    Salmon Teriyaki Bowl

Something light, fresh and oh so DEL-ISH-IOUS!!! Yes, this is exactly what Samurai Sam's on Via Linda is. Golden Grilled perfectly flaky crisp and so very savory. Huge lemon wedges to give it that extra tangy zest. Love the rice always fluffy like white clouds and paired perfectly with an abundantly steamed veggies. I asked to eat it with chop sticks so that I could savor every bite! I just signed up for the Samurai Sam's Circle and I got get $10 for every 100 points, I also get a birthday reward 7 days before my birthday so that I can enjoy even more savings. Makes sense I like getting rewards for everything I buy. Samurai Sam's your Amazing! Just Love it!

Marline is the nicest lady in the world. She knew everyone's name as they walked in the door, or she introduced herself and got your name if it was your first visit. Who even does that anymore? I felt like home immediately. I also ordered the General Sam's bowl. It is a spicy bowl and quite amazing. The rice is perfect in the bottom, and then all the jalapenos! It was a spicy hot lunch, and partial dinner as the helping was huge. They got my order to go, you can go inside to place your order and they have it ready pretty quickly, it was made to order, not sitting there waiting for you. I will go back based on the service alone, and also for the delicious food.

Some days I feel spoiled working so close to such a great food option. My co-worker convinced me to try this place out as it is one of his favorite spots. I was not disappointed. It was like finding a hidden gem in our nearby sea of food selections in North Scottsdale. It is located in the same plaza as Goldie's Sports Bar and surrounded on all sides by residential streets and a park. Everyone that works there is friendly and genuinely happy to see you. It's true that they'll remember your name also - it's a bit like Cheers. I usually get a standard Teriyaki Chicken and rice bowl and love that it is chock full of delicious chicken and veggies on a huge bed of rice. I've also tried their Korean BBQ Chicken bowl which has a great sauce. The best thing they do there is grill their egg rolls rather than deep fry them. They taste so fresh and healthy. Sign up for their email notifications and you'll get a coupon for a free one.

The kind lady that served us!

Food was really good! I got the teriyaki chicken and rice bowl. The manager was so kind and knows the community really well. The aesthetic and vibe of this restaurant is really kind and warm. Would 100% recommend.

Samurai Sam's tries hard at creating some Asian inspired food The three of us came here last week, each ordering something different. I had three chicken tacos which were good, but had virtually no meat. As you can see from the photos, it's hard to find any. Lots of veggies though. As for my friends, they each ordered different types of teriyaki bowls. Both came with a lot of rice, but again not much else. Sadly, you can get nearly twice as much food at Panda Express. It's hard to justify coming back, our bill came to $24.70, including two soft drinks and one water. So, Two Stars and yes, we have had better. Sorry!

They have a table or two outside but they're not setup for outdoor seating, fyi. The restaurant is nicely decorated and dark, which took some getting used to. We were greeted warmly and chose a booth towards the right. I had noticed their lunch specials offered M-F 11-2pm so we both ordered from that menu. I got the L/Cali+Shrimp Tempura Combo: California Roll (Half Size), Shrimp Tempura Roll (Half Size), Gyoga(3PCS), Miso Soup. My companion got the L/Rainbow+Dynamite Combo: Rainbow Roll (Half Size), Dynamite Roll (Half Size), 2PCS Nigiri (Chef Choice), Miso Soup. Our soups were brought out pretty quickly and our food not long after. For the price point ($12) and quantity, my lunch special was definitely worth it. It came with 10 California rolls, 5 shrimp tempura rolls, and 3 gyozas. I was pleased to see their gyozas have chicken in them, usually they have pork so I can't eat them. I love their purple rice - so unique. I don't think I'd tried it before and it was good. All of the items I tried were fresh and flavorful. Service was great and I was surprised it wasn't busier during their lunch hour. Maybe later on or dinner gets more of a crowd. I'm glad we tried out this spot and I'd love to come back!

I also ordered salmon skin and here is where the star deduction came into play. The salmon skin was served to me the way I asked - no rice, no sauce, no vegetables - BUT, it was burnt. So if I do go back, I would probably request them NOT to cook it so long. I ordered my husband a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll to go. He said the spicy tuna was good but the spicy salmon wasn't - it was as if the salmon quality that was used was poor.

Unfortunately, the experience was disrupted by a large group of intoxicated golfers. There is a dress code, and had it been enforced, this situation may have been avoided. My husband and I were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary, and the group became extremely loud--yelling, using inappropriate language, and creating an uncomfortable environment. Management did try to handle the situation, but when the group was leaving, their behavior escalated. They were running around near our table, and when my 69-year-old husband (who uses a scooter and oxygen) spoke up, they became confrontational and appeared ready to start a fight. It was disappointing and honestly a bit unsettling. For a $200+ dinner, you expect a peaceful and upscale experience. While the restaurant itself is wonderful and the staff made an effort, this incident took away from what should have been a very special evening.

Talking Stick has a spacious free parking lot. After entering the casino, you'll see some elevators close to the Cultural Center. Take them to the top and you'll be in for a treat. Ambiance (5/5): It doesn't get much better than this. When you exit the elevators, you'll be in the spacious bar area. If you're looking for drinks, you can sit at the bar or the comfortable seating that surrounds the bar. Don't sit for too long though because there's a little outdoor deck close to the elevators where you can see nice views of Scottsdale and Phoenix. Move toward the back and you'll find the sit-down restaurant and patio area. On the patio, you'll see those same scenic views. There's even an area with 10 or so semi-circle booths that face the windows (and those views I mentioned). Definitely a romantic, date night type of spot. Service (3.5/5): The service hasn't been bad the two times I've stopped by, just a bit slow. There was one bartender both times I visited. The second time, he must have gone to the bathroom or something because I waited 10 minutes or so to order a drink. That's the downside of only having one bartender working. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks the two times I've visited, but I have perused the menu and it looks interesting. It's upscale, think of it as the menu you'd typically see at a steakhouse with some flair. What type of flair, you ask? Exotic game. We're talking things like ostrich fillets. If you're the adventurous type, all of this should pique your interest. If you're not, there's a lot of "regular stuff" on the menu too. Drinks (4/5): Orange Sky has an interesting list of craft cocktails. I've tried two different cocktails and they were both solid. I was impressed with the unique blend of ingredients. They're a bit pricey, but well done and boozy (always a plus in my book). Outside of cocktails, they have a full bar so beer, wine, liquor, etc. That ostrich fillet is on my mind. I'll have to try it on my next visit.

So then on top of that I had to tip of course as I don't want to not give the chef nothing. Just seems a bit extreme. Everything is already on the expensive side which is fine as it's a nice restaurant but the additional service charge was too much. Also the percentage options were incorrect. The amount it told me to tip to make it 18% was actually 26%. Probably an issue with their POS and not them but seems like a money grab and something they should prioritize fixing.
