Before any of these food trucks became popular, we'd always refer to these trucks as "Roach Coaches!" Do any of you remember that? Whenever I'd hear about a food truck back in the day, the first thing that would come to mind is prepackaged food. However, those days are long gone! These food trucks are now capable of whipping up gourmet meals that could potentially rival any local sit down restaurant. At this particular location, the trucks only come out on Friday night, with 9-11 different trucks to choose from. They also provide live music and fun games for the family. They do provide 5 gallon buckets that are used for seats, and a couple of planks/boards that can be used as tables while you are scarfing down your food. Some folks just bring their own chairs, as those buckets eventually make your ass pretty sore. Moveable Feast is awesome for those who have never really experienced a food truck night. What I love about it is that you don't have to chase down local food trucks by checking out their Twitter or Facebook updates to know where they'll be parked. And on top of that you get to experience a whole bunch of awesome Bay Area food trucks all in one spot. Moveable Feast on Friday nights in Willow Glen is a great foodie date night for sure. The bf and I have been here twice now (first time was still during my jaw surgery recovery phase where I was unable to chew, so it wasn't as exciting for me then). This last time we went we noticed that the most popular trucks were Sam's Chowdermobile, Grilled Cheese Bandits and Hill Country BBQ. The lines for those 3 were endless. But we did get to try come mashed tater balls and a delicious italian style grilled cheese sammich from Grilled Cheese Bandits about an hour before Moveable Feast was closing. And the bf got the very last link dog over at Hill Country BBQ, which he said was better than the Miso Dog he had over at Oh Miso Hungry truck. Let me list out what we had at the few trucks we chose to order from. Oh Miso Hungry Kimchi grilled cheese was actually not as good as it sounds. The kimchi was definitely delicious but it didn't taste right being super warm in between those pieces of Texas toast. And the Miso Dog the bf had, he liked but didn't love. MoGo BBQ Kalbi and bulgogi tacos. I liked the meat, tasted good. Not a fan of the corn tortillas they used. Barefoot Coffee The bf ordered a small coffee on drip to swing over to Treatbot Ice Cream since the guy over there told us the ice cream tastes bomb with that coffee. I had a sip of that coffee, holy shizz it was strong! Treatbot We had a scoop of horchata and a scoop of chocolate ice cream to go into the coffee. This is the second time I've had their horchata ice cream and I'm a HUGE fan for sure. Hill Country BBQ They ran out of most of their food about an hour before closing time. I liked the sauces they had out and pretty curious about the Porkolicious sauce. Looked interested! Next time, I'll be sure to try some of that pulled pork that was oh-so-popular. Grilled Cheese Bandit We ordered the small order of mashed tater balls which were okay but a bit too salty for us. Their Giuliano sandwich sure was bomb though! It came with mozzarella, parmesan and tomatoes with pesto on this amazingly soft Italian batard bread. Hands down, best thing I ate that night. I'm still very curious about what Sam's Chowdermobile has to offer but that damn line never let up! It was also extremely chilly that night, what the F happened to summer weather San Jose? But yeah, next time we'll definitely have to just stick it out and stand in line for some chowder. I would rate Moveable Feast 5 stars if they included better dessert trucks than just Fairycakes (cupcakes, which I'm not a fan of) and ice cream and candy. I'm glad that eastridge is getting some love now! It used to be so dead, but now it's making a comeback with 24 hour fitness and now moveable feast every Saturday from 5-9pm. I recommend coming early because some trucks may run out of food and there's no parking. It's a great date night for your friends or your significant other. There's a variety of food and dessert that you can choose from. I got a short rib burrito from MoGo's. Loved it! However it's smaller and pricier than before. Since when did they charge you tax? I may understand if it was for using card but I paid cash. I think it's just this truck cause my boyfriend got food at Adams Grub Truck and he didn't pay tax. He got some criss cut fries topped with slaw, an egg for an extra dollar, chicken on one side and pulled pork on the other all for $11! Way bigger than my burrito. We were too stuff to get dessert from Scoops or Treatbot. Worth checking it out! Nice lights everywhere and there's a DJ playing music. There's even a big size of Jenga to play. read more

