Same Day Water Heater was Home Depot's authorized service provider in McKinney for the natural gas water heater we needed. Same Day was the 2nd bid. In fact, the other bid was about $600 cheaper, but wasn't planning to pull a permit until I asked about it being included in his bid. Same Day sent Seth, who was fantastic, answering all my questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner. All the pricing was above board. Without my asking, Seth stated part of the price included pulling a permit. Seth also indicated optional verse required parts, like a second shut off valve. He knew his product and installed it in less than 2 hours. I highly recommend Seth if you're looking to replace your water heater. read more

Yet another home repair this year. I tell ya, when it rains it pours! I am grateful that my water heater lasted me these past 12 years though. I reached out to Home Depot for a quote and was connected with Same Day Water Heaters. I was surprised that I was given a quote over the phone but was then told the tech that comes out will give me the final price. Makes sense. I read all the reviews while I waited and was prepared. Thanks fellow Yelpers! To be fair, everything that I was read was also explained to me by the customer service rep. I was assured that I can decline the service after the visit without being charged a fee for them to come out. Forest came out the same day to take a look at my current water heater and made his assessment. Unlike the other estimate I received prior from another service through Lowe's, he explained to me what all needed to be replaced. I was taken aback when he told me the fee to replace the expansion tank. Major upcharge from what I saw on the Home Depot website! As expected, the final price was higher than the phone quote. Despite that, I moved forward with the service because overall it still came out to about $600 lower than my first estimate. At my request, I scheduled for the actual service the next day. Forest gave me a courtesy call before arrival, and he got straight to work. He was friendly and professional throughout the whole process. Start to finish was just under 2 hours. The parts upcharge still doesn't sit right with me, but overall the service was good. They even called me the day after to follow up which is nice. Our hot water heater went out on April 6. I came home that evening to water coming out of the garage. The water heater and all the connections were installed 10 years ago. I turned off the water and the gas while my wife scrambled around with a 5 gallon bucket catching the water pouring out of the pan that was under the hot water heater. The water heater was leaking but everything else was doing its job. After getting several high quotes we decided to call Home Depot's same day water heater install. After a short conversation with them they said one of their representatives would call us back in order to give an estimate. We figured out which heater we wanted and he asked me where the heater was. I told him it was in a garage closet about 18 inches off the ground. He then gave us an estimate which would include the new heater and installation, hauling off the old one and the cost of the permit was included. He said when the installer comes to your home he will give you a final quote. The installer arrived the next morning and after looking at the job he gave me a price that was around $800 higher than the phone estimate. It had replacing the water lines and the cutoff, replacing the gas line and its cutoff, a new pan and drain pipes, install a gas sediment trap, and a charge of $199 to disconnect/reconnect the comfort pump {this only added one additional connection being disconnected and reconnected}. I asked "why are all these new parts necessary when they are in good shape and working properly?" I also asked "why was it not in the phone estimate?" He said the parts needed to be replaced to bring it up to code and said it as though they also had to be new when you install a new water heater. He never said they are old, rusty, not working properly and won't pass inspection. All my existing parts were still in good shape and dong their job. I reluctantly told them to go ahead and do the work. We will probably just add another day without hot water if I don't. The work the plumber did was good. I don't have a problem there. After he was paid and left I had time to sit down and study the confusing itemized receipt that he left. The addition in the bill was a little off. Im not sure how he got the total that we were billed. It started with the original estimate which was actually a little less than I had been told it was. It then showed $128 for the permit which according to the City of Garland only cost $88. It was also added to the original estimate which was supposed to include it. It then showed $100 worth of discounts but I can't see where they were actually deducted. The next item was $150 for an access fee which was added to the cost. I think it was deliberately misleading to not have allowed for it in the phone estimate since the man had specifically asked where the water heater was located. The rest of the receipt was a list of parts and labor that covered everything that you have to do to install the water heater plus parts. So it makes me ask the question "in the phone estimate, what was the $600+ over and above the cost of the water heater for?" All that was left was bringing the new one to my house and hauling off the old one. There should have been a large deducts to that original estimate because they were charging me again for most of the same work. Dishonest and unethical if you ask me. But I'm not finished. I looked at the city website and educated myself as to what is required by code on a water heater. I also asked the inspector to verify what is required. He said you can use the existing water lines, gas line, all cutoffs, the pan and the drain lines if they are working properly. Those parts were all OK and I was fed a bunch of bull as to why they needed to be replaced. Replacing all those parts was the basis for inflating the price so much. I feel very cheated now that I see how it all played out. After reading a lot of negative reviews about Same Day Water Heaters I see that I'm not the only one they have played this game with. read more

