I have taken my car to this shop for five years now, and even now I still make special trips from LA if I can. I've recommended this place to all my friends because they do honest work at ridiculously inexpensive rates and have fast turnaround times. I've taken my car in for everything from oil changes to brake pad replacements and engine fix-ups. Whatever the problem is, it never costs me more than a few hundred for something severe. What I love about this place is that they don't nickel and dime you for small things, they've replaced bulbs or taken a look at electric wiring issues for me free of charge, they run their business with integrity. One day, I took my car to Pep Boys on a whim and they told me that my struts needed to be replaced, they quoted me around $2k for parts and labor and told me that it would take about five days to turn around. Being a busy college student, I obviously didn't have that kind of time or money to drop. I took my car to Samco on a Friday afternoon and it was done by Sunday morning. He charged me something like $350 for parts and labor. I can't tell you how grateful I am for Tom Lee and his team of mechanics. They are just a bunch of honest guys who know what they're doing. It's true that this place is just a garage, and not much for looks, it's intimidating because there are scrappy cars in the parking lot it's facing. A lady I met at Walmart recommended Tom's shop to me. She indicated that she has been going there for years for oil changes on her BMW 330i. Since she and I drive the same car, I figured it will be a good idea for me to try this out. Tom was very knowledgeable about E46 BMW's. He knows all the little quirks, and common quality issues that can occur with this model. He changed my brake rotors and pads with very reasonable price. I had to purchase the parts from internet because I got a better price on parts. He also changed my rack-and-pinion set since the bushings were cracked. The job was done quickly and swiftly. His wife even drove my wife home so that my wife didn't have to wait at the shop. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience here. I will be going again for my next oil change. read more

Sure they may be a little more sketchy than other American mechanics that will charge you a hand and leg for their per hour service including taking a long 2 hour lunch like the ones at Pepboys. Samco's parts may not be as comparable to that of those at the auto dealership or authentic stores but as long as it works why does it really matter right? These guys do honest work and they barely rest, and when they do, they'll have someone else jump in to take over the work. I watched them work for 2 days (10+ hours) of straight up watching them do the work closeup and personal. I even hopped in my 02 Volkswagen multiple times to help their short handed staff. My VW needed an alternator replacement which they charged me $240 for everything (parts and labor) while pepboys quoted me $350 labor and $200+ for parts, other mechanics quoted me around the same. The choice was pretty clear who to go to when you're a college student. They also had a starter installed for $120 so my car won't die in the middle of the road. I have a 2 year warrantee on the latter and 1 year on the first. Samco is family owned, Tom is the boss and you might feel a little under-serviced at first because he's so busy doing everything from management to taking phone calls, to handling new incoming clients, etc so you won't get the "hello, welcome what can I do for you today" at first but nevermind that because you're there to be NOT ripped off by auto mechanics. I immediately recommended my friend who needed his brakes serviced for 07 Nissan and even my friend said they were very friendly and had great and quick unbeatable service compared to autozone or pepboys. 5/5 would come again. FYI, these guys will do motor oil change for cheap if you bring in the motor oil (i.e. $70 for full synthetic oil change, $15 if you bring the motor oil and they'll change it for you.) 5/5 would definitely come here again for future service. read more

Brought in a European car that they fixed in a day. A week later the problem emerged again and I took it back. They ended up finding the true root of the problem and it ended up taking a few days so they could take their time to make sure they did a quality job. I can tell it was a real piece of work but they worked together to determine and reach a solution. Honest, quality work at good prices. There is a hanging sign that reads something like: "If it is fast and cheap it won't be good If it is good and cheap it won't be fast If it is good and fast it won't be cheap" I have found this place to be very fair, as is spoken with the words above. read more

Just had additional work done to my 2006 Lexus is250. Every other shop quoted between $2400 - $3000 for a transmission rebuild/replace with used low mileage transmission. Samco did the work for a little over $1700. Also fixed fast right blinker issue and only driver's side window rolling down issue for free. Fast, reasonable, honest. What else can you ask for? Went there a few months ago to fix the clutch in my truck. They tore up my carpet and did more damage to my truck then fixed it. They caused my check engine light to come on and made me pay for there mistake. I had my check engine light fix by a authorized Nissan auto dealer a few monthes prior to my Samco experience and they did something to my truck that made the issue pop up again. Also my sister took her car there to fix the smell of gasoline in her car and we found out later they used CRAZY GLUE to fix her car. These people are nice but they have no idea what they are doing. I don't know how they are in business. AND for some reason I had ants crawling all and my car for weeks after leaving my truck there. Fair warning to all. read more
