We hired San Francisco deli for catering my wedding. As some people know sometimes the wedding doesn't go as planned and our translator was late so we were a bit delayed getting our wedding started and in turn we going to be late picking it up. I was able to call John and he took care of us and brought the food out to us. The Tri tip was delicious and Cooked to perfection. The chicken fell off the bone and was super moist. This definitely is a place my coworkers and I frequent a lot for lunch on Saturdays. We've slowly stopped going due to the quality over the last so many months. Don't get me wrong, when made right; this place hands down has the best sandwiches. But we've noticed on Saturdays when we order our lunch we're missing items on our sandwiches and just missing condiments as they should be on a sandwich. The cost has gone up slightly, which is understandable but that should sacrifice the quality of the sandwich. We truly do enjoy the food there guys but it may come to an end as there's no consistency. Hope this helps for improvement. Delicious deli with hometown flair. The Dutch crunch bread is a must try if you are new to this deli. Meats and cheeses are fresh. They do catering and I suggest placing your order prior to coming in or come in on off peak hours. At times there may be a line so pack your patience. Tinted windows which helps with the triple digit heat in Redding. Establishment is clean and lots of TVs around with SF Giants swag. There is a $2 off if you check in on your Yelp app! One of the first places I got lunch when I started working in Redding in 2006. SF Deli has been run by the same family for longer than I have been going there. Wednesdays and Fridays they barbeque tri tips onsite, and their sourdough rolls provide a great start to any sandwich on the menu. I'm most likely to head over on Fridays for a tri-tip, but will default to their French Dip on an off-day. SF Deli does a great job with balance. Not too much bread, not too much or too little meat, cheese, veggies etc. I really feel that balance is where some restaurants and home cooks get it right, and wrong. read more

I've been familiar with this deli for years, as it's a favorite spot for my mother and her friends to go. But I'm not crazy about sandwiches and hadn't eaten there till yesterday. I ordered a roast beef on Dutch crunch, to share with my mother. That, with cheese and two bags of chips came to just under $20. Our friend ordered the same, her order came quickly while ours was slow. But two staff members checked with us and let me know the bread was coming out of the oven. That's how fresh the bread is! When it came, I was blown away by how large the sandwich was. The roll was huge, and it was stacked with so much roast beef that I couldn't eat the whole thing! The pickle and peppers were pleasantly sharp and I loved the creamy mustard on the bread. While the restaurant was packed at the time we went in, it wasn't overwhelming. There are banks of windows, which make it feel more spacious. We stayed quite a long time, but never felt pressured to leave. My only disappointment was that they'd run out of the BBQ beef, which was the day's special. Guess that means I need to go back! read more

We love San Francisco Deli! The sandwiches are amazing as well as the sides. The food is undeniably great. My review has to do with the customer service. I placed an online order and was excited to see that they deliver to our address. We live on the outskirts of Anderson so you can understand my excitement that a business delivers out here. I was expecting a larger delivery fee because we are usually out of the typical delivery zone but upon checkout it did not specify that we would need to pay extra. Our delivery time came and went without our food so I figured that they had mistakenly accepted our order not realizing they did not deliver to our address. I called the business and they said they thought it was a pick up but would correct it and the order would be on its way. Again, I was very excited that they were willing to deliver to us but that excitement was quickly squashed once our order did eventually arrive Our order was delivered by the owner who got out of her car stating, "I'm so flattered you love our food but this is pretty out here for a delivery. Just so you know the next time you order it will include at least a $20 delivery fee." Like I said earlier, I was expecting a larger delivery fee but it was not made known on the online ordering service. I felt embarrassed and that I was an inconvenience to the owner. For the record, we live close to hawes farm in Anderson which is not that far out of town. In closing, I wish the business would have been upfront about their preferred distance for deliveries and clearly stating their boundaries. I paid $50 for 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips and a side of pasta salad plus a 20% tip. Making me feel like an inconvenience was completely out of line on the businesses part. Sandwiches are amazing but please don't make your customers feel awful. read more

Took my family here for lunch on a Friday and I was surprised there was not a huge line. The lady working the register clearly hated her job and couldn't have been any less pleasant. Zero eye contact and made faces like we were literally inconveniencing her. After we order we sat entertained by her rudeness and eye rolling any other customers. The called is for our order and when delivered one of our sandwiches was missing. Big surprise Mrs attitude made a mistake. This has always been my favorite place to eat when in Redding...I live about 100 miles away and always come here when I'm close. Today I was within about 30 miles so I made the trip over here to eat. I was pretty disappointed to say the least. Staff was polite but all but one of them were high school age and were preoccupied with visiting with their friends. There was only one other group of 3 people here and they were already eating but it still took about 20 minutes to get my sandwich (I was by myself) and besides that the place was empty . The bread on my sandwich (wheat roll) was rock hard like it had been out in the wind for a few days and literally destroyed the roof of my mouth to eat it. I wasn't going to risk another 20 minute wait to ask for new bread...I didn't have time to wait. I commend the 1 older lady employee...she was literally the only one doing anything the entire time I was here. I will be back and I hope it's back to normal next time or unfortunately that will be my last time. I know these guys can do better. We moved to Redding in 2014 and discovered the place very fast. We love their sandwiches. However, a couple of years ago we went to get food and asked to add a pickle that was in a container at the order counter. The clerk reached with his bare fingers into the jar and put that pickle in my bag. At that point, I also observed that none of the staff preparing the food wore those plastic gloves other places actually wear. That is why I only give 2 stars.
