Please save your time and money--do not come here. I specifically requested an experienced stylist for my appointment, but unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst salon experience I've ever had. I'm genuinely disappointed and cannot recommend this place to anyone. For reference, I requested a haircut and hair toner. I payed around $165. It was a ripoff. I blow dry my hair way better at home and the hair toner is nowhere to be seen in my hair. It looks like they didn't put anything on my hair. Hair cut was OK. The overall vibe from the stylist was very off, kind of crabby and I witnessed how she belittled younger stylist. I was so uncomfortable the entire time. read more

Very pleasant decor, Aveda concept salon. The stylist was very personable, and communicated well with me on my goals. Based on my experience over the past few months (at this location and another), I can't say I fully trust stylist bios that say they like working with curly hair. Both stylists were newer, and in both situations despite the fact I was clear on what I wanted, in addition to taking out the bulk, they also took a significant amount of hair off. Sanctuary charges a "wellness fee" for salon services, which I have mixed feeling about. read more

Can't say how the actual service was as I got there for my haircut about 5 mins before my service was to start and they told me it was cancelled because the stylist had called in sick-so not necessarily a last minute thing. I get in the days of COVID this is likely happening but why not call? Not sure why you wouldn't try and contact someone to let them know their appointment was cancelled? The receptionist did try and find another appointment for me but it wasn't successful. Pretty basic to call people if their appointment if cancelled if you ask me. This place is pretty tricky to find if you're a first-timer! My normal salon is being renovated and their stylists shared space here during construction. When I walked in, I was so confused by the racks and racks of clothes for sale at a beauty salon that I literally stopped. I stood there trying to find the salon buried in the draped jewelry and racks of pants, tops, dresses... I did find my stylist and the familiarity of an Aveda setup. I have naturally curly hair. I went to the Sancuary Salon in Tonka Bay for a color and cut. This is such a nice salon with nice people. Erin Lammers knew how to cut and color curly hair!! I am so happy with the way she started out knowing to cut my curly hair dry then color. Not a lot of people know how to deal with curly locks. Thank you Erin!!! I will differently be back! read more

I booked a pedicure appointment well in advance in anticipation of an upcoming trip to San Diego. After confirming my appointment two days ahead of time, the day of I got a call that they double booked my appointment and would have to cancel. They did not offer anything as consolation for their error other than to rebook in the future, which did not help as I was leaving on a trip the next day. I am extremely disappointed and will not book anything there in the future as there is no guarantee my appointment will be honored. read more

I had been going to Sanctuary Salon Spa for a couple of years for full foils and haircuts and then my stylist moved out of state. The salon booked me with a stylist saying she was good but she wasn't good at all. I was in the chair for over 4 hours and she missed several large areas leaving my hair looking very uneven. This appointment cost me $290. I made management aware of my concern and they booked me for a free redo with a different stylist whom they said was good...she wasn't good either. The foil colors were too light, leaving my hair uneven yet again. I booked another appointment at Sanctuary with a senior stylist hoping she would know what she was doing given her 20 years of experience. I relayed my previous issues with the other two stylists, told her what I was looking for and she seemed offended by my dissatisfaction with her coworkers. She proceeded to go to the color cabinet and appeared to be taking inventory while complaining about the lack of color mixes available. She was loudly tossing things around, her manager came over and they were discussing their inventory issues as I was sitting in the chair waiting for the stylist to begin my hair service. After an hour and 10 minutes of sitting in the chair, she finally started my hair. She didn't brush the color down close to my hairline which left regrowth of at least a half inch and more in several other spots immediately. She also didn't do several sections of my hair which left it uneven again. That 3rd appointment took over 5 hours and cost me $313 only to have my hair look terrible and with uneven highlights that are far too light I expressed my dissatisfaction with the Sanctuary Spa management. They refused to give me a refund and only offered a gift card for $75 for their store. I can't recommend this place in fact, if you want your hair to be done right, don't even bother going and trying this place. 3 stylist of varying experience levels, none of them brushed the highlight color even close to my hairline and nobody did a good job. I love sanctuary salon spa and typically go to the Eden prairie location. However, I have only ever gotten my hair done there. I have never gotten my nails done there. The manicure I received was so poor that I want to have it done again somewhere else. It is thick, clumpy, and is all over my cuticles. Would not recommend. Stick to just hair cuts here. read more

