Love Scratch Cookery. This is what a Nashville hot chicken sandwich is supposed to be…read more Unlike a lot of the chains like Dave's where it can basically feel like a chicken tender thrown into a bun, Scratch serves a huge, thick piece of actual chicken breast. The portions are serious, the chicken is juicy, and the breading has a great crunch. What really sets them apart for me is the spice. I've had levels 3, 4, and 5, and they're not simply the same seasoning with progressively more heat. Each level actually has a different pepper profile and flavor. Level 3 brings cayenne and Thai chili, level 4 moves into Thai chili and habanero, and level 5 adds habanero and ghost pepper. You can taste the difference, not just feel more burn. The seasoned fries are great too and they definitely don't skimp on the portions. It is a little pricey for a chicken sandwich and fries, but when you see the size and quality of what you're getting, I think it's worth it. Scratch is easily one of my favorite hot chicken spots.

It was huge, juicy, and tasted absolutely amazing. The only downside was the customer service. The cashier gave us attitude when we asked how spicy level #3 was. He said it was like a habanero pepper, and when I asked again how spicy it actually was, he responded, "You've never had a habanero pepper?" That made me uncomfortable because I don't usually eat spicy food, and I don't work here to know your spice levels. There are tables inside, but the outdoor seating feels much nicer. The inside just has a weird vibe. We also got their IPA beer, which paired perfectly with the sandwich!

You would expect a punch for flavor from birria. The consome was good on its own but once you dip the ball, all the flavor was gone. It's clean and has a lot more space than the truck. Food might take longer because of the demanding service. Fried chicken is always consistent and leaves little room for improvement. I just happen to be at spark social without a plan and what do I find? The Jojo's chicken truck itself! So you can imagine my excitement when I just happen to come across one. I decided to order the combo 1 medium and lemon pepper. The wait was like 40~50 minutes but the place was packed so expected. Then, when I get the order and bit in, I quickly realized they were both lemon pepper, but that will not deter me from rating the food itself. I have to say, it was good, but not amazing. The lemon pepper had a good flavor, maybe a bit salty and the chicken was well fried but the meat was slightly hard. The fries were actually better than the sandwich to be honest, flavorful, rich, maybe the chicken oil got transferred over to the fries. Overall, I don't think it's at Scratch or Chick N' Bros level but little worse than chicken drip near Coleman. I'm seeing comments that the quality's been going down hill so I may have hit a bad batch too. I think I need to go try it out their restaurant for a retry since I haven't given up my hope yet. I'll just say the food truck Jojo at spark social was a 3. For ambiance, the place was packed even though I think it's been open for like 2~3 week since opening when I went. Lot of food truck options and a nice vibe.

They do provide 5 gallon buckets that are used for seats, and a couple of planks/boards that can be used as tables while you are scarfing down your food.