I received a quote over the phone which was supposed to represent a total price unless other work had to be done to bring the installation site up to code. That is a fair expectation. However when the installer arrived he quoted additional charges for the feed line and shutoff valve. I asked why they had to be replaced and was told replacing them was standard on an install and it would add another $350 to the job. If they are standard items they should be quoted up front. I was connected to Same Day Water Heaters through Home Depot. It's always nerve wracking to pick a plumber, so I felt safe having Home Depot's support behind this company. I entered my request for a quote in the Home Depot system and I was called within 30 minutes from Same Day Water Heaters. There were no pressure tactics during the call with Same Day Water Heaters. We talked through my issues, and I was provided with a beginning estimate and told that this cost will go up when the plumbers arrive based on what might need to be changed with connections, etc. I appreciated the honesty and professionalism of the person I was speaking with. I was told that when the plumbers arrived, they would make the final estimate for me, and I could also just say no and stop the job. If I stopped there would be no charge for the visit. The plumbers arrived and gave me an updated cost for the actual plumbing changes that needed to be added. I signed the agreement, and the guys got right to work. Start to finish it was about 3 hours to remove and install two hot water tanks. They protected my carpets, kept their work area clean and ensured the space was clean when they left. They provided me with instructions on how to operate them and asked if I had any additional questions. The guys were very professional, and I felt totally comfortable with them in my home. This complaint is against "Same Day Water Heaters". While "Same Day Water Heaters" did the installation, my credit card was charged by Home Depot. On May 8, 2025, I picked out a 40 Gallon Rheem water heater for my home at Home Depot ($679.00). While in the store, Home Depot recommended and called "Same Day Water Heaters" (Installers for Home Depot). They called and then handed me the phone to get a quote for installation. "Same Day Water Heaters" gave me the installation price of $610.00 over the phone with a statement "it could be a little more, depending on city code. When "Same Day Water Heaters" showed up for the install, they doubled the cost of the water heater from $679.00 to 1261.87 and increased the installation cost from $610.00 to $1148.25. What should have costed me $1289.00 ended up costing me $2410.12. Their explanation; "everything they were doing was to bring me up to code". This was not true. When the city inspector came to inspect the installation, I confirmed with him what was required by code and what was not. * "Same Day Water Heaters" installed and charged for unnecessary items not required by code. * "Same Day Water Heaters" changed and charged for existing equipment that were not required to be change by code. * "Same Day Water Heaters" increased the cost of the water heater from Home Depot cost of $679.00 to $1261.87. I did notice that there are other reviews online with the same complaint as mine. So, where there is smoke, there is usually fire. In fairness, I did endeavor to work with "Same Day Water Heaters" to settle these problems. After 6 weeks, they did offer to reimburse some of my complaints but not all of them. This was not logical as the offered to reimburse the materials for the unnecessary T&P line but not the installation cost of the unnecessary T&P line. I refused their offer as it still was not fair. This is simply "buyer beware"!! I will never purchase any major equipment from Home Depot again. Nor, will I recommend or use Home Depot or "Same Day Water Heaters" again. read more

Called SDWH to install a water heater. Was quoted about $800 for the installation of an $800 water heater. It was upstairs and we told the dispatcher. It was in Carrollton, Texas, and we told this to the dispatcher. When the installer came out, the quoted price from the dispatcher was just a load of bull. The actual price to install was over $1600. We were told by the dispatcher that the price could be as much as $1150, but not $1600. I would have definitely got additional quotes. We chose SDWH because they were recommended by Home Depot. We actually bought our water heater and had it delivered without a contract to install it, but contacted SDWH because HD recommended them. The bottom line is that I am allowing SDWH to complete the installation because not having hot water has been a royal pain, but I would NOT recommend them for anyone else. One good news item: HD and SDWH give a 30-day warranty on their price. (According to the installer) If you find a cheaper install price, HD will match the price and refund you the difference. Also, if the inspector tells you that the plumber installed something that wasn't necessary and said it was due to code, you can complain to SDWH and others have had the difference refunded, I consider what happened to me a BAIT AND SWITCH situation. The dispatchers need to do a better job of quoting based upon past installs and updated codes. Depending upon the plumber to quote once he gets here is really ludicrous. read more