This was hands-down the worst spa I've been to. My friend bought the Groupon so all of us girls could enjoy a fun spa day together. Unfortunately, Sanctuary was unable to accommodate us and we had to split up our group into three. I ended up going by myself. While I waited for my massage in the spa, I sat and listened to a staff member talk with a gal about what she wanted done for her facial. I watched and listened to my massage therapist walk by me several times to get her room ready. The spa has hardwood floors and she had high heel boots on. LOUD! Definitely not what I would say was a relaxing time. The massage started late and ended early. My total massage time was 47 minutes. I paid for an hour massage. I asked for deep tissue and got a light massage. Typically, I go to Lifetime in Chanhassen for my massages. There is NO comparison! On to the Pedicure....Sanctuary is not set up for gel. I always get gel on my toenails. Guess what! They couldn't accommodate this either and it took forever to get my "old" gel off. When it was time to pick a color, the first 2 colors I asked for they were out of. After the third color pick, I finally scored! The bottom of my feet were never scrubbed. They were as dry/scaly leaving the place as they were going into the place. She never trimmed my cuticles. When she started applying the polish, I had to ask her if she needed to apply a base coat first. She replied, "Oh yeah...Sorry." I'm almost 6'0 tall. The chairs don't go all the way back because of a wall so I felt cramped and not relaxed. Onto the Manicure......I had to ask her to trim my cuticles during my manicure and then I had to ask to have my nails cleaned underneath. She applied lotion to my hands and never asked me to wash my hands. When the manicure was completed I asked where the dryers were. Reply..."We don't have them." What?? What nail salon doesn't have dryers? After getting home, the polish actually started peeling off in chucks. I lost polish on three fingers in less than 3 hours so I ended up taking off the rest of the polish. This whole spa experience was a waste of 3.5 hours for me. There is no comparison to Spalon Montage and Life Spa at Lifetime. The place was freezing and I could not get warm. The gal that did my massage, pedicure and manicure was very, very inexperienced. I wouldn't mind a refund!! I'll use it to buy Aveda hair products! read more

I've gotten my hair cut here probably 5-6 times now, each time with Kesenja. I have curly hair, so it's nice to have someone who knows how to handle it! She's an absolute sweetheart, and such a pleasure every time I go in. (I've never worked with anyone else there, but everyone there has always been SO polite at the counter, etc.) Wonderful experience every time; would definitely recommend to anyone. read more

I love Aveda and found a Groupon for Sanctuary Salonspa, so I decided to check it out. My first trip was great. I went to the Excelsior location, and Lori did a great job with my haircut. She made sure to iron out the details of how I wanted my hair cut before starting so there would be no surprises midway through, which was especially appreciated since I was trying a much shorter cut than I was used to. She was also happy to make adjustments as we went. Lori was very friendly, and I had a great time chatting with her as well. The rest of the staff was equally pleasant. All in all I am very happy with my new hairstyle, and I had an excellent experience at Sanctuary Salsonspa. read more

This is a beautiful salon, and the people who work there are super-nice. This is a comment on Sanctuary's overall advertising and pricing strategy. I had a salt and glow treatment there today and, while it was nice, I was disappointed that it was only a half-hour. I thought it was going to be an hour-long treatment, or I wouldn't have paid $75 for it. This should be clear on the Web site. It just wasn't the long, relaxing experience I thought I was paying for, and that is why I was disappointed. I guess it's all about setting the right expectations. read more
