I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so that other patients can make an informed decision. In my experience, Dr. Mason Lee's implant treatment resulted in a long, painful, and expensive ordeal. My two dental implants were placed without using a surgical guide, and they ended up in positions and at angles that could not be properly restored with crowns. When I asked Dr. Lee to remove the implants and redo the entire procedure, including the necessary bone grafting, he told me he preferred not to because rebuilding the bone horizontally after removing the implants might not be successful. He also said that he did not feel confident performing that procedure and acknowledged that it was beyond his limitations. At a follow-up appointment, he offered only to remove the implants. By that point, I no longer felt comfortable continuing treatment with him and decided that I wanted another implant surgeon to handle my case from start to finish. Instead of covering the full cost of correcting the problem, Dr. Lee refunded only a portion of the fees I had paid for my treatment. As a result, I had to spend many thousands of additional dollars to have the improperly positioned implants removed, undergo bone grafting, and have two new implants placed by another surgeon. Because I had to seek treatment from another implant surgeon, the entire corrective process took approximately a year and a half. It involved removing the improperly positioned implants, performing bone grafting, allowing time for healing, and then placing two new implants in positions that allowed my treatment to move forward. This experience cost me significant additional time, money, physical pain, and emotional stress--far beyond what should have been required for what is typically a routine implant procedure. I am writing this review to help other patients understand my experience before choosing an implant surgeon. I simply do not want another patient to go through what I went through. If you are considering implant treatment, I strongly encourage you to ask whether a surgical guide will be used, discuss the treatment plan in detail, and consider obtaining a second opinion before proceeding. read more

His was lowest, but his state-of-the-art x-ray system was out of my league and not really necessary so I chose to get my own (fine with him). His office person Joanna (great!) said I needed a consultation so I booked it. Dr. Lee was very engaging, perfect "bedside" manner, asked all the right questions. He did not look into my mouth but did spend 10 minutes with me before suggesting waiting for the extraction until there was pain as an indicator. I was all in. Feedback: make sure the patient is able to stand on their own two-feet before releasing then to be moved from the office to the car and home. I have great experience with Dr. Lee. I had 4 wisdom teeth to be extracted and felt really nervous about it because noone in my family had great experience with the removal. After meeting with Dr. Lee at the consultation I knew I met the right Doctor for it. He explained catefully how it was done and what he would do to avoid overdosing and underdosing the patients and gave me all the information needed. The operation was great. I don't have any memory of it which was the whole purpose of the anesthesia. I recovered pretty quickly. Just a lot of icing and fluid and keep the stitches clean. They do offer 6 months for payment which is really great. And the cost is as good as you can get in Marin. I would totally recommend him. read more

After having so many friends, and family members tell me there painful stories of getting them pulled out, I had basically decided not to ever have it done....... So of course they start pushing my other teeth around, and if I didn't pull it soon, I would look like I was English (Yeah, I said it!) So I was referred to Dr. Lee. I go in, get my consultation, go back a few weeks later and "rippp!" I felt nothing, yes, I was asleep, but nothing. I woke up after the procedure, screwed up on some great gas, and whatever they used. I figured that it would only be a matter of time till the pain came, but I was wrong. Of all the experiences in my life which warrant 5-star reviews, I never ever thought that getting my wisdom teeth out would be one of them. I owe it all to Dr. Lee. I avoided getting this done for years, because of all the horror stories I'd heard from other people, but now I wish I'd done it sooner. The WORST part of the entire experience was sitting in the waiting room prior to the procedure, feeling nervous. After that, it was smooth sailing. The anethesiologist told me to count backwards from 3 to 1, I think I only got to 3, and the next thing I knew I was sitting up with cotton in my mouth and a cool gauze headband. How did he do that? Great Doctor, Great Staff!! My daughter recently had her wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lee. He was patient and kind. His office staff went out of their way to check on my insurance coverage while I was in the office. I have nothing but good things to say about this experience with Dr.Lee. Here we are a year later and I had to have a wisdom tooth removed!! Same great experience, except however for the older lady in the front. She seemed really confused...couldn't find my information from my dentist, gave me the wrong time for my appointment, and her directions were extremely confusing. I had to get a tooth pulled from a very old root canal, and I was terrified. Dr. Lee was recommended to me by my (also awesome!) endodontist. Am I glad I took his advice. Although not a painless process, Dr. Lee was kind, professional, and really informative about what my next steps could be. Dr. Lee is extremely skilled and knowledgeable. I had a tooth implant procedure two years ago that was painless and healed without any difficulty. I then scheduled my two teenagers to have their wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lee. They both had excellent experiences too. They healed very quickly and also had very little swelling. I had to have an emergency removal of a very pesky wisdom tooth removed last Tuesday and I called for the appointment at 8:30 on that very day. They fit me in within an hour! Not only is the staff amazing but the office has top-of-the-line equipment. I had the most horrible experiences with the office staff. No one knows what they're doing as far as billing! They blamed me for their mistakes, then blamed each other, and finally just hung up on me, even though I was trying to pay right then via my Health Savings Account. They didn't know what that was! They told me to take a pill an hour ahead of my surgery (that really made me loopy!) and then said it was my fault I failed to give them my new address. My fiance said they never asked for it. Then they sent the bill to my ex-husbands address.....a place I've NEVER lived! They didn't even call me, even though they had my correct phone number and email address. Seems like a good technician, and has a good reputation. However, re patients, this dentist becomes impatient, defensive, and rude if there are any complications after the procedure-- as if he were being personally insulted. And is resentful if there needs to be follow-up. He denied that there was an abscess after the extraction and I eventually needed to have the adjacent tooth extracted as a result. This is not an essentially kind or caring oral surgeon, my hunch is that he sees his practice first as a business. His front office staff were nice, but not happy campers, talked openly about looking for a new career (job). And I looked for a new dentist after this unfortunate experience. read more

I had a wisdom tooth removed by Dr Lee in May 2014. I found Dr Lee to be very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The whole process was completed in about 20 minutes and went very smoothly.