We have always seened this place when we exit the freeway. There is ample amount of parking but it's so crowded here. The lines are pretty long and the wait is sometimes forever. There are a variety of trucks to choose from, some sweet some soupy and some in a rice bowl. At this one they have heat lamps and buckets to sit on. You usually don't find a bucket because people use them as tables instead of letting others sit. I really like the one in Milpitas better than this one. read more

I remember long time ago when Moveable Feast was only just once a week, like on a Saturday night next to San Pedro Square. It's fantastic that now it's every day of the week, in a different location - including south sJ on Mondays, willow glen on Fridays, and west sJ on Sundays. While chasing after trucks is fun, it is so convenient when they are all in one spot for a couple of hours. There's always such a variety of trucks that there's got to be something you're in the mood for! Grilled cheese sammies (grilled cheese bandits, melts my heart), korean fusion (koja kitchen, mogo bbq), ice cream! (treatbot!), pork belly buns (chairman bao!!). willow glen has the most trucks, but it also has the biggest crowds. the MF at garden city is closest to me and has maybe five or six trucks, but it's less crowded. Check out MF's facebook page to see which food trucks are going to be at each location - then you can decide whether to check it. Attended the Moveable Feast on Friday this week. It was a lil chilly but still a fun event. The band playing had everyone dancing. They were really fun and interacted with the audience. Being Cinco de Mayo we had tacos, my son had a Plain Jane hot dog from The Road Dog, he had plain tots too. The quality of the hot dog and tots was great and delicious. We went back and got tots smothered in jalapeño cheese and jalapeños. Omg they were to die for. Not heathy at all but definitely a must try. We also tried the grilled cheese truck, pretty good- but has nothing on the Don's Deli: grilled cheese American and mozzarella on asiago bread. Phenom! Nice to have a weekly food truck stop every Friday... and in MY CITY!!! Even better. Wasn't that hungry when I got here so I shared some food with the hubby. We got garlic noodles and beef skewer from An-The-Go. The garlic noodles were good, yes, but the price was ridiculous for what it costs to make the damn thing. It was like $7 for the garlic noodles alone and $9 for garlic noodles plus a skewer of your choice (choose between pork, beef, and chicken). We also tried the Chairman's Pork Belly Bao. They were out of the baked buns so we had to settle for a steamed one. I didn't like the steamed one that much, but hubby did. Next time I'll def make sure I order a baked bun! The variety is awesome, the wait is worth it. Plenty of parking. I've never had an issue finding a spot to park. People being out their classic cars and hot rods. I've never felt unsafe. Had my first moveable feast experience tonight... and loved it! Took the family and enjoyed a nice evening of munching on some great eats. Here's what we tried... Hula Truck: the BayRitto. Yum. Tater tots, meat, cheese, egg, all in a burrito??? Ok yes please. Kabob Job: gyro. Not like any I've ever tasted, but sure was good. My son loved it. A bit of kick in the sauce added a nice twist to a classic. Sam's: chowder. My daughter's fav. Treatbot: cookies and milk ice cream. I just had a bite. Creamy and tastes exactly like you'd imagine from the name! Fairy cakes: my favorite was the bananas foster cupcake. Omg. To die for. It's a great family event. My favorite way to experience food truck food is when I can go to a place with a nice selection of food trucks. I always get excited to see what trucks will be coming to the moveable feast. My favorite trucks are The Chairman (steamed pork belly baos), Sam's Chowdermobile (the clam chowder), and Koja Kitchen (the kamikaze fries). I also like Treatbot's horchata ice cream (but I wish they kept their ice cream colder). They do provide buckets and planks but I would suggest to bring your own lawn chairs and a TV tray and eat in the parking lot. read more

I got to try the whole Moveable Feast/Food Truck extravaganza this past weekend and I have to say it was pretty fun! We arrived a shadow past 5pm. Plenty of parking and plenty of food, but already a sizable crowd! I liked the idea of having the red buckets available for seating. Lots of people watching and food watching! If you are an indiscriminate eater and will try just about anything, this will be right up your alley. The sheer diversity of the cuisine is pretty overwhelming, and some of the food trucks are creative with their offerings. I don't know how those who are not picky can choose only one truck to eat from because there is so much that looks so good! If you come, bring an appetite! If you are picky or have dietary restrictions (i.e. if you are vegan), you will find overall that the options are more limited but you will likely find something. I personally would like to see a vegetarian/vegan truck included in this somewhere along the line and maybe one will since they rotate the vendors. I'm not holding my dietary restrictions against MF in my rating here since I am in the minority of eaters. I didn't eat much but I left very full. Very impressed with some of my food, not very impressed with other items I got. Opted to hit a few trucks and try small items. Maybe next time I will pick one and go all out. We brought cash but some trucks did accept cards. I think it goes without saying that you should come prepared to pay cash, but it is nice to know you may get lucky with a truck or two in case you blew your cash already but still want to eat. read more

