Basically, Carl's is a crazy discount shop. Mostly groceries, but there's some home improvement stuff in the back, and a surprising amount of party supplies. You will even find clothing, toys, DVDs, etc. Around Christmas, they had seasonal décor, giftwrap supplies, etc. A few of my favorite finds: Vosges chocolate bars for $1.99 and Guittard bars for $0.99! Limes 10 for $1! Maille mustard and Bonne Maman jams for $1! They have a good selection of Mexican cooking ingredients. You can always get decent brands of boxed pasta for around $0.50, and nearly all pantry staples are priced at least 75% off the cost at a standard supermarket. If a price is written on a product in Sharpie, it is likely expired, otherwise still check the dates, but I only found one "regular" priced product that was expired. I don't know where they get this stuff. Some are limited releases or damaged packaging, but otherwise I can find nothing wrong. I would mostly steer clear of the perishables, though you're a grown up, so just use your best judgement! They had some fresh herbs plus onions, apples, and other long storing produce that appeared fine. There is also a bit of refrigerated and frozen foods. I didn't check that section out, but I saw tons of people buying those goods, especially a particular packaged ham, so who knows? It was pretty busy on my most recent visit (a Friday around 5pm), but they seriously had some of the friendliest customers and employees, even with a long line. I don't live in Ogden, and I used to make a point of stopping here whenever up this way, but I got out of the habit so that I hadn't gone in a while. A shame because I spent $50 and left with six GIANT bags full of stuff. I love this funky store.

There was a worker that got me and my friends kicked out of the entire mall. All 4 of my friends and me went into the store and he was instantly eyeing us. It wasn't until one of my friend tossed a ball to the other so that he could see the price. my friend saw it and lightly tossed it back. The first friend that now had the ball put it bat and we continued looking around until 2 seconds later this worker that had short hair, a beard, and looked to be 22 instantly kicked us out the store with no warning. We asked why and He said that we were there the Tuesday before (1/30/24) this instance and that we were throwing a ball around the store then. I told him that it was my friends first time being there and I had been there before, but it was around 3 weeks before this instance. This little cry baby did not like that i was "talking back to him". He called security and we thought that security had let us go after because he didn't say we had to leave, but he kept following us when we would go into other stores in the mall until we stop and started talking to each other. One guard came up to us and told us where to leave and we just left. I was very disappointed because he made us wait in the rain for like 15-20 minutes for my mom to come pick me and my friends up.
