When it comes to purchasing an ebike in San Diego your options can be overwhelming! After visiting three San Diego shops specializing in ebikes I wasn't convinced I had found a perfect match for my needs. A friend of mine that purchased an ebike several years ago suggested I go to Fly Rides. I happened to be in the Poway area and thought I would drop by and see what all the hype was about. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by an employee that actually listened closely to my wishlist and directed me to try out three bikes in my price point. No upselling to try a bike out of my range. I appreciate that. Signed a waiver, donned a helmet and off I went for a test run on each of the suggested bikes. Easy! I had an idea of what type of riding I would be doing and how much I could afford. The great sales team were super knowledgeable about all the bikes I tried and I felt confident in my purchase of the Gazelle. Big thanks to the Fly Ride sales team! Now off for another ride. read more

Noah and his team are great. Highly recommend. If you're bike shopping or looking for service from professionals, you must visit this shop.

Not a fan. Our bike company offer to use these guys as a local repair shop under warranty. They were terrible. Never answer their phones. Never have anything good to say. After 10 days, I reached out and finally got a hold of somebody. Still hadn't started on my bike. Picked it up that day and took it somewhere else. They fixed it the same day. Definitely do not recommend this place. read more

My wife and I came in looking for an e-bike and we got superb service! They carry a bunch of different types of bikes for different needs and you can try out and rent mountain bikes. They have a legitimate trail in the back where you can try out the newest and latest tech. Noah and Caleb are super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable and patient. They teach you everything you need to know about bikes and give you great insights if you're between choices! read more

Update May 2024: e-MTB has literally changed my life!! I started this journey at age 47, weighing 295#, XXXL shirt, and 44" waist. Now, close to age 52, 185# M/L shirt, and 34" waist. Excellent support from the whole Fly Rides team through my whole journey!!! 1) Paired me up with the perfect bike and accessories for the type of riding I wanted to do. 2) Great service, tune-ups, upgrades and whatever I've needed to keep me riding over the years. (Even suggested bringing my bike in on Thursday, so I could pick it up by EOD Friday and would have it to ride for the weekend!!). 3) Stay connected! Trail and Riding information provided with pro-tips on how to get the most of the ride! I bought a second e-MTB for my wife so now she can ride with me sometimes too! Always stoked about riding and the freedom to ride! Love my new life!! read more

Shopping e-bikes while Asian! I went to this place twice, the first time i got ignored even i was there first before a white gentleman came in. Nobody even said hi to me. i told myself, maybe they were just busy ( even though i saw a couple of employees drinking coffee and sitting down) so me and my son went there again..and they were several of them working attending 2 customers and again we got completely ignored !!! i don't recommend this place if you are not Caucasian (white people ) !!! for service 0 !! bicycles are awesome though ! a little bit pricey but i was willing to dig into my savings if they only are not arrogant and racist ! read more

Went to these guys for my first emtb purchase and definitely recommend them. If you are in the market hit these guys up and ask for Will.

Trey and Austin were awesome! Trey did a great job handling the entire sale process. Trey and I went over a couple of EMTB and we settle on a Bulls. He got a great attitude and was very patient. I am a total newbie when it comes to any MTB let alone EMTB, in fact, this my first time buying a bike of my own! Trey went over the pros and cons of their bikes, explained it in a way I can understand. Did a great job following-up with me after our initial phone call. He was able to ship the bike to their LA location, saved me the 2 hours drive! When I took delivery of the bike, Austin explained all the features, tune the shocks to my body weight, and made sure the bike was the right size for me. Super friendly and very upbeat personality! Overall this was a great experience and they earned a customer for life! read more

We bought three bikes a few weeks ago from this shop and mine had a little shipping damage to a front brake part- no big deal and they stayed on top of it, repaired it, installed tubuless system for me and we very helpful in helping us decide which bikes might suit my wife and son the best. Everything about dealing with them is straightforward. Nice group of people and you can test ride a variety of bikes right there at their off-road test site to see what you like best. 10/10 will be back and very happy with their service. Walked over in La Jolla cove to the office to see about the tours. These guys are super real and super friendly. When we came in, we were offered water and snack -- and a lot of information about the tours and bikes. We ended up choosing the Torrey Pines electric bike tour with Peter. Peter is this super hip Agassi clone whose joy of living is infectious and his broad knowledge of horticulture is helpful in understand the region. It was a breath of fresh air (literally) to go on this tour versus a normal city bike tour and see the vast views, including the glider port near Torrey Pines shores, UCSD, the Salk Institute. I do sort of feel terrible about using these advanced e-bikes and passing the natives on the steep hills. But the experience is great, the tour guides are really helpful, and the equipment is all clean and high functioning. Practical items: tours come with water bottles and snacks. There are small lockers available in the tour shop. There is also a mostly finished bathroom in the back too. Peter, bro, if you're reading this, thanks for the tequila shot! Keep it real! read more

