I never thought I would be a working mom who had no choice but to drop their babies off at daycare. I was lucky enough to have a stay-at-home mom until I was kindergarten age, and I highly value the amount of love, security, closeness and comfort I had staying at home. Needless to say, finding a daycare for my two kids (3yo & 5mo) was extremely difficult with feelings of guilt, distrust and insecurity to name a few. Since my kids have been at Stepping Stone, I have grown to not only trust Stepping Stone's faculty and staff... I absolutely adore them! My 3 year old had a really hard time transitioning, but the staff's patience, understanding and empathy toward him truly showed me how much they cared about making him feel comfortable, welcome and included. I love how often they send me pictures throughout the day and how happy my littles are when coming home. I don't at all feel like I'm doing my kids some type of injustice by going to daycare, instead, I feel like the diversity in this environment is enriching their childhood more than I could be at home while trying to work. The teachers really care about the children and it shows when my baby smiles and interacts with them at drop-off and throughout the day. What I appreciate the most is the communication between parents and teachers/Director-at drop off and pick up, it is nice to hear how my child acts during the day and how he did in the class, what he likes, what foods he is interested in, what his new behaviors are, etc...it means a lot that the teachers take the time to share those things with me. Receiving pictures throughout the day is wonderful too. The baby rooms are open and bright and kept as clean as possible. But the team at SS Pflugerville put me at ease immediately, and we've been so happy with the communication and care from everyone there. More importantly, my *son* has been so happy to be there! We recently transferred to this location in August after moving and have been thrilled with our child's development and progress. Miss Brenda, the principal has been wonderful to work with and helped us make a smooth transition. There are also 3 incredible teachers, Miss Lisa, Miss Naya, and Miss Daija, that have made sure our child was cared for from the beginning. Before starting here, our little was struggling with potty training and at school would dig into diaper because there were so many kids our little could go unnoticed. Since being here these teachers have helped our child become more independent and potty training behavior has improved. My 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter attend this location and they love it! They've both grown so much developmentally since being emerged in Stepping Stone's curriculum. Marissa and Brenda (the principle and vice principal) are great! They always have time for any questions you might have. I also appreciate that there are no set times for drop off and pick up. It makes life easier whenever the mornings get crazy, and gives me the assurance that even if I come early and at an unexpected time for pick up I'll always see my kids safe and having a great time. My two daughters attend the Pflugerville Stepping Stone School. One is in the infant class & one is in the kinder-prep program. We transferred here about 3 moafter having a bad experience at another school & could not be happier with our choice! Both of my girls are thriving & there are no tears at drop-off. The school is CLEAN! They offer healthy snacks & lunch (they even offer a modified menu for vegetarians!). The teachers & staff are all so kind & it's obvious they love their jobs & love the kids. They send me pictures & videos throughout the day & a report at the end of the day with details of what they ate & their activities for the day. I would highly recommend this school! It's a huge relief knowing your kiddos are in such good hands & being well taken care of while you have to be away. **UPDATE 4/10/2020 I unfortunately was laid-off about a month ago due to the covid-19 pandemic & could no longer afford school tuition. I was so stressed & worried that if I pulled my girls from school we would lose their spots. I spoke to Miss Brenda about our situation & she worked with me to freeze our tuition & hold the girls spots until I am able to go back to work. I CANNOT tell you how thankful I am for this! My daughter started here at 7 or 8 weeks and we have used them ever since. She is 2 and a half years old now, and she loves going to school every day! The teachers are wonderful, and I think that starts with the principal, Ms. Stephanie. She is always leading the way to make sure the kids and parents feel welcome and are genuinely supported. The teachers follow suit, and as my daughter has advanced through the classes each one has been amazing. Even the teachers of the older classes know my daughter (and all the kids) which is comforting as she continues to advance. There are always themed events going on, too, that extend that family/friendly atmosphere to the parents. Its always a treat to be able to talk with parents of classmates at these events, while also watching the kids play and interact. The curriculum has been top-notch, even at the earliest levels. I have been amazed at how fast my daughter as learned things, not only education-wise but also socially. They even supported our desire to start potty training really early. They have also invested a lot into campus improvements, recently re-scaping their entire playground from gravel to synthetic grass (the high quality stuff!) They utilize Tadpoles, an email/app system to provide updates on your child throughout the day, including pictures and videos. They also have a key coded entry, security cameras in all rooms, and follow the proper state regulations for drop off and pick up procedures (I checked deep on this, as that was my top item when looking for a school). I would close by saying you are doing yourself a disservice if you are looking for a preschool (this is more than just a daycare for sure) and you don't stop in to at least tour this school and visit with Ms. Stephanie! read more

