I never write reviews, but this was the absolutely worst customer service ever. My husband and I went in for a suit for him to wear for my daughter's quinceañera. One of the salesmen, Seb or Sebastian began to work with us and in my 43 years of life, I have NEVER ran into a worst sales associate. This guy was so condescending with everything we said and at one point when I asked him to explain how the studs would go on a shirt, he said in a VERY CONDESCENDING TONE, "Do you need for me to slow down and repeat myself?" Not only that, but he did a backslap motion towards me and then went on to PUT HIS HANDS ON MY SHOULDERS to shake me up. Sebastian greeted us and spent time talking to us about our vision and the options we had. He is very knowledgeable and pointed us in the right direction - style wise and budget wise. I was a groomsmen for my cousin's wedding this past weekend, and the amount of things that were wrong with our San Marko experience is almost comical. -During the measuring process several weeks before the wedding, Nicholas was very rude and arrogant. When guys would tell them they preferred the jackets a bit shorter or more slim fitting, he would disagree and tell us we would look foolish. -While at the store on 2 occasions (one to get measured and once to pick up my tux) I saw a total of 5 different people come in complaining of being given the wrong items. -When I picked up my tux, the sleeves on my jacket were about 2 inches too short. -Grooms jacket was about 2 sizes too big, and sleeves way too short -Of the 14 groomsmen, they didnt have vests for 5 of us on Thursday as promised. They stated they had to order extra and they wouldn't be here til 3pm Friday. (If they knew they would be short vests, why not order in advance??) -Forgot the shirt studs and suspenders for the groom that he specifically requested. -Gave half of the groomsmen the wrong type of shoes. -One guy had a cigarette butt inside his jacket pocket -One guy had a split in the crotch of his pants when he picked them up -One guy had stains all over the exterior of the jacket. What pissed us off most of all, was the staff's brash attitude about all of these errors. Not once did they offer so much as a simple apology. They were rude, condescending, and seemed like we were asking for a favor for them to get the orders right. I would never ever recommend this place. read more

Our daughter recently got married. When my husband picked up his tux we noticed what looked like wax on the lapel. The clerk took it in the back & said it was taken care of. When we looked at it the next morning, the wax was gone but it left behind a burn hole. They did give us a new one (the next size which then had to be altered, another trip back there). Even though the end result was OK, there was no real apology. For the prices they charge & the fact that tuxedos are the only thing they do, I think they sould of gotten it right the first time. read more

We ordered tuxedos for a wedding from here. This place did not check anything before providing the tuxedos to each person. The groom was given a shirt that had blood stains on it. The father of the bride's bowtie was missing. The father of the groom was given the wrong pants that didn't even fit. They were able to resolve the issues but they shouldn't have happened in the first place. read more

Worst experience ever. I went to get fitted for a tuxedo for my cousins wedding and the guy I think his name was Nicholas wasnt helpfull whatsoever. He kept winking at me, wich i thought was a little strange. It looks like he didnt want to be there. He measured me and I came back to pick up my tux and the pants..... MC HAMMERS pants was less baggy than the one that he gave me. All of the groomsmen had issues with their tuxedos. I made an appointment to find a tuxedo for my wedding. The salesman asked me what I wanted so I responded I just wanted to try a few different options on to get an idea of what I liked. As I tried on each tux the salesman grew more and more frustrated with me and was just trying to get a quick sale. When I said I would come back with my fiancé to help me and now could my best man try a few things on he demanded a deposit. When I hesitated he said I was "wasting his time". He had no one else in the store but me. His job should be to help me find something that looks best on me for the most important day of my life. If you are anything like me, you always prefer to spend your hard earned dollars right in your own neighborhood in order to support the sustained and continued viability/success of family owned businesses and/or establishments. Granted, that we need and require certain staples such as our morning Java, gasoline, milk, etc. at a much higher frequency and patronize our local bodega, gas station or convenience store more than just once per week. However, this does not constitute that any personalization or familiarity shall ever be a given. When it comes to dine in or take out eating establishments (i.e including bars or other integrally combined/social venues); our patronage far more than likely becomes a weekly ritual, most especially when you are lavished with personalized and preferential services, treatment and most paramount of all; an unrivaled and consistently superior quality product and tandem experience. I am not sure about anyone else, but when you are treated and greeted almost like a family member that hasn't been around after sometimes nearly a year or two; it kind of blows you away. Moreover, when they initially give you a "family discount" off the bottom line right off the bat, despite of the infrequency or necessitation of your patronage; you quite literally require to pinch yourself to rule out being engaged in a deep. R.E.M. dreaming state. I am referring specifically here to formal wear; i.e. suits, ties, tails and tuxedos. The only place that I shall ever personally frequent let alone and without any trepidation whatsoever PERSONALLY RECOMMEND to others is San Marko Formals of Yonkers, NY. Specifally, Mr. Robert Forghetti & family shall provide a total experience and make you look so good; you won't be ever be able quite too quickly to "Forghetti about it". Ha ha. That old gag. I hope that rekindling that most assured old Schtick doesn't give cause to Robert for sending me an outstanding invoice for my totally rocking and more than just perfect matching shade/pattern of green necktie and handkerchief for an Irish wedding. Nearly everyone that I engaged in conversation with back on 9-12-14 when my eldest niece married Billy Green (oh the absolute and utter irony to her newly adopted last name), but then on either Monday or Tuesday, Robert even upped that already equitable ante upon my return of their rental items; with a far more benevolent gesture, to wit; "Ya know, I think that matching and tie and handkerchief ensemble is just so you, I want you just keep them. The newlyweds from 2014 are now expecting their first born, and my second eldest nephew and his wife just brought their second child, a boy, into the world at 2:00 pm just this afternoon. So, I see a requisite need on the not too distant horizon for a myriad of engagements with San Marko and the Forghetti family. I felt not only obliged, but perhaps even a tad bit guilty for not Yelping about my fantastic experience. It wasn't just that solitary event that readily comes to mind, as I have used their services at least four times in the last 5 years. In fact, for two out of them four once in a lifetime events; I seriously contend that I had more gratifying and enjoyable experience getting expertly tailored and fitted for my formal wear than as was had at the ultimate event that I had attended. LOL. The Forghetti's are most ironically even far more kinder to your wallet, than the expectations of the DONATION that your expected to give at the event you are ultimately going to attend. PS. Be absolutely sure to ask for Robert, and tell him that Kevin sent you. Christian fitted my son for his first tuxedo and did a great job. We went in for a fitting less than two weeks before the event and picked up the tuxedo a week later. Christian could not have been more patient or good-humored, and he suggested the perfect accoutrements from socks to bow-tie. We even took his advice to rent the formal shoes, which were elegant and comfortable for a night of dancing. Brand new those shoes would have been a couple of hundred dollars and worn maybe once or twice by a growing teen. The rental price for the tuxedo was fair and worth every penny for an evening of special memories. read more