Great shop, killer crew! Hit up Fly Rides. They add froth - free of charge. Smile ear to ear. More than happy to explain everything and dial you in just right! Made the gut wrenching purchase of an e-bike worth while. Testing on real terrain, before purchase? Unbelievable!!! Big thanks Fly Ride team (Will). Can't wait to take this Mondraker through the paces. Oh, by the way, do you also sell life insurance? :) Thanks, All! read more

I am glad places like this exist. Trey was very helpful in teaching us about electric bikes. We knew very little about them, so the benefit of a place like Fly Rides is you can see and test ride various brands and learn the pros and cons of each from their knowledgeable staff. With each rider having varying preferences and needs, it's nice to see the selection vs being sold on one specific brand from a one-brand dealer. Check this place out before you decide on your ride! read more

It takes a little time to find this place, tucked into the back corner of a business park, but well worth the search. A great selection of e-mtbs and other e-bikes ready to ride with a worthy trail test network out back. Noah talked me through options and set me straight on a few misconceptions. I sell bike online professionally, and it is a constant learning process. Always good to talk to an honest specialist of Noah's caliber, man knows his stuff and is as cool as they come. Already liked these folks from their web presence and phone calls, they are even better in person. Thank you for the Mondraker test ride, very nice bikes indeed. read more

So two friends purchased a total of 3 bikes, and now it was my time. From the first conversation with Will, to departing the new showroom in Poway, it was a fun, low key, absolutely stress free time. When you fork out big bucks for an awesome ebike, there sometimes can be buyers remorse. Definitely not in my case! My inaugural ride was amazing and I'm looking forward to a few jumps (and crashes) along the way! Thanks guys ... I appreciate you!! read more

Couldn't be happier with my ebike purchase from Flyrides. Max worked with me, and helped me get into a bike that looks and rides awesome. Once I got the bike it was easy to put together, however putting stuff together is not my strong suit. I called Max who took my call and helped explain some basics. He then had a coworker Hector FaceTime me and that was the trick. These guys care about your experience and it shows. Thanks a ton guys!!! read more

He knew a lot of facts about the area and has such a passion for what he does. We really enjoyed his personality & wish him all the best and ALOHA! STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS! Extremely disappointed with this company's stance on returning deposits and general customer service/compassion. Placed a deposit on a certain bike and when it was already submitted, found that it was non-refundable. They claimed that it was "cost" for setting up the bike (tubeless, sizing, etc.). However, they had informed me that they had a bike that was already set up and I had to just do a sizing/fit. To add, I made the request for a refund of deposit prior to going in for a fitting. I then requested a transfer of the deposit onto another bike, which they had listed online as being in-stock. Come to find out, they informed me that it was not in-stock, regardless of their false advertising, refused to order that particular bike for me, and instead tried moving me onto what I felt was an inferior bike model with lower specs (probably to unload unwanted stock onto an unfortunate unknowing customer). Get real man! In another attempt to try and work with this shop, I asked if I could use the deposit money towards purchasing bike accessories sold at the shop. Once again, they said no to that request. In this day and age of suffocating costs/expenses, they were unwilling to refund my deposit, work with me on getting the bike I truly wanted, or work out a deal for me to get something in return for my hard-earned money. Their only consolation was that they said they would hold the deposit to the end of the year, for me to use on another bike purchase at their store. However, they would not work with me to get the bike I truly wanted, even though it was advertised on their website. Time after time, I was met with unsympathetic responses. STAY AWAY from these guys. Once they have your money, customer service goes out the door. read more

Great place! They really know their bikes. They even have a trail you can test ride on right behind the shop.

FLY RIDES ROCKS! Will in sales was fantastic with his depth of knowledge about all the different types and styles of e-bikes they sell. Fly Rides offers test rides for all the brands they carry which allows you to determine which bikes you like the most and then boil it down to your final selection, all with the expertise and help from somebody that really knows and understands e-bikes. And now that I've owned the bike for a while, I took the bike in for service work, and Cameron was equally as impressive with his vast knowledge and technical expertise. Cameron tweaked a few things and viola', my bike was better than new! If you're in the market for an e-bike (and you should be because they put the F in Fun!) or should I say they are F N Fun!! ha... Good job Fly Rides and thanks for the great experience. read more

I went there because of all the good reviews, it turns out that these guys there only care about the bikes that they sell. I don't think that they have the expertise to fix an electric bike. I only had a problem adjusting the display. They can't handle that. I'm sorry but I won't go back there for anything. read more

Will at the Poway location takes the time to fit your new bike with your riding style/needs. They have actual mountain bike trails behind the shop and allow you to test ride bikes in real trail conditions, not just around a parking lot. Great prices, great service, very knowledgeable staff! You can make an online appointment for test rides. Ask for Will, you will not be disappointed. He makes sure you get the right bike for you. read more