Very unsafe daycare. They were placing my infant on her stomach to sleep when she hasn't learned to roll yet. She came home with highlighter on her face. Older kids were running in and out of the room. The principle never responds to email. They let the kids sleep in chairs at an angle. They were putting my infant in someone else's crib to stare at pictures of someone else's parents. The day care teachers were cussing in videos that they sent to me. Daycare admitted to all of the violations of safety that they were doing. read more

I wanted to update my review. Stepping stone has been our go to place since our now almost 8 yr old daughter has gone since she was 2. We love their curriculum. Ms Stephanie the principle of the wells branch location is the first principle, they have had that has been around for a long time and actually likes her job. She is so nice and cares so much for the kids, it shows. Ms Hiliary-the afternoon teacher for the kids for the after care program is amazing. She is a certified teacher and it shows. She is amazing and excellent with the afternoon class. I have not seen my daughter's kinder or first grade teacher have their class that well controlled like Ms Hiliary has. My son has been attending the Pflugerville Stepping Stone School for 5 years now. He started in the pre-k program and is now in the school age program. Marissa, Brenda (the principal and vice-principal) and school aged staff are just so awesome! They are extremely helpful and always available to talk to when you need them. Through the years I've always felt that my son was in a very caring, safe and trusted environment at Stepping Stone and as a parent, I've extremely thankful to the staff for that!!! My toddler went here for about a month and I took her out after repeatedly noticing things I didn't like. They move children to different classrooms mornings and afternoons. I didn't learn who her teachers were because they switched so much. Routine is so important to kids to feel secure and familiar. My child looked dirty almost every time I picked her up. She was always losing little things like her hair bows etc. One day they told me verbally that she hardly took a nap but their daily log said she took a nap for 2.5 hours? The director wasn't always available when I wanted to ask something, I didn't find her very friendly. I wanted to keep trying to like this place bec the location was convenient but when I saw the teacher gave my child a pacifier that was not hers just to keep her quiet, that was it for me. read more

Leaving my boys at pre school all day was a tough transition for our family, but the teachers and staff have always gone above and beyond to make my boys feel comfortable, secure , and loved. My children are always excited to show me the things they have done and talk about the new things they've learned and it's amazing to witness how much they have learned in such a short time. The teachers and staff are always communicating with us with daily and weekly progress reports, and I love receiving emails and pictures throughout the day of my children participating in activities. I have to start this review by stating my views of daycare aren't quite optimistic. I understand a lot of bad things can happen. I searched everywhere for a daycare and settled for this specific Stepping Stone location after reading some decent reviews. I have been very pleased. How the principal runs the daycare is the biggest indicator of how the staff will treat the children. Brenda is amazing! I haven't had much interaction with my son's teacher due to my schedule, but any concerns I have had are addressed immediately. When I felt my son needed extra attention while being sick, my request was acted on. This was very pleasing. My son has adapted and enjoys playing. I get a picture everyday of him and it's so reassuring that he is doing fine at daycare. Of course no daycare is perfect. The 2 flaws I noticed are that the communication isn't the best. I've let everyone know to contact me by phone or email for absolute anything, but it doesn't happen. If I happen to forget to leave diapers, or if my husband never brought the nap sheet and blanket for nap time. we are never made aware. I have no clue what the daycare does in these scenarios. The other flaw is me never knowing which teacher my son is with. On the days my schedule permits me to pick up my son instead of his dad, it seems there is a different teacher in his room, or he's in another classroom. I hardly ever see him with his actual teacher This may be more of a preference than an actual flaw. Just my opinion. read more

Our kids have been going to this school for over a year. They are great. They have been attentive to our concerns and very understanding. They have been nothing but positive when our kids were going through that difficult potty training period. We get daily updates and photos of our kids engaged in activities and crafts. They also get plenty of play time outside. Our kids come home very happy. What I like about this location (and the parmer lane location) is the school is away from busy traffic. My daughter started here as an infant at 7 weeks old. There is nothing more nerve racking than sending your newborn off during the day 5 days a week. The teachers at Stepping Stone Wells Branch are amazing and quickly assured me that I have nothing to worry about. My daughter is now 18 months old and she loves it there. Most of the time she is running out the door so excited to go to school. The principal, Stephanie, and my daughter's main teacher, Brenda, are amazing! They love her so much and genuinely want the kids to develop and succeed. I am sad that I am moving to Leander this summer. We enrolled our daughter here when we first moved to Texas about a year ago and it truly made the transition easier on all of us. She fell in love with the school and the teachers immediately and I can see why. There's always a friendly face to welcome you when you walk in the door and the grounds are kept in great condition. I must agree. The people who own this daycare just don't get it. We pay thousands of dollars and -- imagine this! -- we actually care who handles our child all day! The place is staffed by temps who come and go like the wind, so it's always a guessing game what new employee will have complete control over your child that day. read more

