Have seen this place for some time, decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it's not all that happy. First of all, the service was good. My server was attentive. Started out by ordering a diet coke. When tasted it, it was flat, so I exchanged it for a strawberry lemonade that had almost no strawberry flavor. I ordered there 8oz steak with a salad. When I got salad, my blue cheese dressing was very runny. Got the steak, and it was so thin and tough that I did not enjoy it. The whole time trying to eat my meal, I was fighting several Flys. We stopped by early one Sunday morning in our ongoing tour of Diners in Southern California and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. I also love the fact that Sammy's is open at 6 AM on a Sunday as we are both early risers. My wife had the Bacon Cheddar Quesadilla and I had my standard evaluative Sausage and Eggs with a side of Biscuits and Gravy. Both my wife and I thought the food was good and is traditional American style Diner food with distinctive Mexican flavors. The service was very good this location is nearby and I always wondered if it'd be good and I went there first time and it took me by shock how amazing this food was. This place has wonderful food, but you need to regulate your cooks. I ordered a Turkey Melt, but substitute tuna (I'm allergic to most meats, and hate that, but here I am having to substitute A LOT). I paid the Turkey Melt price, but received a regular Tuna Melt with just tuna and cheese. I specifically wanted the cheese, avocado, tomato, and Ortega chillies that comes on the turkey Melt, and when the girl showed the cook, he threw on avocado and gave it back to her (cursing her a bit while doing so). The other waitress looked at me with a thumbs up, saying it's good now, and the other girl (the hostess) could only apologize because she felt bad. Needless to say, I ended up with a Tuna Melt with avocado. Sammy's is lucky to have such wonderful business among the patrons of Rialto, but if your cooks continue to be jerks to staff and customers, it could all change. So first off I ordered a salad and was told I could sample the soup to see if I wanted that instead. That never happened. I was given a soup so I decided to just eat it. I ordered the chicken dinner. At $13.99 I would expect the pieces to be big and they were not. Tiny like chicken wing pieces. Some of the pieces had try spots on them and the chicken was beyond sweet. I've never tasted chicken that was sweet. I felt like I was eating a sugary dessert. My garlic bread was missing in my order and waited 5 minutes for it to arrive. My baked potato was not cooked thoroughly. I ordered my son a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and that was yummy. On the menu it says the drink is included, but the waiter kept telling me it was not. My meal was a disaster. I have no plans in returning. read more

Was just passing by and saw that this place is now opened. It's honestly not so bad and price reasonable. I had ordered the grande skillet it came with toast, bacon, and sausage. It tasted pretty good, better than most local places I've been to. And the portion was average, I could only eat half of it because of how much came with my meal. My boyfriend had their house breakfast and the pancakes tasted good and it they were pretty big. They have lots of options on the menu. One thing I didn't like was that since it is a new business they kept the old shades from previous businesses and it was already old and breaking apart, had stains on it. I think the menu is hit or miss. The Philly Melt, appears to be a winner, at least my folks think so. The pot roast melt---------BIG SWING AND A MISS. I don't think I have ever had a pot roast that was this bland and mushy. There really wasn't any cheese to be a "melt". I would leave fewer stars, but maybe it was just an off day. Still, just to be safe.....don't order the Pot Roast Melt, you will be disappointed, unless you like very bland, very dry pot roast, with no cheese, even though it is supposed to be a melt. read more

What we found was friendly service, delicious food, reasonable prices, and local patrons. It is really your typical local diner, but the menu items were numerous and I heard more than one nearby customer raving over their meal. I ordered the shredded beef taco and relleno plate. The rice and beans were delicious, reminding me of my mom's homemade rice, and the Relleno was savory and spicy. Yum! The taco was also scrumptious with plenty of added veggies and a crispy shell.
