On Saturday, I entered Sanctity Tattoo and was greeted by a soft-spoken guy. During the preceding couple of weeks, I'd been to a number of other tattoo parlors and none seemed to be "right" for me. Sanctity Tattoo's space was neat, clean, uncluttered and without flamboyance. I immediately felt that this was the place for me to get my tattoo. The guy, Ken, is the owner-operator of Sanctity. He was very pleasant and gave me a very reasonable estimate for my tattoo design. As I had errands to complete that afternoon, he scheduled me for the following Friday. I was able to complete my errands earlier than expected, so called Ken to see if he was available. He confirmed that he was free and could do the tattoo. His sanitary, antiseptic prepping of the workstation, apparatuses and materials was thorough and efficient. During the tattooing, Ken did not try to talk to me. (I'm not one who likes to talk with barbers, manicurists, etc. while in their chairs.) However, I'm certain that, if I wanted to talk, we could have had a pleasant conversation. There were several other tattooists who also went about their work attentively. His application of the tattoo was quite efficient; he completed the work much quicker than I expected. I enjoyed the process. Afterwards, he gave me advice on how to treat the tattoo for the next five days or so. (The covering and process have improved since my last tattoo, eight years ago.) On balance, I am delighted with the experience and with the tattoo. I highly recommend Sanctity Tattoo to anyone who wants a safe, clean process in getting a precise, reasonably priced tattoo. Before I came to Sanctity, I had been looking for a tattoo artist for years in both Western Washington and Tucson. And I'll be the first to admit that I was a bit apprehensive to go to a shop so close to the university. And to my surprise, when I came to Tucson, I had no idea that there would be as many tattoo shops as there are retirement communities. Many that I visited were sketchy. However, when I met Tracy at Sanctity I was instantly comfortable and pleased with how clean and professional the shop appeared. I really enjoy working with Tracy because we work together with designs--I give him a few ideas and he sends me a sketch. I have been lucky enough to have been led to some really good artist to do my work in Portland, OR. When I started looking to get tattooed here in Tucson I researched a ton of studios online. The best way to research is to look at the artist portfolio they have posted online. When I came to sanctity tattoos website the artwork seemed to be a step above the rest. I wanted a Japanese koi fish on my calf and that is what Jay specializes in. He knocked it out of the park and did very quick work. The staff all seem to do high quality work and they are professional and the shop is clean. You will notice on the walls several awards for tattooing. That speaks for itself. I have no tattoos, but I've been to Sanctity a number of times as my son had two quarter sleeves and chest pieces done by artist Jay Cavna. They are, in a word, stunning. Of course I was a little skeptical of an 18 year old picking out body art that he'll have all his life, but because of Jay's guidance, vision, and skill, my son has two amazing works of Japanese-style art on his body. Jay really spent time with my son to make sure that he got something meaningful. My son is stopped everywhere he goes by people who enjoy his tattoos. It's a shop for true aficionados-- not the place to get your Tweety Bird tat. It's obvious they're all passionate about their work and their aesthetic is sophisticated.
