My children and I adore Sammy's house. We feel very fortunate to have found Sammys at a time when we needed care, stability, and assistance most. We started as Sammys when my Oldest was 1 and she recently graduated from pre-k at Sammy's, my son attended from 8 months- 3 years and my youngest daughter was in excellent care from 3-18 months. Sammy's staff are incredibly professional, nurturing, patient and engaged. Not to mention, there's obvious diversity in their staffing and that is so beautiful to see! Miss Isabel has created a place for children of all abilities to be seen, loved, and accepted. I don't typically do reviews, but I must warn whoever I can. If the new Youth Director is still there, run, do not walk, run away from that place. Not only is she dishonest, she is unethical to say the least. She has people who do not work for the company, nor has any affiliation with the company to lie and and create "false" reviews for her on Google. From telling staff to not put anything in writing to flat out dishonesty about injuries in the classroom and telling staff not to tell parents. She is a liability waiting to happen. The Youth Director lied about her experience, only to find out she has NEVER been a Director, she stated that she came from Texas Rising Star; eyebrow raise number two. For the school to lose all of their stars under her is quite telling. It's not the Executive Director's fault, she was mislead. I understand that we as parents of special needs children want our children to be in the safest place possible, but if the top isn't creating a safe place, it's impossible to trickle down! read more

I'm Pre-K teacher at Sammy's House and I love the relationships I have built with my kiddos. Some of them have been at Sammy's House since they were infants and are now getting ready to go to Kindergarten! It is amazing to know their parents are happy with the care they receive at Sammy's House. For me it has been great place to experience and learn to work with kids that are typical while also having inclusivity for the kiddos that have special needs. read more

Update: I see several bad reviews in a row, two on the same day but under different names, all of which occurred right after a bad employee left Sammy's House. Very suspicious. All I can say is, yes, there is the occasional bad teacher that gets hired. They don't last very long. I can honestly say that I have been involved with Sammy's House for over a decade and I stand by my earlier review. You'll never find a better place for your child. It's a non-profit, so you know that the primary motivator is love for the students. The number of children in every class is very small. The teachers focus on each child's individual needs and don't have the "we are teaching this today, so keep up" mentality that many schools have. They also offer "respite days" on many Saturdays, where parents can leave their children in a great environment while they go take care of personal needs that can't be done during the work week. read more

Please do not enroll your child here. My son was enrolled here for over a year and the entire time there was constant teacher turnover. The issue comes from the top, even the great teachers burn out and leave quickly because of the way they are treated. Any concerns you bring to the Executive Director will just be met with excuses and no apologies or solutions. My disabled son was left on play equipment without supervision on two occasions that caused injuries to his face, one incident was so bad it caused him to lose a tooth. The building is filthy and my crawling son would often come home with completely black hands and knees and was constantly sick. Incorrect medical diagnoses were listed on our paperwork and when I brought that to the attention of the Executive Director her solution was to just blame it on an employee that was no longer there and try to hide the evidence by grabbing the document from my hand to erase it. I've known of multiple employees that did not have a background check on file because that would have made them ineligible for employment at a daycare. I could go on and on about all the many issues with this place but the bottom line is, do not enroll your child here! read more

A sinking ship for prospective parents and employees. From what I understand, this place was founded on and earned a reputation for its dedication to special needs children regardless of ability to pay. Unfortunately, this is not the same institution that earned those accolades. The agency has been struggling to reinvent itself in the midst of the changes that Covid and a shortage of minimum wage workers have wrought. This and the fact that the director has fired at least 5 employees in one summer lead to constant understaffing issues that hurt the remaining staff and most of all the children. The children are crowded in classrooms above the claimed teacher-student ratio, and get less attention and care as a result. Teachers are untrained in an effort to put adult bodies in a room, as well as not given time to plan schedules or create curriculum, so children are bored and learning very little. The classrooms are disorganized and unclean, in one case there is no running water in a classroom expected to provide diaper changes and potty training, and other rooms have strange smells that resemble mold and mildew. The lack of time due to the understaffing means that the staff is forced to cut corners when cleaning and children are often playing on surfaces where food waste and human waste have barely been wiped away. It saddens me that a place that has so much potential to serve special needs families is facing so many problems. This agency needs more accountability and needs to be honest about the problems it is facing so that they can be solved rather than struggling to stay afloat at the expense of the families they serve. read more

My daughter has been at Sammys for year and has been in the Toddler 2 as well as Pre-K class. WE LOVE SAMMYS! The level of care, warmth, and communication is unmatched. Her teachers are not just doing the bare minimum. They really care about these kids on a personal level. Before Sammy's I thought my daughter had separation anxiety, but that has never been an issue at Sammy's. NOT EVEN ON DAY ONE! I realize now, she didn't want to go to her previous daycare and now she's pushing me out the door in the morning. Then, she continues to talk about her teacher and friends at home! She can barely wait for weekends to end. lol She's just genuinely excited to see her teachers and friends in an environment that keeps her growing. I am so thankful we found Sammy's. It's very rare to find a place that feels like an extension of your family but we found that here. read more

do not enroll your child here. the place is a mess, everything is unorganized, I pulled my child out after five minutes here due to safety concerns with the POOL after being told she would be supervised by a director. I'm still waiting on a refund as we speak. it's concerning that parents would send their children here. read more

Sammy's House is a great choice for a loving and caring environment. The teachers are above and beyond most places I have been to. They cater to the children's needs and work with you to give your child the best possible attention and love. Special needs care is the place to be which is here. Therapists are also welcomed to incorporate in the day, which is a must for my son. My son has a g tube, and no other regular daycare would take him, but Sammy's welcomed him with open arms. It was a godsend as I was worn out taking care of my son by myself full time, so was a blessing to get some help and not have to worry about his needs. read more

Sammy's House has been a God send for my twins, one of which has Autism. We were kicked out of 3 other day cares for his Autism related behavior,but Sammy's House was wiling to work with him and help him to learn social cues. They allowed his therapists into their facility and used some of those techniques to help him in the classroom setting. My boys love Sammy's House and their teacher, Ms. Brittany. read more

You won't find a better daycare in Austin. They really love on your kids. My son has moved to elementary school and still talks about his old teachers and friends here. They have a pool for the summer and do lots of creative/sensory play activities. He was very engaged and learned so much. We also loved the small class sizes and large classrooms. Oh, and amazing field trips! One of the most important things my son learned here was to have empathy and compassion for all people. We can't wait to send another kiddo here! read more

My son has been attending Sammy's House for several years and I honestly don't know how my family would have survived without them. They provide amazing care for my special needs child, when other day care options turned him away, Sammy's House never hesitated to take him in. Sammy's house also provides respite care on some weekends, which is an amazing resource that allows me to run errands and have a break a few hours which is really nice. I do not know much about other daycares because the moment I walked into Sammy's house I was sold. My daughter is special needs and Sammy's house knows how to care for her every need. The teachers are AMAZING and really love their jobs. Like us they celebrate every milestone. Not only does Sammy's house specialize in special needs children but they also do inclusion in every class so each child can learn from one another. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. The staff puts a lot of dedication into providing an inclusive environment for special children. The curriculum is stimulating for all children, whether traditionally developed or special needs. Price is not an issue as I find the cost below other centers. You won't find a more caring and dedicated group of people to take care of your children! My kids attended Sammy's House and we still volunteer with them and attend fundraisers. Having a special needs child, I felt completely confident in the care and education they provided.
