I jumped on my trusty Yelp app and looked up bakeries and found Poppy's Bakery in Frankfort. I've been to Frankfort numerous times; but, had never taken a drive down that road. I am so glad I tried Poppy's out. From the moment I got out of my car I could smell the fresh baked goodies. One word.....heavenly. The lady working was so patient with me after I told her this was my first visit. Everything looked so delicious. I chose an assortment or cinnamon rolls, raspberry filled donuts, cheese danish and cherry cream Cheese danish. When I say this was the best danish Ive ever had I mean it! The danishes almost had a brûléed texture. One bite into that initial crunch then sweet, pillowy dough. My heavens...I'll be going there plenty. My friend & I signed up for the Intro to Yeast Baking class and I learned so much. The Kentucky Millstone is located in Butler, Kentucky. Chef Lori taught our class and was she a breath of fresh air. Excellent teacher and so nice. They have a multitude of classes to choose from as well as artisanal baked goods with ingredients from local farms. We got to taste the goodies we made and take home not only so many delicious baked masterpieces; but, an entire batch of dough to make even more delectables at home.
