This was one of my favorite breakfast spots when I lived in CC and after going back last weekend, it's nice to see they are better than ever! The tortillas here are simply the best. Both flour and corn tortillas are made by hand. The flour tortillas huge and thick and fluffy and delicious. The corn tortillas are also pretty big and thick and some of the best I've had. Tacos here are cheap. $1.25 to $2.25 depending on what you get. On top of that, they're huge! The carne guisada is fantastic here. Tender meat and thick gravy. The barbacoa is great too, well seasoned meat. Eggs are hard to screw up and I've never had a problem here. This place is packed on weekends. Be prepared to wait and know that it's worth it!

Great food although it did take a while to come out but it came piping hot. No chips served. Tons of coffee refills. Both flour/corn Tortillas are homemade daily

Large breakfast tacos, big portions, $ friendly. The only negative thing to say is that the bathrooms are pretty dirty. We will be back.

As a vegan, that made me excited because actual Mexican food usually has less cheese and can be made vegan. The business is quaint. There was a friendly hostess to welcome us in and our server was very hospitable. We ordered the chile relleno without cheese, zucchini in pasilla pepper sauce, and mole verde off the vegetarian options on the menu. We also enjoyed guacamole and chips. Our server was happy to accommodate our vegan modifications and it was really easy to communicate with him. The flavors are just WOW! Hands down the best guacamole of my life. The sauces are vibrant and rich. Everything tasted so fresh. And the prices for this quality of food cannot be beat. My husband and I literally licked sauce off the plates to make sure we did not miss one ounce of that authentic Mexican flavor. This place is top of our list of businesses to visit next time we are in town visiting family. We had an incredible experience and cannot wait to continue to explore the vegetarian menu options.

I'm not a professional food critic, but I do know seasoning, regional Mexican flavors, and what well‑prepared food should taste like -- and this just wasn't it for us. The restaurant didn't feel well-kept, and it appeared that only one server and one cook were working, plus we and another couple were the only ones there. We were served chips and salsa to start. The salsa, a taquera‑style orange sauce, was actually the best part of the meal. The chips, however, were extremely hard, not fresh, and definitely not warm. They looked house‑made, but whatever they were fried in made them almost inedible. I ordered the ribeye street tacos, and the steak was overcooked, had an odd taste, and wasn't enjoyable. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which didn't happen, and the chimichurri they brought out was basically oil with a few seasonings floating in it. I almost complimented the Dr Pepper because it had a unique sweetness -- until I realized why. The red glass had visible staining on the inside. When I wiped the rim with my napkin, it came off dirty. They also don't offer straws, so whatever residue was in that glass is what you end up drinking. Between the food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the overall condition of the restaurant, this was a no for us. How this place has earned such high mentions is honestly beyond me.

The most authentic flavor item in my lunch was the refried beans that look like poop at first sight. Rice was bland with cumin flavor and the mole was the most disappointing. Might as well have called them regular enchiladas, the flavor was basic taco mix with a tiny taste of mole. Just a thick cumin or comino paste. Enchiladas should be dripping with sauce in the inside. These were dry tortillas that were barely garnished with sauce on top. The chicken inside was very flavorul but dry. Then the 16 oz lemonade was 4$ and it was super sour ! I never leave reviews. But this was truly disappointing.

The corn, the bacon wrapped jalapeños and the nachos with tinga chicken. The corn had something bitter in it I chalked it up to the lime, little to much but I'm sure can be ordered without. The bacon wrapped jalapeños were perfectly made and zero fire which I appreciate. The nachos were huge half corn tortillas with refried black beans and cheese when I added the chicken I didn't realize it would add 14 dollars to my nachos!! lol I honestly thought it made the nachos 14 dollars. The sweet tea is soooooo good So I said maybe based on my $59.00 lunch bill.

It went downhill somewhat when the son took over and now that a new owner has taken over it has gone down again. The portions are much smaller especially the cheese in the enchiladas. They are half the size they were before which I don't understand because the cost of the ingredients isn't that much. We ate there yesterday for lunch and the service was sub par, food was luke warm and I heard the buss boy curse when meeting one of his friends. Very unsetteling since I was with my teenage neice. Naturally, I had to check it out--and let me tell you, this place absolutely lives up to the hype. I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner, and every bite was incredible. The seasoning on the rice, fish, and shrimp was spot-on, and the tortillas had that perfect, slightly charred finish that takes everything up a notch. Even the drink portions were generous--huge cups, which I appreciated. Service was friendly, the prices were very reasonable, and the overall experience was exactly what I was hoping for. I'm 100% coming back. Without a doubt, this is the best Mexican spot in Corpus Christi. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, delicious meal, with a family friendly ambience.
