Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this practice even though Dr. Ebeid seems to be a competent practitioner. The pricing is not consistent, and the hassle with receiving the care sought versus the issue of getting fair pricing is no longer worth it to me. I will not visit this office again, and I felt as if I had to share this as a warning to others in need of a good, friendly, and customer care-focused professional partner in health. Do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Mark Menoukian in Greenbrae for the best endodontist in Marin. read more

Not that I would wish a procedure on anybody, if you must have a root canal, he is your man! His office is warm and friendly and Dr. Ebeid - a real mensch! He has a wonderful chairside manner and a warm demeanor. He talked me through every step of the way. He has a huge heart and I would gladly (if I had to) go back to him in a minute!!! read more

If possible, I would give -10 star to this doctor. One long weekend, I had a swollen face and on Monday I reached to this doctor's clinic with a 4 day pain... I was asked to wait, that was almost more than 2 hrs. I was seen by the doctor and he told, we will do immediate RCT. They gave me estimate of some USD 800 our of pocket after exhausting my USD 1500 insurance just for RCT base. Crown will be additional USD 1300 ... I had no choice but signing the estimate paper because of killer pain. He gave a numming injection and prescribed some medecines which took 1 hrs at Longs Drugs. Meanwhile I got another dentist reference from a colleague and offered me same RCT treatment at no cost to me. I cancelled my appointment with Samer Ebeid as he was way too much costly. My RCT was done at 0 cost to me at another doctor, but this doctor charged me some USD 500 for Emergency Treatment and believe me, GOD knows, he should have just charged some 100-150 bucks for his num injection trick. I WOULD NOT ADVISE to see this doctor bcoz of his wrong way of making money. He may be a great doctor but not a worth Human. God Bless you read more

I have had two root canals done by Dr. Ebeid in the past five years. He is, by far, the best man for the job. He is not only calm and reassuring, but highly skilled. Isabelle, his wonderful front desk lady, is professional, kind and the type of person you want to talk to when you first call in to see an endodontist. I have had other root canals in the past, one of which failed. I was nervous about that happening again but both of the treatments came out perfectly! Thank you, Dr. Ebeid. read more

I was afraid of root canals b/c of a bad experience 8 years ago. He talked to me for a long time about it and explained what he would do differently. He made me feel at ease and when the day came, the experience was just like night and day. I never felt any pain at all. He used just enough nitrous oxide to make me feel relaxed and dreamy without being out of it. The procedure took two hours but was not unpleasant, in fact the laughing gas was quite fun :-) He uses the right dosage, which is key. His staff was very professional and he was kind, funny, courteous and obviously well trained at what he does. I HIGHLY recommend this man for any oral surgery you need. This is the second time I have been to see Dr Ebeid. I first saw him in 2003 when I needed another root canal after having a horrible failed root canal a few years prior. The Dr never got me numb after 20 +shots. It was horrible. I came to him and told him I was very nervous due to my last experience. He assured me that he will absolutely be able to get me all the way numb and that he takes plenty of time for the numbing to set in. He did and he did an amazing job. This time I came to him needing yet another root canal (per my dentist). After he took a few more X-rays and did some cold testing he determined that I did not need a root canal. My teeth were rubbing from my clenching and causing my tooth or teeth to become inflamed causing my tooth pain. He sanded down the high spots this am and after pain for the last year+ my pain is already gone. I thought it would take awhile for the inflammation to go down but he told me today that if this were indeed the problem I would know fairly soon and he would call me in one week to check in on me. Thank you for saving me from having an unnecessary root canal and fixing this issue so simply. No offense, but I hope I never have to see you again Dr Ebeid but if I do I will be thrilled to have you! read more

Very professional and did a very thorough job with no complications ! Healed in the exact time he said I would. Seemed to always be there to answer any questions. read more

What a nice guy! Easily the nicest guy ever to drill holes in my head. Nothing big, really - he just took a couple extra minutes to listen and talk about the procedure. And he was careful to make it as painless as possible. (The nitrous oxide definitely helped! ;) A couple hours later and the tooth already feels much better. I hope I don't need another root canal any time soon, but if I do, I'm definitely going back. read more

Dr. Ebeid is a total professional; he is focused, knowledgeable, easy to talk to. Getting a root canal is not at the top of my bucket list. It's no fun. But, if you have to get one, it's best to have someone that can move it along and make it happen. He listened to my concerns, gave me positive feedback to keep me talking. He mitigated my pain. I am very happy being under his care and respect his process. I highly recommend him if you want someone who knows what they are doing. read more

I had to see Dr. Ebeid for a second opinion on whether or not I had a fracture, which indeed I did, and I am writing this review to rave about how well Isabella helped me out in a very tough situation. She was patient and calmed me down after a very tough day and was extremely helpful with all my needs. Every office should have an Isabella! Dr Ebeid was also very professional, only wish I had seen him for my root canals earlier this year! read more

