Sammy's Stack House is an American, family restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I stopped by on a Sunday morning around 10am for breakfast. We were a party of 4, and waited 35 minutes to be seated. The service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive, making sure our coffee cups were full. The menu was full of great sounding food! It has your typical American breakfast plates ranging from savory options like egg combination plates (country fried steak, corned beef hash, steak, etc) and omelettes to sweet options such as pancakes, waffles, french toast, and crepes. I ordered Sammy's Eggs & Toast Breakfast that came with 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, country potatoes, and fruit. I tasted the blueberry pancakes and sweet cream cheese crepes. Both were delicious and the perfect amount of sweet! Everyone was satisfied with their food. The plates were fairly priced (average $10) for the quantity of food served. I was impressed with my first visit to Sammy's, and will definitely be back. My boyfriend's parents visit every Sunday and I now understand why! read more

Wow...I have been wanting to try this since moving to the OC. I finally got to try out their breakfast this past weekend. Great service that is prompt and the waitress was very sweet and ensured we were satisfied. I ordered the pancake meal that comes with two pancakes, 2 eggs (any style), hash browns, and sausage/bacon. I got the New York Cheesecake pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and 2 sausage links. It was delicious although I didn't taste the cheesecake till I was about finished but it was still delicious. I was definitely satisfied. How does this place have such great reviews? I'm baffled. If I had to just base this on our server Rocio I would give her 5 stars. She was very nice and helpful. Here is the biggest problem. There was a dead FLY cooked into my husband's pancakes. He didn't find it until he was cutting them about to eat them. I took them back in and the manager told me it came from outside...... insinuating that it must have flown into the pancake after it was cut, crawled in and died after it was brought to the table. The nerve. I wish I had taken a pic before but I was so appalled I rushed back in and gave it back to them. They rushed his new order of pancakes and his were gummy nearly raw in some parts. Mine were perfect and the only highlight of my meal. I got the chopped sirloin and eggs. I'm expecting fresh, savory steak. Nope it is pre-made, chewy and inside of some sweet sauce. It wasn't pleasant. I asked for just turkey bacon instead. It was the extremely cheap, thin kind like the Jennie-O brand. *Deep sigh* I guess my brunch standards are just too high. Sammy's is located in Orange off of Tustin street. From the outside it looks like a small hole in the wall diner but don't let that fool you! The menu is SERIOUSLY extensive- I was overwhelmed because I wanted to order so many dishes from breakfast, lunch to dinner! I dined, Sunday 6/7, post covid re-opening. I appreciated the safety precautions from requiring a face mask upon entering, social distance markers and disposable menus. All employees were wearing masks and we were seated right away upon arrival around 12:30 pm. We did not have reservations so they are not required. Sammy's is known for breakfast so I we opted for breakfast for our first time, but will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner dishes. I appreciated upon close out that the receipt included a 10% off coupon for next dine in, so save your receipt! Ok onto the food!! I ordered the meat lovers omelette for $14.99 and it was delicious. They did not skimp on the bacon or the sausage which was a plus and loved the bell pepper which gave it a little kick. The omelettes come with a side of potatoes (hash brown or country potatoes) along with a side of pancakes. All sides were plentiful and well done. My hunny got the french toast combo which was HUGE. Only ding is that the menu said the french toast comes with six pieces and he only got four so he was a little bummed since he has an appetite, lol. However, he loved the country potatoes and thought everything was done well. Overall, we were impressed for our first dine in. Kudos to the Sammy's team for great service. All the waitresses were friendly, quick and attentive. The diner was clean and gave off a cozy, old school diner vibe. I loved it and will be back! Nice thing about this diner is that it is open on the later end until 9 pm so you can fill that breakfast craving later on in the evening too! read more

Found this place on Yelp because all the brunch and breakfast restaurants in Irvine had a 3 hour wait and my partner and I were looking to get seated right away. Thankfully, we gave them a call and were told that we could be seated immediately when we arrive! Parking lot was a little small considering how busy it was and we had to find parking on a residential street just past the restaurant. We walked in and the place seemed very popular and just like we were told when we called, we were seated immediately! I ordered the build your own pancakes with 2 chocolate chip pancakes egg, over easy eggs, crispy hash browns, bacon and added 2 sausage links. Our server Jacky was very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the T-bone steak being a little too undercooked so we requested it be cooked a bit longer and she took care of it nicely. The pancakes tasted amazing! I definitely recommend the chocolate chip pancakes for chocolate lovers! The rest of the food was not noteworthy enough to mention but definitely filled me up and was enjoyable enough to get no complaints from me! Overall, I had a pretty good experience at Sammy's Stack House! I grade the food a 7/10 and the service 8/10. Definitely worth the value considering what we were looking for! read more

