I've been here countless times for curbside pickup and every single time those poor workers are severely overworked. It's ALWAYS the same guy working his BUTT off bringing out orders when there's a huge ton of cars waiting and I hear him having to deal with angry customers verbally abusing him for taking too long. I believe he said his name is Carlos when I asked him for his name. I gave him props because it's always him by himself going in and out bringing us our orders. I never complain when I wait 30+ minutes to a hour because I know it's not his fault. He's always super apologetic and really nice whenever my order is taking long. Really sweet kid. I 100% blame his management for not hiring more people to help him. Do something about it. It's absolutely ridiculous you have one person bringing orders to like 20 cars and having to deal with the customers yelling at him. You're overworking your employees to the bone. You clearly don't have enough staff, so hire more people. I also hope you give Carlos a raise, because he 100% deserves it. Shame on management or whoever is in charge of Curbside. I am switching to Costco even though it is more expensive for me and further away just to avoid the awful customer service at Sam's club. Every single customer service experience I have add at this location has been bad whether it be through the phone, or in person. I had a coupon that I received if I had gotten a membership for Sam's club and you would receive $10 back that you could use at the store. No one wanted to help me to figure out how to use it. I am a new club member and also a senior. I fully expected to get a card to check out, instead they expected me to check out online. I was at a total loss on how to do that and ready to cancel the whole procedure. Instead Debbie, in customer service, went out of her way help me. They closed the Sam Club in Stream Wood which was bigger and had a lot different varieties. Now I have to go to the one in Addison which is smaller. I love Sam Clubs and never had a problem with any of the cashiers. Everyone is friendly and pleasant. The gas is cheaper than Costco and a lot of other products as well. I have both cards and shop at both but more so Sam clubs for food and gas! Costco is 2 minutes from my house and Sams Clubs is about 15/20 minutes but I will make the drive to Sams Club for the premium gas that's always cheaper than Costco. This Sams club is really hit or miss kind a place. Some days you will find great selection of products, really clean and organized then couple days, weeks later you'll go and theres nothing to select from, products all over the place and service not the best. I learned more and more that is easier to use your scan and go app then go to cash register. My membership allows me to earn points , from the purchases I make. My last visit I decided to go to cash register (big mistake) and pay with points. Well that could not be done, because I needed to scan Sams credit card, which I never used or received (in the past I used the points with out any credit cards). After 30min wait at the customer service desk where I was moved they said I can't use my points, so I used the scan and go app and magically the app took my points with out any issues or usage of random Credit Card. All together waisted 45min and at the end I had to scan everything myself. If there was closer Cosco I would probably switch. Each time I go there are always some kind of issues and employees that act as they try to help but they really are not. This is my local Sam Club for big bulk items, especially for parties (think superbowl bash)! They just remodeled the place, it looks nice. Cleaned and organized. They have a friendly staff that I have encountered. I just wish they would offer more organic choices like Costco does and maybe coupons in the mail would be nice too. I would recommend to come here during the week day (nights) much slower than coming here during the weekend day time. If you must come here during the weekend, I would recommend to start your day here in the early AM or later like dinner time or else you'll have road rage in the parking lot and cart crashing in the store especially when they offer FREE samples. I've been shopping at Sam's for years and I'm happy to report this location will not be closing! Out of all locations nearby, this is my fav club (def beats M.P.). While both Sam's and Costco have good savings, discounted items, great finds and a similar meat & seafood dept, I love that I can pickup a 2 pack steak at Sam's when I don't have room in my freezer for 4 at Costco. Sam's caters to smaller quantities in addition to bulk which is nice when you really don't need more. For me, its an added bonus to shop here. Organic whole chickens, organic & grass fed beef, crab legs, fresh salmon & tuna. If you happen to see the Member's Mark Smoked & Flame roasted Norwegian salmon, try it. It's my new fave. Fresh berries, sometimes fresh mango slices. Cases of Kombucha. Great selection of apples. As with any store, not everything is at its prime. I always always check expiration dates and feel veggies/fruit, but this store does get busy and turn over is high. I've never seen a single Cowboy ribeye steak at Costco. 2 dozen Organic Free range eggs for $7? Can't beat that. Half loaf breads. There are definitely perks to each store, but there are some unique grocery & non items here. Member's Mark isn't bad although I do have my go-to Kirkland items. The one downside is the selection isn't as varied as the other store. Cheese & wine section isn't the greatest. Some produce is more expensive than your local grocery store. Let's face it, most generalize Sam's as inferior to Costco as if it caters to lower socioeconomic status. Regardless of income, each store is unique in their own way. Worker's are always friendly and helpful. Items are nicely stocked. It's not always a zoo (except for weekends). I try to shop on week days (so peaceful). They don't give a ton of samples (if you happen to be a sample person). Return's aren't as carefree, but I still like Sam's and yes convenience is another great perk! Ps. Being super hungry, I just tried their hot dog recently (haven't had in years) and it didn't sit well with me, only took a few bites but hey, you might like it. Heard the $1 churros are great even though I'm not really a churro gal. I placed an order online and drove to this location not knowing they don't bring your gorceries to your car. So I sat in the car for 20 minutes just waiting. This Sam's Club location is probably the busiest that I typically visit. This really shows on the weekends when the gas station has a line, checkout can take a while, and the items on shelves may not be as neatly arranged as they could be. Otherwise, this is a standard Sam's Club with plenty of parking and plenty of discount goods for the family. I'm not sure if this is a smaller or older Sam's Club as well, as it doesn't seem to have as good of a selection as other Sam's Club locations I've seen. read more

