Both undesirable options. After 5-10 minutes of debate, the party of 1 who joined our group finally agreed to join a later group for a time slot 20 minutes later. This allowed us to use the 5 working sets of equipment and to play together as a group. If that person had not agreed to do this, we would have been shit out of luck. Then of course the entire recap summary at the end had that other person's name and photo instead of the person in our group. The VR experience itself was fun, but navigating the equipment failure situation to allow us to play together was not. read more

The website says there's a 5 minute grace period and they cancel the appointment at 10 minutes. We showed up 7 minutes late after driving two hours to get here. Two minutes past the grace period and they absolutely would not let us start. I asked if we could just end the experience early and the guy said "I wouldn't want to do that to you". So instead, they offered to allow us to come back some other time. We come back the next week. And I enjoyed the experience. It was my first time with VR. However, the audio on one side of my headphones kept going out, one of my friends had no audio at all the entire time after the guy helping us sort of gave up on getting it fixed because we were running out of time, and - not as big of a deal but still kind of annoying - my partner didn't get the gun she wanted for the zombie mission. She wanted an automatic weapon where she could just hold the trigger but she was given one where she was forced to press over and over again to shoot and she said it left her wrist/hand hurting after the experience. I'd go back if there weren't as many technical difficulties that they seemingly couldn't really fix. read more

My group spontaneously decided to do VR last weekend. Two of our people went here before & were hyping the experience up. I'll have to admit, the VR experience lived up to hype. It was sooooo cool. We did the Zombie level. It was lightweight scary to start, but ended up being really cool. The graphics are really great & so are the other things that add to the experience...sound, fans, etc. One of the best parts is the video montages they let you watch at the end. You also get to keep those videos. The staff were very helpful & nice. They were easy to talk to & accommodating. The place is clean, well maintained and decorated simply but modern. Unfortunately, I do have remove one star due to the wait time. We had reserved for 7:15pm, but we didn't enter our room till almost 9:30pm. To be fair, they were upfront about the delay in time and told us right when we entered the building. They said it was due to a few of their rooms not working. They offered a $50 voucher for the inconvenience and wait. However, we were visiting from a different city, and the voucher would be of no use. I would have wished they could have done something that could have made our current experience better. The person in the group that did the reservation, still hasn't received the $50 voucher. However, it is forgivable...and if I am ever in the area again, I definitely would give this place a try again. read more

Really cool place. Went here on a date and we both really enjoyed it. The VR is realistic enough to trigger vertigo at times. One negative is that glasses can't be used here (have used them in VR elsewhere) but they do have prescription VR lenses that do a decent job. A major major plus is that they have great costumer service. I had accidentally bought tickets for the 14th instead of the 16th and they accomodated me with no trouble despite the fact that it eas a Saturday and I was clearly at fault. read more

Awesome experience! Came with group of 6, played Deadwood. First time there for half of us, other half was 2nd time there for Deadwood. Got some pointers from our teammates. Arrived, checked in quickly, waited in the back of the groundfloor lobby, and when ready took us downstairs to gear up. They had us pick a team name and everyone picked the color of their arm-hand sensors and picked a gamer name. Waited for 5 min then got taken to the room. Put our stuff in a bench that doubles as a box storage, and sent inside. Had hardware described to us as geared up with haptic vests and laptop backpacks, vr goggles and audio headsets. Had rules, safety info and weapons info described to us by staff and quickly starting a game. I never vr gamed before and it was a blast overall! Game went well as we beat it and the boss. Will be back, just not sure if we will go to SF again or go to the San Mateo location. read more

Look, we had fun-- regardless, but for about $50 a person, it really could have been better. While the tech is out of date, the experience was so much worst! None the less, being immersed was interesting, and the location decor itself (walking into the room, the sign in area, going downstairs...) was total vibes. The host could not give an ounce of enthusiasm. More importantly, my husband's unit kept malfunctioning most of the time throughout on onboarding and middle of the game. I was also handed a smudged headset that made it all blurry (until i asked them to clean it), and was equipped with a broken vest (the side that cinches down was broken, but the host said it didn't matter...) This company runs on giving people an experience-- and unfortunately it's was tepid at best. It's sad-- I think with more enthusiasm from the hosts, to functioning equipment (or updated!), this has a lot of potential. read more

My friend made a reservation for 6 of our friends and one person dropped out within 24 hours of the reservation. 5 people still willing and ready to go. For literally no extra cost to this place, they will not change your reservation to exclude one person. Instead of making this change this one time, and to gain some customer loyalty they would rather be rude and combative over the phone. read more

GO! You won't be disappointed! It was my first time doing anything VR, and decided to go with "Deadwood Mansion". This option might be a little scary for kids, but they have other kid-friendly stimulations to choose from. I don't want to spoil anything, but it was so realistic! My heart was pounding and I was sweating by the time it was over with. You get a free short video clip of your experience, which is fun to watch over and over again, and to share with friends and family. The staff was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. Amazing! The VR experience that we all dreamed about as kids has finally arrived. I will certainly be back many times.

Absolutely a must when it comes to virtual fun!!! My group was so impressed by the staff and overall experience. Soon as we entered we were warmly greeted and directed to sanitize our hands. In addition because of state mandate to show vaccination cards for those eligible. Which in my opinion is perfect because it's better safe than sorry I say. After getting all checked in we were directed downstairs where we were met by our game host. We actually had two guys helping us and making sure all our groups equipment was on correctly. Once the group entered the game arena we had a change in staffing and another young man came to host or game because the other host who got us started was getting off work. It was great because it felt like we got so much attention and allowed for our group to have time to get comfortable with all the equipment they needed to have on and carry. Once the game started thats when the real fun began. Our group choice Dead Wood Mansion... super creepy and realistic it was like you could feel the zombies approaching... it was so much fun and it definitely made for great laughs afterwards. Once the game was over we were directed upstairs to watch our groups game.. it was so cool to see us on the big screen playing... I would come here again and again just to try out each virtual game offered. This is a must do if you are ever in the city and want to get a group of friends together and have a great time full of fun and laughs. Definitely will be returning in the near future. I had my sons birthday here. The boys had a blast! It was the perfect amount of time to play a game together and totally blow their minds. I wished that they had party rooms and allowed food or other fun things. So we had Krispy Kreme donuts instead of cake since there was no table. Overall it was short and fun! read more

VR experience was really cool but only lasted 20-25 minutes, at $48 per person is overpriced. The Sandbox employee didn't make an effort to connect with my family; seemed to be in a rush to get us out of the place. He rushed through the orientation and I learned more from my boys than I did from him. I could've added another star if the employee had a better attitude. My kids would rather have gone to Dave and Busters which would've cost 1/2 as much and lasted 2x longer. read more