This is a business that is run right. Every detail is thought out, water, snacks, helmets, bags for the bikes and amazing tour guides and staff. All 7 of us did the 2 1/2 hour tour that includes Mount Soledad and every one of all enjoyed it. Justin was wonderful, he is obviously an excellent biker and very informed about the area. His stories kept us entertained. After many years of biking it is going to be hard to go back to a regular bike after enjoying going up a 15% grade at 17 miles an hour on an electric without much effort. read more

BUY YOUR E-BIKE HERE! Once you go on a ride on an e-bike you will WANT ONE for sure! We took a tour in Arizona and decided on the type we wanted and called Fly Rides and they were awesome! Max answered all our questions, was so helpful in giving us information and helping us make an informed decision. SO, we bought our two e-bikes from Max and they were sent to Arizona, and off we went! They were delivered to a local bike shop and now we are riding around Arizona....they are awesome. We never thought we would love them so much but I can tell you that after my husband having motorcycles, dirt bikes, rode bikes, etc...that these e-bikes are just perfect and we love them. The bikes take us up any hill there is...it is amazing and you can still get as much a work out as you want. Highly recommend Max and San Diego Fly Rides! read more

What an awesome experience from top to bottom. My boyfriend and I are in town for his work conference and we decided to rent bikes to explore as much as we could. Scotty helped us out and he was great. Super nice guy, laid back, and very helpful/informative. The bikes were great, and they provide you with snacks and water bottles to keep you fueled for your trip. We were in La Jolla for a business trip and only had a few hours to see the town. After a quick look on-line we signed up with Fly Rides. We were SO happy we did-- it's the BEST way to explore the city! Our guide, Peter, was fantastic!! Born and raised in La Jolla, Peter's love of his town came through in the tour. Peter's knowledge and all the beautiful stops throughout the ride made the 2 hours whiz by. If you're intimidated by the thought of riding a bike, don't be. I'm not a strong cyclist but Peter's patience and instruction made riding a breeze. Peter, thanks so much for an awesome afternoon!! read more

What a great day! We took the 2.5 hr e-bike "California Riviera" tour. So many amazing stops and sights, and the bikes were really really comfortable and easy. Can't say enough good things about Noah and Max at Fly rides. They're not just another bike shop. Sure they sell bikes, But these guys genuinely care about their customers and want you to have the best possible experience. I bought my Yamaha from FlyRides about a month ago and have been cautious and nervous about venturing out on my own. Will and Noah led us on a ride on the trails around the shop this past Saturday. When there were choices about a more technical route versus a less challenging option we stopped and they explained the choices. There was no pressure, and when I opted for the less technical option Will took the rest of the group and Noah stayed with me. Their coaching helped me gain confidence and other than that first decision I hung with the larger group and had a great ride. I look forward to riding with the FlyRides team again, it was a blast! read more

Justin and his team were outstanding! We had a mix-up with the time of our tour and the guys gave us great suggestions on how to spend our morning in La Jolla. When we returned in the afternoon for our ride with Justin, our guide, we had a wonderful experience seeing some of the most beautiful parts of La Jolla. Justin took the time to ensure we felt safe and comfortable on our bikes and took great care of us throughout the ride. I am an inexperience rider and Justin made sure I knew everything I needed to so I could not just complete the ride safely, but enjoy my time on the bike. He also had great stories and anecdotes to really connect the landscape to our trip. There are special surprises along the ride and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to La Jolla. This is a wonderful way to see La Jolla and I highly recommend doing a bike tour with Fly Rides no matter your experience or fitness level. The e-bikes really take away the nerves and anxiety for those of us new to bike riding but also still provide a challenge for anyone looking to overcome those Southern California hills. read more

I was a competitive tennis player until it dawned on me several months that my body can no longer take the cement court's assault on my joints and limbs. This epiphany has spawned a mid-life crisis, and I've recently been spending my days hiding in my basement closet, folded in a fetal position, while sucking by right thumb to soothe myself. But I digress. And regress...into the mental and emotional state of a helpless infant. Today has brought me hope, though! I decided to unlock the doors of my basement closet, climb into my car, and head on over to San Diego Fly Rides to buy a bike in the hopes that I can find a new way to stay in relatively good shape without the crippling side effects that come with playing tennis in middle age. San Diego Fly Rides is an awesome place to purchase a bike! I had no idea how much more technologically advanced bikes are today compared to the orange Schwinn bike that I owned back in the 80's! In addition to having awesome bikes to purchase, I was totally impressed with the guys that work at Fly Rides. Jake, in particular, is an awesome guy; he's just a really cool guy with a playful gleam in his eye and a genuine wish to hook me up with an amazing new bike in the hope that I'll fall in love with my new sport. Jake was also quick to hook me up with discounts on an assortment of items to make my bike purchase more affordable. My experience purchasing a bike today at San Diego Fly Rides was memorably effortless. It was also great for my mental health. I find myself walking taller and feeling more hopeful about my future. I no longer feel like a helpless baby in search of my right thumb to suck on! Thank you, San Diego Bike Riders. Thank you, Jake! You guys hooked this brother up! read more
