Not pleased with this sushi restaurant. When we entered there was only 1 guy behind the sushi bar. And we were told to grab any table we wanted. There were another couple that cane in after we did and funny enough, they grabbed the menu instead of the menu being handed to the customers. That was red flag #1. Red flag number #2 should have been all the football KC memorabilia like the fake superbowl trophies. Are you serious?? Red flag #3 was they only had 2 bento box options in their badly worn out laminated menus: Chicken and Beef bento box w/o the option of getting sashimi. We just walked out of there as if there was a tornado and decided to eat at an actual sushi restaurant. Personally I have no idea why this place got such a high rating. Quality of Service: D Quality of food: Never gave them a chance Price: B (higher than it should be comparing to other sushi restaurants) Recommendation: Go to Sushi Cuisine 1 exit north of 99 for genuine sushi experience.

What an adorable place in the shopping center, it looks closed from the outside but that's because the inside is fully decorated with greenery and dimming lights. It really felt like being transported to not quite Japan, but close vibes. It's you're typical American sushi restaurant- I've never been to a sushi restaurant like it. I came here for dinner with my parents first night in town. Fair prices and clean. There is an atentative staff, but I like that they just do their job and leave you to eat in peace. We sat at the sushi bar. I got a specialty roll, which was incredible and a basic tuna roll that was fine. The solo bathroom was a bit lacking and it loses a star due to music. It was RNB music videos on repeat with lots of nudity and too loud for a conversation. Not something I am interested in watching with my parents. But overall, I think they will be back as they live in town!

So many options to pick from. This place is probably top tier for us personally compared to the other sushi spots in town. The restaurant itself has a very fun vibe. The staff is always friendly. The food is always great. Even on their busiest days they're very transparent with their wait times which I feel is important when ordering so you know what to expect. They're definitely about quality over quantity. Keep up the great work.

This place gets busy. The staff are friendly. The food is okay. We had the dragon roll which was good and the spicy tuna roll this one was plain no toppings. I have never had a spicy tuna roll like that. We also ordered the udon noodles which was so hot you couldn't eat it. We packed it and it was still hot 30 minutes later. Overall it was an okay place.

The food it's great flavor and the price is just right for the food the service it's outstanding very good customer service the ambiance it's ok I will definitely order to pick up next time due to the small place and to avoid busy hours I order shrimp tempura California deep fried and King Kong deep fried 10/10 on everything!

This place has changed owners since my last review... thank GOD! The food is always great! They still put a lot of sauce on the rolls though. I enjoy coming here now though since it's so close to home. They have great customer service now!

If your looking for good service and quality this is the spot ! Rare to not find this spot packed because it's definitely a 10/10 This is my usual order and I never go wrong, they have many different options and I haven't been disappointed, Recommended!

My husband and I have become pretty picky about our sushi since moving back from the Bay Area and Samurai sushi is the only spot in Turlock that matches up to at quality without going to Modesto. Ambiance: we love the intimate size of the restaurant as well as the authentic decor. Service: service is always great and they are quick with takeout orders. Food and Bev: the rolls are unique and the quality has always been on point. We also appreciate their unique selection of sake and Japanese beers. Our favorite rolls so far: - Mama Kim - spicy tuna or salmon - all the California roll variations

The owners were born and raised in the Sonora area, and their undeniable passion for serving fantastic food to the local community - is evident. Both the owners and the staff genuinely care about cultivating a warm and accessible vibe at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse has an extensive menu - serving everything from quality steaks, to hibachi, to specialty sushi rolls, to fried rice, to noodle dishes and more. For their hibachi options you can choose from steak, to salmon, to chicken, to shrimp, to lobster, and more. All look (and I'm sure taste - as well) delicious. One particularly photogenic standout from their specialty sushi menu - was their Lobster King Roll, which is comprised of lobster tempura inside lobster salad and tobiko on top. Swoon. When we were here, we sampled an array of sushi rolls and hibachi options and all were exceptionally flavorful. If you have dietary issues or concerns - be sure to let the staff know. The staff are attentive and they seem eager to assist customers navigate the menu accordingly. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse isn't cheap, but you can tell by the quality of their food - that you're paying for well crafted dishes that have been made with intention. If you're on a budget - be sure to look into their lunch specials and bento box dinners, which are more wallet friendly. And don't be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion at a restaurant - Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is a formidable option. Their ambiance/decor may be a little too casual if you're looking for a romantic date destination, but if you want menu items that will delight your tastebuds and eyes - they got you. Trust.

That might have signaled something as far as expectations. The decor was pretty basic and not really what you would expect for a Japanese steakhouse...the decor looks more like a breakfast diner. They serve only wine and beer, no cocktails. Service staff were friendly enough. Our meals came with miso soups and a salad, the latter of which had an orange dressing (maybe French), not the sesame ginger you might expect. Our entrees came fairly promptly, yet lacked the white rice and fried rice sides that were supposed to accompany the main dishes. I'd say the rice didn't come until a good 10 minutes after the main entrees arrived. People in our party were trying to eat slowly (to buy time for the rice to arrive), though that meant our food was getting colder. All the hibachi entrees came with a few bonus shrimp. The meat was tasty enough and came with an orange sauce and a brown (sesame ginger) sauce for dipping. Don't come here expecting a teppanyaki table or to see your meal cooked on hibachi at your actual table...all the items are cooked out of view, in the kitchen. The experience was sort of 'meh' for me, but my husband had a slightly more favorable opinion. I have other restaurants I'd prefer returning to, before this one.

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! Sushi restaurant or a nightclub?…read more My friend and I decided to go for a night out Downtown. When we arrived at about 7:00pm, we were told there would be about an hour wait. Despite this long wait, there were actually quite a few empty tables, but was overall still very busy. When you put yourself on the waitlist, they notify you through text when your table is ready. This gave us ample time to walk around Downtown while we waited. When we received the table-ready text (just short of an hour later), we were sat quickly in a nice U-shaped booth. This seating arrangement felt a bit awkward for a party of two, especially if you are sharing food. The booth is too big to be sitting close enough to reach but too small to not feel awkward. It is perfect for people watching though since the booths face the entire restaurant. By this time, the restaurant was completely packed, with just about every booth, table, and barstool occupied. Our waiter came quickly to take our drink orders. We got a Cucumber Martini and an Espresso Martini. The Cucumber Martini was incredibly light and refreshing. The Espresso Martini was not impressive. It didn't have a strong espresso flavor and was rather watery, but still alright. This is the type of restaurant, that especially on busy nights like this where they don't accept reservations, you should allocate a lot of time for the dinner service for. There is a significant time gap between each time the waiter comes around to take your order. There was probably 15-20 minutes between placing our drink, appetizer, and meal orders. This was not a problem for us, but if you are eating here before making a show at the Gallo Center, this may be something to consider. For our appetizer, we ordered the Salmon Ceviche. It was insanely good. It was subtly spicy and citrusy. The chips that came with it were light and not oily at all. I wish the portion was larger because the two of us swallowed it up in just a few bites. For our entree, we got the Salmon Tataki and Goodi Rolls to split. They were both very good and came out on a lovely platter. They tasted very fresh and high quality. The prices here are on the higher side but is nice for a special occasion or splurge. Our server was very attentive and checked on us often. He was super friendly too. The restaurant was super lively. They were playing club music which was totally a vibe. It looked like this was the spot people hit before going out for the night. I noticed they were accommodating for both small and large parties, serving both rather quickly. I'll be back!