When I first brought my 3 month old son to this daycare, all was well. There was a 5 year veteran in the baby room who was great. Shortly after our enrollment, however, she retired and the other care taker quit and then the string of replacements began. Only one remained constant after that (who was wonderful by the way), but she has left as well (luckily after my son moved up to the next room). The issue continued into the second classroom, where there has been no teacher that has stayed longer than a couple months (unless the one who just went part time actually decides to stay), some less than a month. Although there have been a couple good teachers, it is not worth the stress of having to retrain a new teacher and more importantly, having my son not want to go to daycare because he doesn't know his teacher. My son has had 12 teachers in 12 months. If you are considering this daycare, I suggest you have alternatives already researched and be prepared to switch if this school does not change it's retention policies and continues to have high turnover in the infant/toddler rooms. read more

I'm pretty sure all parents can agree that feeling confident that your child is safe and well cared for when you can't be with them is the top priority when choosing a childcare facility. The Wells Branch campus of Stepping Stone School has provided that and more in the 2 years since I enrolled my son, when he was 3. I admit that there have been a couple of bumps in the road along the way (nobody can be perfect all the time), but the administrators at the main campus have always been responsive to feedback and ensured that issues were discussed, addressed and resolved. One standout teacher who I believe deserves some serious recognition - for being a constant positive presence throughout our time at Stepping Stone, even when she wasn't my son's main teacher - is the "Readers" advanced pre-K teacher, Ms. Jennifer. She clearly genuinely cares about all of the kids at the school. She does an amazing job teaching and comes up with great activities to reinforce what the kids are learning. I am frequently pleasantly surprised by the things that my son tells me when I ask him about his day at school. I have the utmost respect for her ability to engage my son in a way that has made him truly enjoy learning. I couldn't be happier that she is my son's teacher - now, if only we could take her along when my son head off to kindergarten! read more

Wished I could give 0 stars!!! My son was in this location for almost over a month and fell sick right away. I have repeatedly told the director/principal as well as teacher than its cold and kids are falling sick and they should raise the heat a bit. But no luck. Teachers were not experienced at all. It looks like they were some helpers who were managing the rooms. When i gave them 1 month notice and went to pick up my kids stuff, guess what, they lost all his stuff which was worth $100. When asked to refund me the same, principal kept saying she has contacted the head and that person is out of station. Very very unprofessional. I still get tuition fees reminder even after 4 months we have stopped going there. When told about the same, they said "please ignore this we have removed you from our system" but i still get those emails. Rooms are very unhygienic and kids are always sick. I didnt see any kid there to be happy. Helpers/"teachers" dont even care/bother to clean the kids ( wipe kids nosey ). Very very disappointed with Stepping Stone. I dont mind keeping my kid at home than sending him to this unprofessional, unfriendly, unhygienic school. read more

We send our kids to daycare for quality teachers and consistent care. During our five years at this location, we've seen the best teachers treated with complete lack of respect. The management (main office) seems to think all teachers are the same, from new hires to great professionals. We've been through so many site directors I can't count them. When we talk to them, they always respond that their hands are tied because all the power resides in the distant "main office." In addition to turnover, there's chronic under-staffing, which leads to frequent shuffles (even throughout a single day), so you never know who'll be in what classroom. It's a good site, and there are good standards in place, but when you don't recognize the workers from day to day, it really makes you hesitate to leave your children there. read more

This school is the best! My son was at home with Grandma for the first two years and I was very concerned about his transition. The staff at Wells Branch allowed me to drop in for visits to help him get comfortable, without notice mind you. Ms. Stephanie always welcomed me in and patiently answered all my questions. Ms. Lisa in the two year old room is the most nurturing, fun, energetic and kind teacher you could ever ask for. This level of transparency speaks volumes about their integrity. I didn't see this at the other schools I shopped in Austin. The level of care here makes me feel like they genuinely care about my child and are preparing him for success. He has fun and learns. Every staff member I've encountered is top notch. My son talks about Ms. Vanessa all the time and Ms. Taslim is so good at the little details.