So, I had to have a root canal 12 years ago. It was painful and fucked up. When I found out I had to have to have two more, I was nervous and apprehensive. Via Dr. Ochev, I met Samer M. Ebeid. He said: "Look, here's the deal... There is no reason that this has to be painful... I'll give you the best medication". He was right. I spent 3 hours on the chair and became calmer through time. There isn't a SINGLE thing that his entire staff could have done to be nicer to me. I am so humbled, so ingratiated and so appreciative that he fixed my teeth. read more

What a great experience from start to finish! I was in unbearable pain just a few days before Christmas and this office fit me in right on the spot even with 3 other emergencies. Dr Ebeid was super confident, incredibly knowledgeable and had good "bedside manner" and was humorous and light not mention 100% competent and compassionate. He understood my pain and fear. I relaxed immediately. I had minimal pain during the procedure and absolutely no residual pain or soreness after. This guy knows his stuff and I liked him 10,000 more times than the endodontist I used last time. His staff was warm and friendly and got my insurance info for me as I was in too much pain. Such a positive experience. I sincerely hope I never have to see these folks again but I cannot give them any higher rating. read more

Excellent. Very gentle with the anesthetic, we had a great conversation, and he has a caring professional human touch (a rare combination). His student, Mohammed Reza at Novato Smiles has that approachable humanness, too. read more

I was sent to Dr. Ebeid for a consultation for a root canal. It was a front tooth with one canal and there was calcification. To begin with he wanted to charge me $200.00 for his digital x-ray machine with is not covered by my insurance. I balked and he waived the charge for the x-ray. After he examined the tooth he said that it might take two appointments because, "he might get tired or I might get tired". I have had many root canals....never two appointments and never the special x-ray machine, (I was told that Dr. Ebeid is the only Dentist that has this machine in Marin County). Now, comes the zinger. I went to the front desk and I was given the cost for the root canal. Since he might get tired and I might get tired, (quote, unquote), the second appointment, would be $423.00 additional. The total bill would have come to $1243.00. He didn't charge me for the $200.00 x-ray...hummm. I made and appointment and after I left the office, I thought, "What in the heck is going on)? I called my dentist and said that I thought that I needed another opinion. I was referred to another Endodontist . I call and made an appointment. Now, get this! I went to the second Endodontist...one appointment for the consultation and the root canal. The cost was $610.00. It really does pay to question if one is in doubt about what they have been told. I have Delta Care insurance. If he does not like what they pay, he should not take the insurance. Now I shall write a review about the Endodonist that did my root canal. The Dr. and the office were very professional and they deserve a great review! read more

In the few times I've been in their office, each time I saw and heard a lot of anger and animosity both from patients in the waiting area and the staff. Their "miscommunications" can be seen and heard...which is not cool. The Dr. doesn't try and hide his anger when he's upset with his staff and it's very uncomfortable to listen to and be around. Dr. Ebeid runs behind schedule more often than not and it's apparent that HIS time is what matters- not yours. If you're late, watch out. Their costs overall are extraordinarily high, even for Marin. When I told them I thought the procedures were 100% covered by my insurance, I was told that I'd be refunded any money, if any, after the insurance paid their part. They also said they'd require the money upfront, before they did any work. It's normally the other way around. It was apparent they were unaware of how much was covered. I'd steer clear of this dysfunctional mess. read more

Extremely expensive place. Charging about $200 for just 5 minutes examination and then offering to waive it if the customer agrees to have root canal for more than $3 000 is a cheap policy typical for 19th century businesses. Before accepting any service first ask for the price. In general the service here is just at average(if not below). Not recommended. read more

Seems like a good dentist but beware of front office business practices. No written estimate of work upfront. They only called insurance company to ensure work will be covered after I insisted. Three months later I get bill for over $500 work not covered because of difference in charges billed and charges covered. When I called to protest bill saying I would not have the work done if I knew it wouldn't be covered by insurance I was told, "well you should know your own coverage and you signed a notice of financial responsibility so you need to pay". Not very professional! read more

It AMAZES me that nobody has written a review for Dr. Ebeid as of yet. I have had two root canals and let me just say, this guy is the best of the best. One of the procedures was more complicated than the other--he made sure to take the time and care to get it right the first time. In my case, it meant taking out a microscope to make sure every root was filled correctly. I also got a follow up call to ensure I was feeling okay a week later. Very professional and personable. Wouldn't go anywhere else for a root canal! read more

Dr. Ebeid saved me from hosptialization and serious oral surgery! I cannot recommend him or his staff enough. I live in San Mateo and before going to Dr. Ebeid, I had a previous horrible experience with a root canal by a local endodontist, having to have 2 root canals in the same tooth since the first one did not go well! When my dentist diagnosed that I would need another root canal, he highly recommended Dr. Ebeid as the best in his field despite him being 40 miles away from where I live. My experience with him and his staff was very pleasant and the procedure went fairly quickly and without any pain. Both Dr. Ebeid and his staff were very professional, courteous, caring and took the time to tell me what the problem was and how they were going to resolve it. The experince could not have been better. A year later, I needed an emergency root canal. I was dealing with some discomfort, but the pain was bareable. I had an appointment with my dentist scheduled, but decided to call Dr. Ebeid. He spoke with me on the phone and diagnosed some of the symptoms I was experiencing. The tooth was not sensitive to extreme cold as the neigboring teeth were, so he suspected the nerves may be dying. Dr. Ebeid recommended that I see him, and since his schedule was full, would stay later in the evening to see me. By the time I made it to his office, it was almost 7pm and most of his staff had already left except for an assitant. He further examined and diagnosed the tooth and not only were the nerves dead, but the infection was on the verge of spreading to the gums and jaw bone. Dr. Ebeid performed the emergency root canal and by the time I left his office it was almost 9pm! Had I waited another day, the infection would have spread and required oral surgery! I can't say enough how much I appreciate what Dr. Ebeid and his staff have done for me. They stayed late into the night to perform an emergency root canal when I did not even have an appointment. I have not had any problems with either tooth since they performed the root canals! They put their customers first and truly care about their well being. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Ebeid to anyone! He is not only a phenomenal endodontist, but a caring person as well. read more

