It's not you're average autoshop chain. This is a very personal business with very nice workers. They do what needs to be done, and doesnt push you any further with prices or problems. The price here is super great considering the services you get done. I will take here than other big chain autoshops. I got an oil change and it was quick. I loved that I was able to walk in and it didn't take very long for them to get started. They also have a seating area inside with a coffee bar. Today I went to this auto shop to get my signal light fixed. I encountered an employee with an extremely rude attitude -- downright disrespectful. I asked him to fix the signal light, and he told me to go to the dealer instead. I said I didn't have time to go to the dealer, and he replied, "We don't fix that kind of stuff here." It seemed like either he didn't know how to fix it or he didn't care because fixing a signal light doesn't bring in much money. With that kind of attitude, I asked, "Maybe you don't need customers?" I then asked for his name, and he responded, "Why do you need my name?" in a hostile tone and even looked like he was about to attack me. I asked to speak to the manager, and a woman came out -- she didn't seem to know what had happened but immediately defended the employee, saying he did nothing wrong. They didn't charge me anything, but with that attitude and level of professionalism, I give this shop 0 stars. Do not ever go to this auto repair shop. read more

They always quote me a fair price and are transparent with what needs to be done and why. They usually show me the old part they replaced and explain what was done. Horrible service run by young people. Previously, I posted a review about my bad alternator. Well, before replacing the alternator they did a major tune-up on my car because of engine misfiring. They charged me big money for it. Today my car failed smog check because of misfiring so I took my car to another mechanic shop to do check up. My mechanic told me that Frank Auto Repair only replaced one ignition coil. I was pissed when I heard this. Why one? I was charged at least $1200 for the major tune-up to fix my engine misfire problem. I'm really pissed. I don't know why they didn't replace all of them all. BTW, the alternator that they replaced on my car failed diode test performed by Autozone as I suspected. The failed diodes fails to stop the current flowing back to the alterntor coil, causing the battery to drain. After I replaced my new alternator again, my battery drained problem disappeared since then. I don't mind paying people the money for the job. I didn't bother to bargain at all when I came to them. As long as my problem is solved and not wasting my time I was fine with the amount they gave me. Improvement suggestion to owner: My advice to you is ... if you take people money do good job at it, be honest about the problem. I wasted another $1k today to replace the ignition coils and lots of times too. Your practice of business is unreliable. I don't mean to talk bad about your business, but I really had a very bad experience. read more

Sorry Frank, you almost killed me! I had been a loyal customer a while ago, our family bringing in our cars for service, and having them done with no funny business... we thought we'd finally found a trust worthy mechanic. One day, I brought my old Dodge Ram in to change out the front brake pads... it was due time, and I was going on a trip to San Diego. Dropped it off, had it back in 3 hours... great! Now mind you, I was visiting some family in the Rancho San Diego area, which has hilly windy roads. I was just leaving their house when my brakes starting making this horrible, metal-on-metal grinding sound which I felt in the pedal and in my seat (and I was on a downhill slope). I immediately turned around and slowly made my way back. Fortunately, I had an uncle who knew cars, and we took off the front wheels to find out that the original brakes were still there! My uncle was able to install new brake pads, but we had to take the rotors to get machined. Booo! 0 stars for you! Stay away from this place. read more

brought a vehicle to Frank's with no power steering.Mechanic diagnosed that power steering pump was bad,it was not circulating fluid and that it needed to be replaced. recieved quote for new pump plus install for 380.00 out the door. accepted quote and Frank's performed the service.Next day recieved a call stating the vehicle was ready for pickup. arrived at frank's and went to pay for services, at that time was told i need to pay extra 50.00 dollars because the parts people they recieved the new pump from didnt accept the pump that was taken off the vehicle as core exchange. that they need the original pump. and if i dont pay i wont get my vehicle. Looks like Frank's gonna have to get some legal counsel. read more

I got my car towed here to get a radiator replaced. Came to pick it up and all is fine until I got home. Then all of a sudden I start seeing a lite pink fluid dripping from the front of my car, only to find out it's transmission fluid that is dripping from the new radiator that just got installed a day ago. Most people don't know that transmission fluid needs to be cooled and there's a separate compartment in the radiator for the transmission fluid. Trans. fluid goes in, gets cooled then goes back to tranny. So I suspect that they either didn't tighten the hose or the tranny fluid side is leaking on the new radiator. On top of it all, I got my oil changed & they forgot the reset the oil sensor light on the car. When I told him that the sensor needs to be reset, the mechanic went & broke the cap to cover the sensors. WTF are you doing to people's cars? I feel that they break shit on purpose so you can take your car back to spend some more money to get something else fixed. This place is GARBAGE!!! read more

I have a same problem with Frank's Auto Center! They quote me the price for changing break sensors and reset light. But at the end they can't turn the light off so told me to go some where else, where I have to pay again. If you want to fix the car at this auto shop or one of viet's shop, please tell them to give you an written estimate/contract instead of verbal contract. read more

I started bringing my 2004 Honda Accord for a repair and he quoted me on the phone as $320.00 and I told me I would take my car for repair. I left it and got a call back letting me know the repair would cost me $ 220.00 even after I had accepted the higher quote and from there on I have been taking my car there, plus it makes it better that's walking distance to where I live. They repaired the wires of my car for my engine when they were completely eaten by rats. The engine worked again like new. No place is perfect, and sometimes places make mistakes so I can understand the bad reviews. But for me they have always been stellar and the prices are just really fair. Mr. Frank is a very polite and professional owner of Frank's Computerized Auto Center. I remember in 2005 I had some problems with my 1991 Toyota Celica. I put my car in different Vietnamese auto repair shops in Little Saigon but the mechanics of those places did not do a good job on my car (an auto shop right at the corner of Brookhurst and a small street that I can't remember the name, across the street from Van Bakery, another auto shop name Sunny Auto repair on Westminster near Golden West, actually one of the mechanic of "Sunny" , a very skinny and about 5'3'' man,stole some of my money (few quarters that I put in a small plastic bag in a built-in box in my car, I knew he did that because I spared those changes for my laundrymat place and after they fixed my car those changes disappeared!). Both of these auto shops ripped me off a lot of money and my car still didn't run very well. Eventually I found Frank's Computerized Auto Center on Bolsa avenue (the address is 4525 W 1st Street) and the owner was very helpful in talking to me about my car's problem and he asked me to wait in a waiting room, then he asked two of his experience mechanics work on my car. It took both of them about more than 3 hours to fix my car (they changed the timing belt, the parts that were related to the front wheel, some other things that I forget the names, and one of the mechanic even wash my car's engine with a water hose), after that the owner, Mr. Frank, showed me the bill that I thought was very reasonable. I paid him the money and drove away with my car. AND THE WONDERFUL THING IS THAT SINCE THAT DAY IN 2005 UNTIL NOW 2011, MY CAR 1991 TOYOTA CELICA HAS BEEN RUNNING VERY WELL. Frank's Computerized Auto Center is an EXCELLENT PLACE. I feel so thankful to their service because they found the real problems with my car and didn't try to rip me off like other Vietnamese auto places. They are honest and experience people.
