Food: got the steak and scallop hibachi dinner which was tasty and delicious. It was definitely a lot of good although all kinda tasted the same cause they were all cooked with the same sauce and even style - from the fried rice, noodles, steak, and scallop. And all of them were more on the sweeter side. Service: pretty bad borderline horrendous. The waitress completely forgot our rice, until we had to remind her. She incorrectly rang us up and included additional 4 guests so our bill was ridiculously high. Ambiance: it was ok, either the table was a bit too high or the chair was a bit too low. But other than that it was ok.

I'm pretty sure the hibachi noodles were spaghetti noodles, but idc, they were delicious! Started a new tradition and went here for a late Christmas Day dinner. I really appreciated that they were open until 10. Our family doesn't celebrate in the traditional way so it was cool having a restaurant to have Christmas dinner at. My husband and I each had a drink and both of our drinks were gross. The recipes themselves were just not good flavor combinations and they made them strong, so yeah. Food was good. Between my sushi and my husband's, everything was good. Not 5 star amazing, but goid. We had a great server. Worked efficiently and professionally. My one main complaint about this place is the bathroom. The toilet barely works. Used toilet paper has to go into the trash can otherwise the toilet backups. Outdated to the point that it just always looks unkempt. Pretty good place to eat!

    The exterior isn't anything special

Hubby had to talk me into going to Samurai Steak House. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside - it's in a strip mall and the storefront is nothing special. The interior is nicely appointed, with beautiful wood accents, including a curvy wooden ceiling that it quite impressive. The hostess gave us our choice to sit in the hibachi room or in the dining room. Once we confirmed we could order from the hibachi without sitting in that room, we chose the dining room. We were seated in a comfortable booth that felt cosy and private because of the high back. The wall the booth was against was translucent glass, so we could see the light from the hibachi flames - very cool. I ordered edamame, miso soup, and the crunch roll. Hubby ordered hibachi steak and shrimp, with a side order of fried rice. I had plum wine; hubby had Sapporo. The edamame was exactly what one would expect. The soup was good, and the crunch roll was delicious (although I don't think it was really a crunch roll, because it wasn't tempura). The plum wine was a terrific accompaniment my meal. It was sweet, but with a citrusy finish that complemented the spice of the (alleged) crunch roll. Hubby's entire meal (which he generously allowed me to share) was absolutely yummy! The shrimp was grilled to perfection, the steak was tender, and the fried rice was some of the best I've ever eaten. The soba noodles that came with the meal were also tasty, dressed lightly with a teriyaki sauce. Boy, am I glad I let hubby talk me into eating here! We will be back. My dad is a huge hibachi fan and this place is a great alternative to Benihana, which I find overly kitschy.

The atmosphere was not at all what I was expecting. My husband and I went out for our anniversary and thought this would be a nice steakhouse. We walked in feeling overdressed and had a table with a family including kids watching shows loudly on a phone right next to us. My biggest issue, though, was I ordered a mocktail (I forget the name, but it was an espresso martini made with non-alcoholic spirits) directly from the menu, exactly how it's listed in there, and was brought a regular espresso martini. I took one sip and could tell the difference. When I asked my server if it was in fact the one I ordered, she told me she rung in a regular one. I was 8 months pregnant at the time, so this was not great. While she was very apologetic and corrected the error, this was a big mishap.

For dinner I ordered the 14 oz New York Strip Steak and green beans. My wife got the Chicken Lelli with mashed potatoes and green beans. We were both very pleased with our meals. The steak was tender and cooked and seasoned perfectly with no need for sauce. The green beans were tender, but still crisp with the right amount of garlic. My wife's Chicken Lelli was huge and she said delicious. She did have enough to bring half home. This place did live up to our expectations. Everything was top notch for us. We had started off with a mixed board charcuterie board which held an assortment of different cheeses, meats, breads, and veggies. This board was underwhelming; for $20, it felt poor quality-wise. The breads felt stale, and the vegetables were sad and tasted horrible. Putting aside the negative comments and the absolutely blazing campfire behind my seat, my service was amazing. We had Rayna Rose serve us, and she was so kind, friendly, and beautiful. She showed professionalism while providing a comforting tone and attitude to the total environment. While observing her with other tables, I saw that she not only treated everyone with the same kindness and respect but really put her best effort into her work and service. After around 30 minutes of waiting, our entrées came out. I ordered their signature Oak burger, and my sister ordered the sirloin entrée. My burger came out with soggy buns, stale fries that weren't crispy, and ketchup that was average. My sister's sirloin was bland, dry, and the balsamic glaze made the overall dish sour, and not in a good way. We were able to finish the soggy burger as a team, but the sirloin was unbearable. Overall, I give this place a 5/10.

There was no question, I would see my friend. We had selected Chicane earlier, eager to try the new restaurant in a familiar setting, by the train tracks on Starkweather. This location was formerly Station 885, a restaurant my friend and I visited years earlier, when a toy train ran along tracks around the perimeter, delighting her young daughter. We arrived early, scoring a great table with a view of the large bar, lounge, and stage. The restaurant is glamorous, with gorgeous lighting and attractive furnishings. Musicians entertained the eager and appreciative audience. There are so few places that provide this level of entertainment and hospitality. I had already previewed the menu and was anticipating the meal ahead. The duck sounded amazing and is almost always my first choice. However, the short ribs were tempting, as were the scallops in a coconut curry broth. I went with my first instinct, the duck, paired with a French Onion soup. The medium-rare duck breast was perfectly prepared; I liked the sweet potato puree and slaw accompaniments. Incidentally, the portion was huge. My friend enjoyed her braised short rib, which was on the 2-course supper menu, available before 6pm. For dessert, I went with the chocolate cube. Unfortunately, I didn't even see the banana parfait, which was mentioned in several of the reviews here. Oh, well, I was content. The dessert had a bold, intense chocolate flavor, which paired well with the ice cream's more subtle flavors. I also appreciated the different textures on the plate. Service was fantastic: professional and helpful. Unfortunately, my car died during the cold, and TripleA was unable to help, given the number of people/vehicles in a similar situation. The restaurant staff went above and beyond to find someone (the Executive Chef, who was in the middle of service) to provide a jump; I am so grateful for the gracious hospitality.