I cannot say enough about how great this Doctor is. I had a huge abcess and infection under a baby tooth that had never come out, I am 58. My regular dentist who is very highly trained stated due to the difficulty of a root canal on a small older baby tooth that had also cracked and had a cap over it that trapped infection...Turns out my jaw bone had a huge area that was literally deteriorating, by the time the pain hit it was unreal...My Dentist stated I had at best a 5% chance of saving this tooth, and the reccomemdation was to pull it and get a handle on my huge infection. Since an implant tooth would cost around 5k I was faced with saving $ and living with a permanent whole in the side of my smile. However my dentist stated there was one doctor who might do it. Dr Ebeid. Dr Eneid took it as a challenge & the roots were so small he had a difficult time, my 1st visit was 2-3 hours intense work then I thought we were done but they echeduled a 2nd visit and I thought it was perfuntory finish up but the 2nd visit was another 2 plus hours where he found the final 2 roots. A virtual geyser of infection left my tooth after the 1st root so he wanted the infection to drain for 10 days or so between visits, finally there was a third visit to put a temp cap on, and further he was sincerely worried about the infection so scheduled follow ups to check on me and he surprisingly honored his original price another words he did not charge for return visits to make sure I came back to make sure we fixed this. He stated a number of times he just wishes to help folks and he is a teaching doctor so knows his stuff. He saved my tooth and all the staff were very kind and understanding. He does not talk during his procedure as it is very intense precise work. Simply the best attitude of any Dr I have met.Thank you Samer! I know I sound like a shill for him but sometimes above & beyond needs to be called out. read more

SEE below for insurance advice. As for Dr Ebeid, he's excellent. I'd gone to my dentist earlier in the day. My dentist told me I'd probably need a root canal. He sent me to Dr. Ebeid, whose office is in the same medical/dental building, fortunately. The front desk scheduled me for an apptmt later that day and kept me informed via phone that I might be able to get in earlier. So I had the consult (incl the $200 'digital' X-ray not covered by insurance) and then was able to get an apptmt for the following day's root canal. I am now (1.5 days later) in lesser pain (tho the procedure was painless, the pressure was intense--this caused pain after the numbness wore off. Diclofenac to the rescue, along w/ salt water rinses and Dr-provided antibiotic (for infection avoidance). The dental assistant seemed intent on doing an excellent job, 'tho in general I wish assistants/dentists would keep x-rays to a minimum--radiation is radiation. One thing I appreciated hearing from Dr. Ebeid (other than hearing my condition was completely treatable!) was that my dentist was Dr. Ebeid's student at UoP in SF; Dr. Ebeid has high regard for my dentist. Now I'm even more confident with my dentist. INSURANCE (this has nothing to do with Dr Ebeid): with dental care and insurance, know what you're getting into - Although a dentist may bill your insurance co, that doesn't mean the dentist is contracted with the insurance co. If the dentist is out of network, you may very well end up paying everything that insurance does not cover. Even if you use a dentist that has contracted with your insurance co, you can still be on the hook for some charges, and all charges once your maximum coverage is reached. Also, insurance cos are picky; for example, if you need a crown replaced before the amount of time your insurance co says the first crown should have lasted, insurance won't pay. Good to find this out ahead of time. But when one is in pain, one can be quite desperate, ending up with unforeseen/unplanned bills. One last thing, about the not-covered-by-insurance $200 X-ray (which I unhappily found out later is a kind of CTscan)- I should have asked why it's not covered and asked if the diagnosis was possible without the x-ray. I guess I believed it must be the latest and greatest and therefore worthwhile. But it makes me think-- endodontists are out there who do NOT have the machine yet are able to make correct diagnoses and perform root canals... This is a case of buyer beware, and of course, patients have choices to make and can go elsewhere if not happy with what's presented. This is not a blast against Dr. Ebeid. I am confident I got excellent care, would recommend him to others. Additionally, I now have even more confidence in my dentist after Dr. Ebeid's good words about him. I find dentistry is expensive (duh). I have probably used up my max with my recent root canal. Heaven help me to not have any more issues this year. I wrote the above review yesterday -- today is 24 June. I contacted Dr. Ebeid's office regarding a request. My request was taken care of within the next 15 minutes. Yesterday my review was four stars. Today, I've upped it to five. read more
