Liquor Store is the latter. You'll find it at the corner of Poplar and Mendenhall, where Memphis traffic oozes through the intersection like molasses contemplating life. Parking isn't abundant, so prepare to circle a bit. We somehow snagged the very last space, which immediately felt like the culinary gods whispering, "Yeah... today's your day." The second you walk inside, the heat dies. Not "bank lobby in Memphis where your sweat flash-freezes into an ice sculpture" cold. Just perfectly air-conditioned. The kind of temperature where your body finally stops negotiating with humidity and starts believing in happiness again. The room breathes. High ceilings--but not cathedral or airplane-hangar ridiculous. Just enough space to make the place feel alive without feeling like you're eating breakfast in a Costco. Then comes the staff. Fast. Friendly. Professional. Zero wasted motion. These people move with the confidence of mechanics during a Formula One pit stop. Nobody is pretending to be busy. I said ma'am, what does that have to do with receiving fresh and hot food, I understand what time the restaurant opens, but its only 8:23am now. She said let her go and get another biscuit and bacon from the kitchen. We waited, and we waited for at least another 12 to 15 minutes. I walked over to ask another server for the young lady that was assisting us, then I saw her walking towards the patio where we were seated with a plate, I walked over to meet her to see that it was another saggy biscuit and two pieces of bacon as if it was thrown into hot grease and fried. I said, ma'am I am so sorry, but we cannot eat this food. Please just take it all back. She said she can not. This is the food we ordered, she can box it up and we can take it with us, but we will have to pay for it. I said, no ma'am we are not paying for food that will only go into the garbage. She told us, that if we did not pay for it she would have to call the police, and get the proper authorities here to let them handle it. We said okay, call them, we will sit right here until they come. And we sat and we waited.... She came back out and said, I have your receipt. I said ma'am respectfully, we can not eat this and we cannot pay for this. She said since yawl not going to pay, I need to take your name and number. So I gave her my real name and my real number, and expressed that I look forward to the call and I hope she have a good Friday and a great weekend. We left... and have committed to not come back to this restaurant. So sad, and I hope it turns things around because it is not going in a positive direction...So sad....