This Sam's Club is ok, although it can be a bit ghetto at times. Yes, the prices are low on everyday items, but it's just a blah store. I miss my wife's Costco membership. At least it isn't super dirty like some other locations. I would seriously consider going back to Costco if this store wasn't so conveniently located to us. It's just off I-355 (Lake St. exit) in Addison. The worst quality here is the attitude of some of the associates. It's so obvious that they don't like their jobs. Get over it and don't be rude to the customers. I worked in retail for a couple of years, and yes, the pay and hours stink. That's not the customers fault. Unless you're super hungry, skip the food here because the pizza, hot dogs, churros, etc will all leave you feeling bit ill. I have used their vision center and it's ok. Expect long waits though, even when their not that busy, because quite often they only have one person working there. The people in their optical department lied to me. Said I could get $40 off the second pair even if it was for someone else and then that girl got fired so now they're saying its only if its for the same person. Sams always does this, has some angle on how to save and makes you THINK you're saving but you don't once you read the fine print which they never tell you about til last minute. Same goes with their plus membership which is a total rip off. Their membership has also gone up, I'm glad I renewed right before the increase, but I will most likely not be renewing again...it's just impractical unless you have a large family. The ONLY benefit I get from being a member as a single person is the gas price is a lot better than anywhere else, but I've also noticed my gas mileage isn't as good when I gas up at Sam's, the quality of their gas must be less too. read more

I just joined Sam's Club because Groupon had a special. And their gas prices are unbeatable. However the store in Addison, IL is one of the filthiest places I think I've ever visited in my life. There was no rhyme or reason to the aisles. Furniture was in the center of the store in the back of the store was just kind of random. The worst part though was the dirt it was just so dirty that I felt very uncomfortable. Unfortunately I had to use the restroom while I was there and that was even more disgusting. I wore a mask the entire time I was in the store, however touching the cart was gross. It's unfortunate because the customer service there was very good. I was getting my card for the first time I was still in line for a very very short time and got the card with no issues. Get in, get out. That's what I like about Sam's Club. I just hate all the stuff I get sucked into buying. Yes, I need a 5lb bag of chocolate chips, NOT! Why do I do this? Not sure. If you have a huge family and you're big on cooking or baking, I guess it can be OK for you to shop here. If you're watching what you're eating, then ditch the membership and go to a fresh market and get what you really should be eating. This isn't my usual Sam's Club, but my dentist is in the area, and I was at my gym in Lombard on Sunday and it didn't make sense for me to backtrack to Woodridge so I was there again recently. I've been here a few times, and because it's not my usual store, the layout confuses me a little bit. I like to stock up here on their bottled water - you can get a few brands at larger quanities for less than regular grocery stores. No matter what, I always browse the clothes section. It's a little weird to say "I got this sweater at Sam's Club" but if it's Kenneth Cole or Calvin Klein and you only paid $14!!! Who cares, right?! Well, I spent a LOT of time last winter looking for the perfect winter coat. I failed at that mission and kept my white coat which needed cleaning way too often. I also didn't way to pay $200 for a coat to wear maybe 2-3 months either. I picked up a Kenneth Cole winter down coat with a hood for $50!!! this past weekend. Unreal! I recently purchased a Sam's Club membership after not having one for almost 10 years. I am extremely pleased by the changes. Sam's Club has definitely made strides to become more competitive with Costco. Highlights: 1) $5 full-cooked rotisserie chickens. They are much larger than the ones they sell at the grocery store. 1 chicken makes about 3 meals for the hubs and I. 2) Less expensive gas. The cost of gas here is the same as the "with carwash" price at other places. 3) Grab and go drinks and food on your way out. Super cheap eats! 4) With the higher level membership you can shop at 7 am during the week. 5) Nice selection of produce...awesome prices read more

I'm a Costco girl at heart, but my ma' got a deal on a Sam's membership, so we now carry both. (Ahem..apparently two single females need industrial-sized packages of food..??) I prefer Costco because (dare I say it), it's a bit less warehouse-y, many of the deals are just better, and they seem to offer a greater selection, except the international cheeses and coffee, which Sam's seems to have the upper hand on. Aaaaanyway, I digress: I was in dire need of contacts, and brought my prescription to Sam's after getting a coupon stating that a 3-pair (6 lens) box of my beloved Acuvue 2's (which I hear are being discontinued next year) are only $15-and-some-change per box. Even though Sam's and WalMart are obviously owned by the same company, I paid more for the exact same contacts through WalMart two years ago. Interesting! Just proves you have to shop around. And, dummy me: I walked in clutching my little 1"x1" square coupon (expiring 6/31!) like it was some prize, when in fact the contacts were normally priced the $15+change anyway. Durr. Well, I'm hoarding those Acuvue 2's like a mo'fo, thanks to Sam's! The staff at the Optical were both helpful: the gentleman was friendly, didn't make fun of me for my sad little coupon display, and prioritized me despite the fact that he had about 8 trays of glasses stacked in front of him. While he put my information into the computer, I perused the frames, looking for a D&G frame I had admired at a different Sam's. The woman working there stopped what she was doing, too, asked if I needed help, and looked in their stock to see if there was a D&G pair that wasn't on display (there wasn't). Overall it was a quick trip today, I got what I needed, and customer service at the Optical was pretty awesome! Win! read more

I was looking for peanut butter one time and one of the workers looked all over for about ten minutes (they were just sold out at that particular time) and when I only had a few items and all the lines were long a service desk employee came to me and let me check out at the service desk area. They have a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and overall the prices are cheaper than Costco. Sam's also has special discounts on many items, just like Costco.