Went tonight to have dinner and was greeted by a wonderful young lady named Hope. She sat the 5 of us right away and took our orders . Kept checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. This young lady has the best personality and is the sweetest. I wish there were more waitresses like her she made our night and we will definitely go back. read more

My husband and I did not have a good experience here unfortunately :( Our server was Elizabeth & we waited a while to be greeted and once she did, we weren't greeted properly... she said "What can I get you?" ...... no "hello how are you?" Or "Thank you for waiting!" Or "welcome" or anything of that sort! We ordered our food and drinks, not once did she offer us any refills, my husband had to wave her down for more water, she brings a water pitcher fills up my husbands water cup and doesn't even bother to offer to fill up my empty water glass. And then we get our food and my hash browns are all burnt, couldn't even eat them. My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and it had NO cheese! Won't ever come back! read more

Wow. We used to love this place and came here every month or so. Sometimes we would even get takeout and it was always spot on. A few moths ago my boyfriend called in an order for breakfast for our family. They say it'll be 10 - 20 minutes. He heads over there and arrives around 25 minutes later. He checks in, gives his name (that's on the order) and one of the waitresses says it'll be just a minute. He's a really patient guy and can see that they're busy. He doesn't even care the food isn't ready yet. But then 20 minutes go by and he decided to check in and then they try to give him a take out order that has been sitting there THE ENTIRE TIME. They accuse him of not checking in and try to blame him, someone tries to blame the waitress and then it seemed like they tried to blame the cook. The manager sees all of these, none of the waitresses want to take responsibility, and the cashier just kept trying to get him to pay $46. My boyfriend says he is not paying for cold food, then the waitresses BLATANTLY TRIES TO LIE TO HIS FACE and says that's it's not cold, it just came out. My boyfriend feels insulted, and tells them he's seen that bag sitting there the entire time he's been here. The manager literally saw everything and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No one took responsibility, no one offered to recook our food, no one offered us a discount*, and lastly NO ONE APOLOGIZED. *the manager did point out the 10% off your order on the receipt for your next order THAT EVERYONE gets, which we know because we've been there so many time Forget this place, we're definitely not coming back read more

6/23/22: Drove past, after a Kaiser appointment. I made my hubby double back. We walked in to Oldie music (which I enjoy). Sammy's felt very homey & the menu had many of my favorites. I wanted coffee & breakfast. I didn't order anything fancy but happy to say it was cooked perfect & delicious! Our waitress Kate was exceptionally nice & pleasant to talk to. I must say, although we aren't from the area, we'll definitely be return customers. Sammy's offers a good variety of beers & has wine. Next visit will be to have dinner. This place when you drive past it looks small but omg the food is amazing! My daughter and I come here often the owner told me they are always opened even on holidays. This is where we had our Christmas dinner. I ordered Sammy's chicken and waffles. WOW! The chicken was crispy on the outside and very juicy in the inside. I would say the waffles could be warmed up more. I've been here before and I absolutely love their pancakes!!! I've been here before and the food has been phenomenal but this last time it was very disappointing. First off I want to praise the waitresses. They do an amazing job. The food not so great this last time around. My girlfriend had Sunny's side up eggs and gluten free pancakes. The pancakes were great but one of the eggs was undercooked. I told her not to eat it, so she ate the other egg but felt nauseous the rest of the day. It looks like they cooked the eggs in too much heat and while the bottom got cooked alright, the top did not get enough heat to cook correctly. This is rushing on the kitchen stAff. My meal could have been better. I got ham and cheese omelette, potatoes and pancakes. Unfortunately everything I got was bland. I drowned my eggs in salsa so they would taste good. The potatoes had not salt at all. No flavor again. And the pancakes had a doughy taste. That's the only way I can describe them. They were not right. I think they might have had an off day or something. Other times I've been here the food has been great. I hope they take this criticism and fix some of the issues I listed. read more