I was quoted by Home Depot to install two hot water heaters for my home being proactive because they are perfectly working then year old units. The install quote was $2600 total and they told me there "may" be additional costs of parts like pipes, fittings, tubes, valves that could add from $50-$200 depending on the situation when they get here. They were supposed to arrive this afternoon, they showed up first thing in the morning. I told them to pull out back, they pulled up front. I told them I didn't want them to walk through the side yard because my sprinklers just came on and it was muddy-not wanting to clean up mud in the garage and attic and they still did it their way. Do NOT let these people in your home!! 1. Lied about work to be done. Replaced items claiming to be city code, and in speaking to City Inspector, (I have a recording), he stated none of those things changed, were required by city code. 2. Altered the two part form AFTER I signed it. Fraud 3. Damaged the drip pan in which to drain the tank. Fraud 4. Did NOT properly ground the tank, which could have ELECTROCUTED ME. Life endangerment. 5. Instead of draining the tank down the alley, the plumber drained it on my driveway, thus staining it. SDWH said they would power wash it, but I have to still pay for it because I have to provide the Water and Electricity. 6. Stole the copper from my property because it did NOT need to be replaced per City Inspector. I was overcharged more than $1,000.00 due to their plumber defrauding me! In order to get the credit for the fraud, they claim I have to sign a release. WHY? They committed the faud. I am contacting my bank to reverse the charges. The service and quality of my hot water heater installation was good however the cost of installation was 35% more than the quote. This company gives low ball quotes knowing that most people will not cancel the install after they arrive with the equipment. They also dont know how to keep a schedule because they called me first thing in the morning on the day of installation after I told them that I would not be home until later in the afternoon. She quoted prices based on exact water heater, including cost of the water heater itself. She quoted the installation cost and knew all necessary extras to be code compliant in my city (expansion bladder) and gave me a price with a small caveat that it could be a bit more to extend pipes etc. Further she and i discussed the location of the water heater (in the attic on the second floor up attic stairs). We found both our water heaters are down on Friday night and needed an urgent replacement, so I called local home depot and connected with same day water heaters. The whole process was straight forward and fast, i picked the model and scheduled the next day installation. Scheduling was easy (though I did have to call Home Depot to ask which company would be coming out to do the work and that's on Home Depot). I received a call about 30 minutes before arrival and their cleanup was perfect. No unexpected fees or issues. I strongly recommend using this company and maybe booking through Home Depot too. I needed to replace 1 of my 2 hot water heaters located in the garage due to a leak in one of the tanks. I was referred to SDWH from Home Depot. I wanted to purchase the Rheem 50 gal. 12 yrs warranty gas hot water heater and I was quoted $1,160 total on the phone for parts, labor, and permit. The quote over the phone mentioned you could have additional charges of a few dollars to a few hundred dollars depending on local code requirements. Sounds reasonable so I said ok. The plumbers arrived and the total in-person estimate came to $2,060 to bring everything up to "code" and "pass inspection". The installers stated that if they didn't do the additional work it wouldn't pass inspection when the inspector comes out to inspect their work (they even gave me a specific day the inspector would be at my home). I was shocked that my total ended up being nearly double what I was quoted on the phone, but I put my trust in them that this had to be done or it would fail inspection. The inspection date came and went with no inspector and after waiting for 10 days past the inspection date with hearing nothing from the inspector I decided to call the city and county inspection offices and found out the following. 1. The county in which I live does not require a permit and they do not inspect hot water heater replacements and they do not require any additional parts to be changed or added when replacing a hot water heater. 2. The area of the county I live in is in an "incorporated" area therefore it is not subject to any city building code requirements as far as hot water heaters go. SDWH charged me $100 dollars for a permit that does not exist with the county or city and they up-charged me nearly $1,000 for parts and labor that are not required. I'm in the process of disputing the additional charges with SDWH. We'll see how this goes. I honestly had my guard down with this company from the get-go since I went thru The Home Depot to use them. That was my mistake. Update 9/2021: SDWH reached out to me and stated their permit department is looking into the building code issue since I am located in Unincorporated Denton County. Once the permit department determined that not all of the items were needed they agreed to refund me $511 which was acceptable to me. There were some items that were not included in the initial estimate that were still needed to meet the manufactures warranty and requirements. read more