I love everything about Moveable Feast, from how moveable it is to the feasting!!!! There's always an AMAZING selection of food trucks, all with incredible food. They bring out buckets for you to sit on, and supposedly they often have live music, although they didn't when we went last time. PLUS everyone brings their dogs, so it's like a massive restaurant with a thousand mindblowing entrees and puppies turning over for belly rubs all over the place. Rain or shine. All weather. For reals though. We went last night, they had fire heaters set near the bucket seats and tents for us to sit under. Luckily for us it didn't rain when we were feasting there. I love the moveable feast staff, always friendly and great for recommending dishes to us :) It wasn't crowded last night, I actually got to park near the trucks and not across the lot. The lines were short compared to warmer days. Dogs were out an about roaming with us. I enjoy doing things with pets including food! And of course all of the food helped us enjoy it more especially in the cold. Can't wait for the return of the food trucks! It's clean, its family & dog friendly. Their steamed Pork Belly Bao with pickled radish. OH-em-GEE is like the best creation in the food heavens! Soft warm buns... sweet and tart pickles and crispy, tender, fatty and juicy roasted pork. AND PARKING! the last few times I have gone to a moveable feast/ food truck dealio in SJ has been a cluster @#$# with long lines, cranky people and it wasn't worth it.. On a whim with Julie K we came here before the YEE last night.... Garlic Truck, WOW, Treatbot, Cajun, Sam's, Fairycakes, Mojo Burger, Peruvian truck, and a few others.. I finally got to try the Bao truck (or whatever they call themselves now)... I got the pork belly steamed (3.25). It was the perfect bite. The pickled veggie on top was perfect and the belly...well.. you can't really go wrong with pork belly. Overall delicious HOWEVER.. not worth the 3 hour wait I know some folks have waited in previous events. The Fairycakes.. I HEART dense cake.. nom nom nom nom nom nom. How did I not write a review for the "new" Willow Glen Moveable Feast? My bad. This is definitely the largest of the MF gatherings. The gatherings on Friday nights at the Curtner VTA parking lot usually have 12 or more trucks to satisfy. I always try to arrive as close to the 5:00 opening as possible, as I can't stand crowds. Typically, we leave w/in an hour and a half, but I have stayed longer, when I come with a larger group of people. It is definitely much more crowded from 7 o'clock on. Ryan & his crew continue to do a great job organizing food trucks to make it easier for foodies to have access to a variety of trucks in one, centralized location. read more

We stopped by yesterday around 5:00 and the lines were pretty short. We each got various items from different trucks to share. From Soulnese, we order garlic noodles with chicken, garlic pork fries, and lychee lemonade. I definitely recommend getting the fries. They're different from the usual garlic fries and the pork was delicious. I didn't think the garlic noodles had enough garlic flavor. But it was still really good. However, I was disappointed with the lychee lemonade. I expected more from it since they were trying to push their new drink to their customers. All it was is a lemonade with a single lychee floating on top. Overall though, their food was delicious. From Chairman Bao, we got the tender pork belly with tumeric pickled daikon and green shiso, both the baked version and steamed version. I thought it was really good. The buns were very flavorful and juicy. I would definitely go back for more soon. From Fairycake, we got strawberry dream and vanilla salted caramel cupcakes. Both were really good and moist. You even get to put your own sprinkles on your cupcakes. They leave a little station outside the truck with different colored sprinkles and a dispenser of milk for you to enjoy. I recommend going early to Moveable Feast in order to avoid the lines. I wanted to stop by Sam's Chowder but the line was super long and we were in a hurry. read more

