We were very disappointed in the job that was done and happened to ask Tye at JKL flooring, what he could do about it. He sent Shaun Mahoney to our house to take care of it. He was very timely neat and very efficient. He dug out all the grout between our tiny tiles and acid wash the floor and re-grouted it. It looks absolutely marvelous. We are so happy with it. Before Clifford Thomas, I had another handyman before him and an inspector had failed Housing Quality Standards required by Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority. Clifford Thomas claims he knows inside and outside of the HQS requirements being enforced by the LMHA and I trusted him. Few days ago, I had been informed the work is now complete and brought in an inspector with LMHA and failed again. He claims to me that they don't make sense to him and is avoiding me. Based on recommendation from a source at LMHA to use the "company" that specializing in renovations and repairs meeting HQS standards. Clifford claims he knows about LMHA and has 40 years experience but he couldn't deliver his work, guarantees and with expectations to pass HQS inspection. He's not reliable, dishonest and he's refusing AT MY REQUEST to refund me the portion of the money I paid him. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Never ever!

We have video and photo evidence that shows complete damage to our property, even after they attempted to resolve an issue. The Flooring Company sent out a cleaning crew and painter to attempt to resolve some issue, which ultimately failed. There are numerous soft spots throughout the floors, confirmed by numerous contractors after installation. We aren't asking for perfection but a professional job after spending over $25,000 for flooring. Your business practices we have experienced has been deceptive and unprofessional. UPDATE: Owner sent me an email asking to remove my bad review or he will pursue legal action. Watch out! Deceitful! The photos reflect the condition of which The Flooring Company LLC left my property in after they completed the job. I had to complain and push to get a cleaning crew which was ineffective (I had to spend $400 to get a cleaning crew to come out after The Flooring Company LLC's cleaning crew "cleaned" the property). Additionally, The Flooring Company LLC hired a painter to patch the damage to my walls, which did a poor job. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional company. I'm looking forward to The Flooring Company LLC to post the final images and videos of their flooring at my property--which would be downright embarrassing for their company. When i inspected the work after they left for the day, I found 3 minor issues to be fixed. I took pictures of them and sent them to the saleslady, Malak. The workers came back the next day and repaired them to my satisfaction. I wanted to rearrange some of the furniture and the workers were happy to so. Then Nathan reached out and provided a quote that was slightly higher than the one I had chosen, but his estimate stood out for its professionalism and detailed breakdown -- including shoe molding removal and replacement of damaged boards. I decided to go with him, and I'm so glad I did. Nathan communicated promptly and understood exactly what we needed. He and his coworker Leeland clearly knew their craft and did a fantastic job. They paid close attention to every detail, working carefully around the corners, closets, and especially the badly worn kitchen area. BUYER BEWARE RUNYON'S FLOORING AND FURNITURE in MONROE, MI…read more I am proud to say that I grew up in Monroe County. I always urge people to work with small businesses especially when they are local. I have contemplated posting this for a long time, but if sharing helps prevent even 1 person from going through what I did then this post is worth it. It was a truly traumatizing and emotionally draining experience that we went through with Runyon's. This is what you should keep in mind if you choose to do business with them. 1. They were not approved vendors/installers of the product that they had on display. (Runyon's purchased it from another store when we specifically asked if they were approved). 2. They did not follow the manufacture's specifications or complete proper job site preparation. (Resulting in damaged flooring.) 3. They ignored our calls to them for help. (We had an inspection done to figure out the cause of damage). 4. They refused to honor their warranty. (Even after an NWFA inspection indicated they were at fault). 5. We tried to file an insurance claim on their business insurance. They did not carry the correct coverage for "their work." (I hope they corrected this). 6. The engineer report from the insurance company also indicated they were at fault. The claim was denied for lack of coverage. 7. Estimates to tear it out and fix the damage was twice as much as we initially paid. 8. They ignored us again, so we filed a credit card dispute to get our money back. 9. They called us names, screamed at us, told us to "shut up." 10. They called our work and personal phones numerous times. (Once the credit card took the money back from them for failure to resolve the damages). 11. Their threat/solution for us was to "come to rip the floor out and put it into their rental homes" but not to repair it or replace it. (Expecting to still be paid for this work). 12. You may have to take them to court. (Runyon's may threaten that this is your only option). 13. They will leave you with floors that look like the photos attached.... This is what we went through with them, in our new home, when I was pregnant. They didn't care about us until the money was taken back from them for failure to correct the issue. Once they did not have the money for their work, they took a very aggressive approach. I have photos, reports, and recordings to prove all the above statements, but I do not feel it is necessary to post currently. Some people may have had a good experience with them. Certain members of their staff are helpful/nice. The OWNERS were the people taking this approach. Overall, thinking about how they treated us and potentially other people in the future makes me sick. *Owner never paid the money owed from small claims court. Had to take additional action... still an ongoing and unresolved issue for nearly a year.
