An amazing team to work with and even better projects to show for it. We absolutely love our new stairs!

Ed and his team did an excellent job with our stairs and I would highly recommend them. Ed came out to take measurements and gave great suggestions on some of the problem areas. Walter did the majority of the stair installation and I kind of missed him after the stairs wrapped up. He had an excellent eye for details and would consult me if something didn't look quite right to make sure it would come out as I expected. Impressed with the overall craftsmanship and quality they put out. The project ran a little longer than expected, but no complaints from me because I'd rather them do a good job than a rushed job. read more

I spent a significant amount of time with San Clemente Woodworking settling on the design details and price for our staircase remodel, and I was encouraged by their apparent expertise, flexibility, and capabilities. But then came the payment schedule, where they were requiring 40% of the job to be paid up front, which is not permitted in California. I requested a payment schedule with the maximum allowed up front cost of $1000, and they sent another schedule. This one had the $1000 up front cost, but still wanted 40% of the job paid prior to ordering materials, which is also not permitted in California. So I sent them a proposed payment schedule which was aligned with California requirements and was similar to other quotes I had received. The curt response of "I'm not interested in someone creating a payment schedule" and "Please find someone else" was quite a surprise. Now I'm not sure whether they know they are in violation of California contractor law or if they just don't care, but they definitely have no intention of following it. Either way, I suggest taking their advice and finding someone else for your job, as I did. While I could thoroughly discredit the business owner's false excuse below by posting their actual texts, I won't spend any more of my time on them. I just feel very glad to have dodged this bullet. Let the buyer beware. read more

We're so happy we selected San Clemente Woodworking to create a beautiful new staircase for our home! Ed and his team were great to work with - friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Ed spent a lot of time helping us select the look and materials. He had great suggestions and advice and designed special newel posts to accommodate our vision. We felt we got great value compared to other quotes we received. My husband and I both work from home and the craftsmen who were in our home were top notch - polite, professional, and accommodating. It was amazing to watch the process and see the care and craftmanship that went into every step. Jenna went above and beyond with respect to permitting to ensure the project started on time. The new staircase really transforms the whole look of the house. We highly recommend Ed and his team. read more

San Clemente Woodworking did an amazing transformation with our staircase. Although we already had our flooring installed, we were able to give our vision and they came up with the simple, clean line design for the stair railing. We worked with Ed to get the estimate, and then Nick completed the installation. We were on a tight timeline and they went above and beyond to complete the work. Friendly, timely, clean. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. read more

We were having new LVP flooring and carpet installed in our home just 3 weeks ago, but we needed to find a company to redo our stairwell. When a huge job like this begins, one must consider the "order" of how projects are started and finished. The stairs had to be done first, because sanding of wood produces lots of dust. So the decision was made to call San Clemente Woodworking, all 5 star reviews on YELP. There wasn't anything wrong with our old staircase and spindles, other than they were "stuck in the 80's" and needed a refresh. Also, our home is a Spanish Mediterranean style of house, and wrought iron spindles is what it needed to look "right." We were referred to San Clemente Woodworking and Ed and Jake came right away to see our existing stairs. Ed was a treasure-trove of information and he was able to educate us on staircases. There is a lot to know about how a proper staircase needs to be built and how using natural wood is paramount if you want the staircase and railings to last a lifetime. We picked out a beautiful assortment of 3 wrought iron spindles, and we took extra time and effort to arrange them specifically in an artistic arrangement to make the most of their artful appearances. Pedro came first to remove the old, dark oak stain from the wood, then Uriel came to custom mix a lighter color stain to match the new flooring that we were having installed. It was a perfect match and we were to happy to see Pedro work very hard to put it together for us. The stripping and staining required 5 days of hard work and Pedro was faithful to us the entire time; starting early in the mornings and finishing at a reasonable hour in the midafternoon. Once Pedro finished, then Walter came to fit the spindles. He was very careful and very cautious to get the measurements of the spindles accurate before he sawed them into place. He was very considerate of our preferences and he asked many questions before making his cuts, which I appreciate very much! He got the job done, but we were short one spindle! Not to worry because Jake came in the next few days to install the missing one! In the end my husband and I are very pleased with the beautiful new staircase! It is stunning, it is excellent, and it's a real showstopper! We are so happy that we called San Clemente Woodworking, Ed and Jake. Call them if your stairs need repairs or an overhaul. You'll be amazed at how transformative your staircase plays into the visual and artful features of your home. (949) 939-3802 read more