An awesome collection of food trucks on a friday night. My hubby and I came to check it out. This is as close to a "night market" in the US as you can get. There's plenty of parking. There's chairs, tents and also sometimes little red pails that people can sit on to eat their food. I tried a Lomo Saltado burger from the Peruvian food truck. It was really good in a bun. Also had their passionfruit juice. My hubby got the baked pork belly bao from Chairman bao. The pork was delicious but overall was too greasy for my taste. The mini steamed bao's were a nice bite-sized appetizer. We debated going to Project Cupcake, but actually went for the mini pandan pancakes from omininjasj with coconut cream. I ended up getting the last one of the night. It was freshly made, smelled like Hong Kong egg pancakes, and were SO good with the coconut cream. Will definitely be coming back to try some of the other kinds of food! On average, dinner and dessert cost about $13 each. read more

A weekly food truck extravaganza Friday nights at the light rail station? Genius! I daresay that if such a thing existed where I live, I might even be inspired to take public transportation once a week. I had a chance to catch the first Moveable Feast event of the year on my last night in town. Crowds were light, and apparently the truck lineup was smaller than normal, too -- perhaps it was off of people's radar after a 2-week holiday hiatus, because it was a pleasant evening. Lucky me, I got to try a salty caramel cupcake without having to stand in line. Bummer for me, the turnip fritters were already sold out at 7:00. Oh, well -- I was able to enjoy a few street food bites for about $20 (not exactly street food prices, but it really is about the scene after all). Could I do this every week? Hard to say, I suppose it would depend upon the variety of trucks and how heinous it really gets when it is crowded ... but it was definitely worth checking out. read more

I'm a picky eater so it's hit or miss with me. They work with like 80 different food trucks. Of course they aren't going to have two types of food at an event. Everyone fancies food with pork like Chairman's Pork belly bao or lemongrass pork from the one pork truck. I don't eat pork and I'm still looking for my favorite food truck. Tried a slider, but I'm still not amazed by anything for a favorite yet. Seating is limited. It can get crowded. People come out with their own foldable chairs sometimes. read more

I love my food truck gatherings, and Moveable Feast did not disappoint! They have a great line-up of trucks every night, but I wish they kept their 'weekend guide' more updated to reflect the actual trucks that will be at each location. For example, I was expecting Treatbot to be one of the dessert trucks available at the Willow Glen location, but I arrived to find out that it had been replaced by Frozen Kuhstard instead. Since I was really looking forward to trying out Treatbot ice cream, it was definitely a let down. On the other hand, the Louisiana Territory truck was an unexpected surprise, and I ended up really enjoying my New Orleans Jambalaya. Yum! My only other complaint is that there should be a designated area for dog owners and their furry friends. I'm all for pet-friendly venues, but it was a little disconcerting to find a fine layer of dog hair covering our takeout containers and cups by the end of our meal. Anyhow, it gets pretty crowded around 7-8PM, so if you don't want to put up a fight for a seat, come early or do as others have done and bring your own tables/chairs. I, however, am a huge fan of the overturned buckets and balanced plank boards seating arrangement. It's the ultimate shabby chic! Also, if at all possible, come with a large enough group of friends so that you can fan out and hit all of the trucks at once. The wait time gets a little long, especially with the fried foods trucks. Overall, Moveable Feast made a great first impression. You betcha I'll be back! read more

