To charge extra $500, after root canal he placed prefabricated post for NO reason at all. It's ONLY recommended a post and core procedure when more than 50 percent of tooth's original structure is removed. In these instances, the post helps mechanically retain the dental crown and core. And the most important posts WEAKEN roots. In my case, my tooth had a pretty good structure and only in the middle there was a cavity. read more

I'm so grateful for Dr. Rhode and his staff at Marin Endodontics for their utmost care, concern and expertise in performing my root canal. I had been in serious pain for more than a week and Dr. Rhode was willing to come in on his day off to start my emergency root canal which he then was able to finish in one visit saving me both time and money. Having never had one, he explained the procedure, numb my mouth and made sure I was not feeling any pain before he efficiently completed my procedure. His office staff is friendly and competent. For those who wrote that Dr. Rohde charges too much, I have to add that he was $600.00 less than the Endodontist to whom I was referred. Dr. Rhode has now performed at least six root canals on my teeth. He is caring and so concerned during the whole procedure. I was informed as to what would happen and the next steps I should take. He cares about my teeth and makes suggestions as to what could/should happen. I always feel comfortable knowing he will take care of me. His staff is wonderful and considerate. This was my husband's experience, told in 3 acts: Act I: Check-in. The doctor was highly recommended for root canal work, but out of network. When my husband went in, they took his insurance info, checked the computer, and provided an out-of-pocket estimate of $534. Actual cost (discovered after the procedure)? $1155! Act II: The procedure. The doc spends his time singing and chatting with his assistants about the upcoming schedule, or billing issues, or the weekend plans. When my husband asks that they focus on the task at hand, he is told, with anger in the eyes, to "Shut up." Scary doctor. Act III: The conclusion. As of this writing, three months after the root canal, my husband still has pain and sensitivity on the tooth in question. A completely negative experience and one-star rating. read more

It was truly an excellent experience. In my 70+ years I have gone to many dentists and several endodonists. I was reluctant to have the work done as a previous experience on another tooth had failed and I lost that tooth, with another endodonist. I had to have a root canal and it was not only painless but the after effects were none existent. He is highly professional and tries to accommodate you. Pam is dead right. This guy never stops singing in your face. Very unprofessional and not a very good practitioner either. He rushes his needles making unnecessary displacement pain and his work is shoddy. My root canal was better before I saw him! And, if that is not enough, the quote was for half of what they charged me. Whatever they say; it will be double that amount. When they call to collect and you offer your poor experience and ask for relief they demand payment. After all that, I had to go to another dentists to straighten this guys work out! I just had a root canal done on the upper left second bicuspid. I come from literally a family of dentists, worked in my dad's office during college and managed a practice in Hawaii for a few years. I have to say that Dr. Rohde is so on top of his game that it was actually fun to watch him and his highly competent assistant work. They moved like a well-oiled machine with hesitation to do the root canal in an amazingly short amount of time plus set a post and seal the area until I can get over to my regular dentist to get the crown prepped.