San Marko wasn't my first option when I was looking for a suit for my groomsmen but when I first met the owner Roberto I received a really good feeling like he was family. He automatically left a great comfortable first impression. I knew this would be a great option for my guys. Roberto said that my tux was free for the rental but I explained to him that I was going to the city to get a Bespoke suit to be made for me. He explained that they make made to measure suits as well. I will not lie as I was a little skeptical since I never heard of the work none the less the feeling that Roberto gave off and the guarantee of craftsmanship was to good to pass up. Its been 3 months since we agreed on the service and today was the day of the last fitting. I have to say that my made to measure suit came out fantastic. The true feeling of a custom suit and comfort. I recommend this place to anybody and everybody. I will follow up next week for the rental suits but today I had to leave this positive review due to the great service and happy feeling that Roberto left on me. I have been in 4 weddings that used San Marko and then I used them for my own wedding. Every time was a great experience. Fitting process is quick and easy... Tuxedo always fits perfect, never a problem. For my wedding they worked with my wife and I to rent the perfect designer tuxedos, not the typical "costume" feel rental... I wore a Ralph Lauren black w black pin stripe and groomsmen Calvin Klein w black vest and ties. Amazing tuxedos!! Everyone's fit perfect, and my groomsmen kept saying these are tuxes they would buy to own. Even looked great and comfortable when we rode our motorcycles 2 Miles to the ceremony!! You would never think they were rentals. Rob at San Marko also helped pick out gifts for groomsmen, cufflinks & nice ties they got to keep. Every step of the process was easy and smooth w no issues and the price was not that different than your men's warehouse cookie cutter style rentals. I rented my son's tux from san Marko back in 2009 and it was such a good looking tux and fit so well that I bought it for him. Unfortunately, in Summer 2012 he left the jacket in a club, but I went back to San Marko's and bought him another one for his birthday and it looks great on him. I dealt with "John" and the experience was all positive. We even went to eat next door in their restaurant and when John found out we were going to eat there, he personally walked us over to introduce us to his brother who personally sat us. Great experience! Just as I was referred I will also refer friends to San Marko. I was looking for a suit for my teenage son, I was very disappointed with the lack of knowledge and customer support when shopping at other places (spoiled by Syms). It was suggested that I try San Marko. Bob Forchetti (GM unbeknown to me) was gracious, friendly and knowledgable. He whipped out his handy measuring tape and began to explain a size that I had never heard of that fit my son perfectly. Even though I expressed concern about buying a one wear suit for a growing boy, Bob gave me time - no pressure to think about it. While we decided to go a bit less formal for the event Bob understood wished us well and said he hoped to see us again....he will. My husband and I can not say enough great things about San Marko. We went in two weeks before our wedding and needed two custom tuxes made and 10 rentals and without a moment of hesitation they took care of us until the very end. The majority of our rentals were for family members who live out of the country and were only coming in the day before the wedding. They helped us translate the sizes and set up a time to do fittings totally based around their schedule and turned around the alterations the same day. The custom tuxedos that were made for my husband and father in law looked absolutely spectacular and fit them both perfectly. Their customer service went so far above and beyond that when there was an issue with a pair of rental pants for one of our ring bearers on the day of our wedding, Geno drove out to our wedding location and brought a new pair of pants- so above and beyond. There is no question that we will go to them for all of our future needs.