Although I personally think food trucks are overpriced for what they are, I do enjoy supporting local businesses who are entrepreneurs, trying to make a living out of their passion. I have been to more Friday dinner Moveable Feasts on Curtner and Canoas Garden than I can count because it's super convenient to pop by after my workday is over just down the street, and it's always a great start to my weekend when I get the chance to go. It's super awesome that they send you a truck schedule for all their happenings at the beginning of the week (if you're on their email list) because sometimes there are nights I can stand to skip, and other nights MF is where it's at. There are specific trucks I will make the effort for solo, but really any night is a good time when you're going with a group as there are typically choices for everyone. I also appreciate that they have been branching out and doing more annual events like the Taco and Bacon festivals, because I think we can all agree that some weekends in San Jose could use a bit of livening up. They're also popping up at larger gatherings downtown, which is definitely good exposure for the trucks they spotlight in their line-up. The individual trucks featured on any given day are certainly responsible for the service and food they personally provide, but it's apparent that Moveable Feast as an organization does their best to ensure you have a good time at their events and curates an interesting and mostly diverse selection of vendors for their patrons to enjoy. Staff has been present at every event I've gone to and they've only ever been super helpful when myself or anyone in the group I'm attending with has a question. Keep it up! the world according to noelle ~2012~ Moveable Feast: Willow Glen was my first time going to a mass food truck dining experience. There was ample parking and lines moved rather quickly. We had food from the following: Chairman Bao, O Mi Ninja, WOW- Silog Truck. At Chairman Bao we had the baked pork bun which was delicious around $6 dollars and two steamed pork buns which were around $3 dollars a piece, the baked pork bun had more meat, the steamed pork buns had less meat, both sandwiches were delicious, meat was super tender and flavorful. My husband enjoyed the Lemon Grass Chicken Banh Mi from O Mi Ninja. The chicken was super moist flavorful, served up with sprouts, carrots on a freshly baked baguette. We also had tapa silog from the WOW Silog Truck. The tapa meat was grisly but the egg and garlic fried rice were amazingly delicious. We wanted to have Scoops (as we're fans of their ice cream) but the line was too long. We went over to the Project Cupcake truck to find out where the owner would be next (as she ran out of the cupcakes quickly)- she was unfriendly and said something to the fact that she was surprised to see that her cupcakes sold so quickly because she didn't think people in San Jose would spend much on cupcakes or food trucks in general, she always thought Los Altos was better than SJ but to her surprise the Moveable Feast in Willow was a great experience in cupcake sales. Due to this poor impression I definitely won't patronize her cupcake truck. Overall, all the food trucks were run by authentically friendly people serving delicious food. The one negative was the Project Cupcakes owner thinking people in the Willow Glen area of SJ wouldn't spend as much as the people in Los Altos- but I guess there are bad apples in every bunch and she was definitely one. I'm glad Moveable Feast Willow Glen was a success!!! Looking forward to more great eats!!! read more

The most brilliant of brilliant ideas. Why hasn't this idea been thought of ages ago? Collaborate with awesome food trucks, park them in a VTA lot and sell incredible food to food patrons everywhere?! It's kind of a great idea. Aside from following tweets and facebook statuses of well known food trucks in the bay area, I also watch the cooking channel (eat St.) and hear from others to learn more about these mobile food trucks. From a friend, I heard about the Chairman truck in SF. Following their facebook page, that led to knowing their location close to me in SJ. And in a VTA lot no less! From there, tons of food trucks offering a delectable variety from appetizers to desserts and everything in between. I had a chance to try the Taiwanese pork belly buns from Chairman. I have to say that it was not what I was expecting! I had low expectations but the bun blew me away. Far away. It was like I was in another realm of tasty food land. The flavors were intense, complimentary and intricate. I loved the savory sweetness of each bite. Devoured in three bites. Fab. Next on my list of to-try was the Grilled Cheese bandits. And seriously. That was just an amazing experience, in a very nostalgic sort of way. Their grilled cheeses are done up in a variety of ways with complimenting flavors to choose from. I also had a side of the mashed potato tots which were just incredible - mashed up tater tots molded into a ball, deep fried and rolled in sour cream and onion (or chives) powder. It tasted like Ruffles's in ball form. Really great. This truck served up some really awesome comfort food done in a spectacularly tasteful way. I would come back again and again. Patron for life. Five freaking stars Grilled Cheese Bandits. I should have ended my night with some ice cream or cupcakes but that is for another Friday night. read more

Randy, ADCE's managing group was very dissatisfied with the cupcake size we were served. ADCE purchased 300 $4.00 regular size cupcakes and what we received was 300 $2.00 mini cupcakes along with Shari's Cupcakes $300 Travel Expense Charge...What the heck? It was embarrassing when our Controller asked me why did we pay $1,200 for 300 mini cupcakes. I said misrepresentation on Moveable Feast part. (We paid 10% Management fee & 18% Service Fee, on top of a $1,400 per truck minimum I handed out exactly 250 tickets for each of the 3 food trucks and Rib Whip ran out of food. We paid for Andy, while he laid on the grass taking a nap. This event was not worth $8,045.00, no wonder you collect 50% deposit and balance prior to event...and again it is not common practice for caterers to collect full price prior to services being rendered. i love going to food truck feasts, b/c you have so many delicious options in one place and there is always something for everyone...meat lovers, vegetarians, sweet tooths, etc. last night was my 1st visit here, and i really enjoyed my initial visit. the 14 food trucks were lined up nicely in semi-circle formation, so it was very easy to browse menus and move from one truck to another. i also liked that they provided seating for their patrons (some food truck feasts do not). despite the large crowds (weather was fantastic yesterday), i found parking right away, as there was more than enough parking for everyone, just a few steps away from the food trucks. the location is great, just off 87 & curtner, in a large parking lot. on the other side of the lot, is the parking area for the curtner light rail station. i will definitely be back. read more