I really like people with good communication with a timely manner and Edward is great in that. It only took 15 mins or so on a Sunday for him to get back to me after I sent him a quote request through Yelp. Unfortunately the work I needed was not his speciality so I did not end up getting his work for my home but if I ever needed a staircase service, San clemente woodworking would be the first company I would contact. read more

I was so pleased on how the whole process worked. This company is top notch. From design to install, very professional and reliable.

They made a nice hand rail for our staircase. It was affordable in my opinion. I would definitely use them again. I wish they had stained it prior to going into my house but my flooring contractor was supposed to get the stain to them and didn't do so. So I completely understand that they needed to move onto another project. Everyone we met with was pleasant to deal with. Joe, Hayden & another guy (sorry I can't remember his name). read more

I was totally impressed with the quality of the work done on our stairwell. The installer went above and beyond keeping everything clean and his craftsmanship was outstanding. we had some issues with our floating wood floor and they were able to bring in a flooring expert sub contractor that solved the issue. Everyone who sees the stairwell are overwhelmed in the beauty of the white oak. Great people and a great company! read more

I went from carpet to vinyl flooring without realizing I needed to replace my blasters/ staircase/ living room railings. I freaked out!! I knew I eventually wanted to upgrade but now was not the time. I came across SCWW on yelp, reached out, and immediately felt comfortable with them. They were professional, communicative, and extremely helpful!! I provided some inspo pics and they brought my vision to life. My staircase/ railing is the staple of our home. We are very happy we made the right choice with them. They even recommended an amazing waterproofing company. THANK YOU SCWW!! :) read more

Real quality craftsmanship. I could not be more pleased with what this company has done for us. The entire process was simple and to the point. At the consultation, I met with Joe who walked us through the process of remaking my two staircases. One staircase is curved and the other just straight. I had older styled stairs with the wooden spindles and built in carpeted runner. I wanted to update them to a contemporary look of wooden treads and simple metal spindles. Joe was informative, gave great suggestions and transparent throughout. When it was time to schedule our start of work, the owner Ed contacted us for final measurements. After speaking to Ed, we really felt like we found a great family owned company that was enthusiastic about what they do. The carpenters, Walter & Edwardo, worked efficiently and it was amazing to see the artistry in their work. The entire process really couldn't have gone smoother. Joe and Ed were communicative throughout, they kept scheduling clear cut, and with top notch customer service. They are real professionals who are serious about their craft and delivering quality results. Money well spent. read more

San Clemente Woodworking did a fantastic job updating my 80's staircase -- from start to finish. After making a recommendation about the style, SCWW removed the old, outdated banister and wall-to-wall carpet, and replaced it with a beautiful updated banister with a new elegant curve, and white treads on the stairs (for a carpet runner). We also had an awful rough wood post that stood out like a sore thumb. We weren't sure what it should look like, but knew it just needed to be covered with wood. Ed suggested we leave it with him, and he transformed the post to the most amazing wood design. We could not have asked for something as nice. Thanks to Ed and his crew, the staircase with the "new" post is now the focal point of the entryway. Almost all who enter comment on how wonderful the stairs look. Ed is a craftsman and his work is top notch. His service was excellent, and his crew was very neat and very respectful of our property. I highly recommend Ed, Nick and San Clemente Woodworking. read more