Menu is extensive, but my favorite items of theirs are from the breakfast menu. I recently ordered online for take out/pick-up. Food was delicious, warm, and all the 6 Dishes I ordered for my family were correct. It would be nice if option to pay online was also available so that we would not have to pay inside and touch the pen or keypad. I liked how my order was ready to go and correct. The groups of people waiting to be seated had to wait outside by the front door and not inside by cashier area, however I still had to walk around all of these groups of people standing by the front door on my way to pay inside for my take-out order. Maybe if they formed a line to the side of the front door, it would be safer for us just going in to pay for our take out. Again, breakfast food is delicious and I would order again. We ordered veggie omelet with hash browns and pancakes and it was cooked perfectly. The French Toast combo with hash browns was yummy. Great a French toast! We also ordered a few plates of regular pancakes and they were so fluffy. Some of the best fluffy regular pancakes. Their classic Turkey club sandwich with steak fries is also very good. read more

Been a couple years since my last review and I have to say, I continue to be a fan. They seemed to have tweaked their recipes enough to make it there own. This is a nice change since they took over from iHop and felt like they were almost just copying their menu. Every time we've gone, the service is polite and efficient. We've tried a mix-mash of food and never had a bad meal. For an older building, it still feel clean inside. If you're looking for a descent family restaurant that's not Denny's check out Sammy's. I'd ask for all dark meat on another visit. Overall, it was good. The waffles are warm and crisp. It was my little one's birthday and she wanted this for her birthday dinner. Hot Chocolate-Good. It's also flavored with a slight dash of cinnamon. Service was excellent! Our hosts were attentive and accommodating. This used to be a iHop. I personally appreciated feeling like my business was appreciated and it felt more like a small town breakfast joint than anything. The price is reasonable. We lunched at Sammy's on Christmas Day and I was really surprised how busy it was on the holiday! The food was surprisingly really good for a little pancake house. And plentiful! We barely had enough room for our entrees and pancakes and toast and fruit and drinks. I had the chicken omelette (sans meat as a vegetarian option). I have to say - it was really good! The sautéed onions and peppers had a ton of flavor, along with plenty of cheese, avocado and sour cream. The salsa was delicious. Hash browns were perfectly crispy too. With a giant hot chocolate, our brunch was a perfect holiday treat. Service was amazing. The host was informative and apologetic for the party before us, which hogged a large table for long time. Tried this place for dinner and was very happy. Granted, the prices are a bit steeper than they should be, but that is the case everywhere. We both had breakfast: pancakes are super delicious and light, EXCELLENT!!! Son had Corned Beef Hash with all the trimmings and said it was great. Was craving a huge stack of pancakes all week so we decided to check this place out for my cheat meal. The reviews were good so we came here for a late lunch. When we walked in, I immediately felt like I was walking into an IHOP. This layout was exactly like the last 2 IHOP locations I've been too. Needless to say I wasn't expecting much from the food. Upfront, the workers here are super nice. Very friendly, attentive, and provided great service. They took our order fairly quickly. We ordered the strawberry and banana pancake combo, with Nutella added in. We also got the berry waffle meal. When the food came out I was blown away. The sizes were fantastic for the price. Moreover, the presentation was fantastic, it was a work of art. Lastly, the taste was phenomenal. My banana, strawberry, and Nutella pancake was probably the best I've ever had. All I can say is wow, just found this place a few weeks ago, when I first tried it thought it must have been a fluke, but no. After coming here ver the course of a couple months the food is consistently great, service is always with a smile, only issue is the size of the parking lot. It can fill before the restaurant, but then it seems there are enough local regulars to finish filling the place. So, are you tired of the hop pancakes? I've had Sammy's in the past and have been happy with the food, especially the pancakes. My husband usually orders a short stack for me and brings it home. Today was different... he brought home the short stack and when I tasted them and they tasted sour. When I went to check the others my finger went through the pancake and pancake batter was on it... the pancakes were very raw. I've never received pancakes raw before but I'm sure that's why they tasted so sour... My husband then called them to let them know that we were frequent customers and that when we got the pancakes home they were raw and sour the guy from Sammy's said "oh I'm sorry, but you're going to have to call the factory if you have a complaint" whaaat!? What factory? We just called to inform them that the pancakes were sour and raw but ok... I'm very disappointed in the lack of care they showed. read more

First time at Sammy's Stackhouse. The fried chicken was the best! Very crispy outer skin and juicy, flavorful and moist on the inside. Waffles could have been a bit crisper but the chicken made up for it. The country fried steak was also very tasty. Perfect amount of gravy. read more

Came here at 12:00 on a Sunday. Absolutely zero parking...the food was comparable to any Denny's.. but the worst part is, everything on the menu is over $15! For eggs and toast?? C'mon Sammy. That's highway robbery. At least fill my plate up with a bunch of potatoes instead of one layer of them spread on half the plate. I know potatoes are pretty inexpensive. read more