Thank you, Moveable Feast, for feasting us with like 10 food trucks every Friday night! So happy South Bay folks don't have to make a trek to San Francisco anymore! There is a variety of food trucks offering delicious goods including Filipino, Indian, Cajun, Peruvian, Korean, Chinese, grilled meats, cupcakes, coffee, and ice cream. I love that some all-time favorite food trucks return every week (Chairman, I'm talking about you!), but other ones are also on rotating so the options ever get dull. Folding chairs and red buckets are scattered about for your sitting pleasure. Several vertical heat lamps are also dispersed around to help keep you warm on chilly evenings. One little gripe: People! If there are three garbage containers sitting right next to each other, please check out the labels and correctly sort your waste - recyclables, compostables, and the rest of the stuff that goes to the landfill. Aluminum cans and plastic bottles are probably the most common recyclables from food trucks. Dirty paper trays, boxes, leftover food, napkins, and biodegradable utentils and cups are compostable. Straws and plastic utentils have a short life span and go directly to our landfills :( I know it gets dark out there so it's hard to see which garbage can is for what, but it was sad to see so much compostable products end up in the landfill container. I had to resist the urge to dumpster dive and correctly sort all that material! Lastly, I can't help but bring up land use planning... It's evident from the crowds that MVBL Feast is a place-maker. I applaude the use of a VTA light rail/park-and-ride lot for creating a pop-up community of good food and good company. I'm not sure how many people take the light rail here, but it's great that this transit option is so conveniently available. Moveable feast is just plain great. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Find out when it's closest to you, and GO! There is a great variety of food trucks (which I believe has a little bit of variance) and all of them offer a ton of cool unique stuff to try. Go with a group and share stuff from as many trucks as possible. If you've never eaten modern food truck fare, you've got to give it a try. What they do (generally speaking) is specialize in a specific type of food, so their menus are generally high in quality, not quantity of options. In my opinion, that's the way to do it. Make what you're awesome at making! My favorite food trucks of the night were The Chairman (pork belly bun!), Porky's (Lemongrass pork taco! Sizzle Dizzle Chicken!) and the Treat Bot (delicious ice cream!). Get yourself out there ASAP. read more

Ahhh...i love moveable feast. It was definitely a fun experience. The food trucks that I love are all in one place (except for CurryItUp, which I hope I will sometime). I do have to admit that the lines get pretty long, but the food is definitely worth it. I plan on coming back here again. I will keep in mind to come with a group of ppl so I can try EVERYTHING. =) read more

This experience was awesome. I have always been skepitcal about eating from a moving car where they make your food (um hello, paranoid mother), but if my fellow Yelp friends love it, then I guess it is safe to try it. And I am so glad that I did! I went with the grilled cheese truck, added some cheeses and a Pellegrino blood orange soda, and I was set. I will say that these trucks lost 1 star due to how expensive it is! I get that this is an experience too, but I could make a grilled cheese at home. Or I can find a BBQ place to eat at, with some times bigger portions for the same price. Do not get mad at me, I loved what they had, a little of everything, the BBQ looked amazing! but I do think it is overpriced. Anyways, on to the food!! My BFF got some chicken fingers and her fries, THE FRIES, had cheddar powder on top of it! Who does that!? Americans, that is who! And they were amazing! I will have to get that next time. Others in our group got chicken and waffles, some sort of peeled meat BBQ which was good, and a kids chicken fingers with a side of vegetables. They also had Indian curry, Korean BBQ, Mexican, Fish and Chips, which also had my next choice lobster rolls. For half a roll it was 7 something? And the full roll is 17 bucks. About two American style BBQs, cupcakes and treabot ice cream. Definitely try it once to see if this is for you! read more
