Andy & Darlene (the owners - hence A&D) have serviced many vehicles for multiple generations of our family. We're a large extended family too! Usually when you look for a mechanic, you want one that will turn you away more than they reel you in, and that is exactly how Andy runs their shop. He knows I have an aging car so we often discuss what is worth and not worth fixing at this point in time. On the rare occasion that he does have to repair my car beyond a routine oil change, he would go out of his way to inspect other areas as a courtesy (complimentary) that other shops would charge diagnostics for. It's a shame that there are some old complaints in these reviews because this shop has been a pillar of the community. Opened around the time I was born actually, so to claim that they are "out to get people" is disingenuous, it is clear that being open for 3 decades and counting means they are in it for the long haul - their reputation is all they have. I'm sure if there were some misunderstandings, speaking with them instead of running to Yelp would solve every issue. I went to A&D Auto Center change the oil and the rear light bulb of my Honda Civic. Andy helped me very quickly because he knew I had to go to work. Then he checked the light bulb and said it was a loose wire, not burned out. He changed the oil, refilled the tank (the water was low)... I only had to pay for the oil change. Very satisfied with the services here at this auto center. I got introduced to this place by my parents. Since then I always brought my car to them. I got my car fixed after I got into an accident and today I went to them for a front brake and oil changed. So far I trust this place and have them taken care of my car. Andy (owner) always gave me good and helpful tips and informations to maintaining my car. The place is narrow sometimes because others parked cars and there are other shops in the same area, so it looks more crowded. However, when you drive in to his shop, just parked the car and let him know what you come for and he will take care of it. Ask him anything about car and with his knowledge....he will try his best to help. Very dishonest shop owner Andy. My mom was in an accident where the 16 yr old girl just got her driver license and she changed to right lane and hit my mom 's car so hard on the right front bumper which was a total mess. My mom's friend gave us A&D auto shop 's number for towing because she saw its advertisements lots of times on Asian channel 18.12 IBC . My mom went ahead and let Andy fixed the car and our insurance agent contacted them. Andy and his wife were nice and explained how they were going to fix my mom's car. We are ladies and know nothing about cars. His wife even took my mom back home while I was away in school. They were nice but OMG, they did horrible job in painting the car which only 1 year, the pain started peeling off especially at the corners of the front bumper. They also charged about $7000 total cost of repairing and painting the car which luckily we did not pay anything. It was unacceptable for a business like this to get people's trusts easily and did very poorly. Please Don't Come Here if you don't want to pay extra for horrible and expensive services. Now we had to pay extra $$ at top service and honest (Fix Auto body shop in Irvine ) for repainting the front bumper. This sorry excuse for a man takes advantage of women who don't speak English very well. I've been here multiple times and seen him lie directly to the customers face while happily taking their money and then performing shoddy and dangerous half assed work. Come in for a tire change, better make sure he remembers to tighten your bolts, come in for an oil change, better make sure he doesn't strip all the threading in your gasket so that you end up having to buy a new one. Many of you have mothers or sisters who may find their way here one day, and they're going to end up being taken advantage of just like the majority of his customers. This "man" doesn't get in trouble because the people he takes advantage of are nice people who most likely aren't confrontational, so as long as he doesn't get in trouble for his shadiness he'll continue to take advantage of people. Andy likes to act like a good honest guy, but I see right through him, he's nothing but a dishonest person who takes money from good hard working people, while at the same time putting them into danger, or causing their original car problems to become worse ones. If you want peace of mind that your car will be fixed correctly, don't come here, it'll only bring more frustration and bear you more costs. read more

OMG, I'm deadly dearly so wrong for as long as I live for being readings all good reviews from who know where on earth's that star they getting from???? So I brought my car for oil leaked from head gasket need to be fix for two days and then when the car shop owner call ready to pick up, but then when I arrived to shop then owner said your car power steering going badly with a lot of noise who knows where it coming from?? ( not to mention when I bring car there and absolutely no problem with the power steering at all ) and now he told me power steering needs replaced??? What the hell? WTK? But then I have no choice because I'm already there at the shop, and the end up my billing repairs went to ceiling from hundreds to thousands?? .So I have had with this car repairs shop ripped off with the parts from good to bad = repairs + replaced.. AC blows hot air. Took it too Pep Boys initially, they charger me $60 for diagnostic only (did not fix anything) and claimed that the electronic control module was the issue and a new one would cost $500 or more and I had to wait for them to order it. I took my car to. A&D after and they immediately found the issue which was a leaking metal pipe. They took the pipe out, welded it, and had the AC fully functional for me the day after all for just $325. 11/10 highly recommend. read more

If you're looking for an honest mechanic with the best rates you can find, you've hit the jackpot! I only became responsible for my own car this year, and as a young female who knows nothing about cars, I've been really anxious about auto shops scamming me for all I'm worth. I finally made myself get my car looked at before it exploded, and Andy was more help than I could have hoped for. I told him I didn't know what was wrong with my car other than needing an oil change, so he said he'd take a look and was kind enough to give me a water bottle while I waited. I've pretty much been ignoring my car's maintenance as if not thinking about it would prevent anything from going wrong, and expected to pay a ton for it in repairs now. When he came back he told me he would change my oil, but there were so many problems with my car that it would be better if I saved my money for another car instead. I was more surprised that he was telling me this than the news itself! He pointed out to me which parts were broken, how much he'd charge to repair, and gave me a timeframe on how long I could keep driving my car safely (so I'd know how much time I have to save up). He also told me I needed to replace at least two of my tires asap but he didn't have them, and pointed me to Lee's USA Tire Club up the block to buy used ones for a good deal. After he changed my oil, he then taught me how to check it myself and let me keep his rag for wiping the oil stick off. I'm still floored by the level of personal caring. Even with finding out my car is a garbage death trap, I'm still thrilled about having found an auto center I can trust! I was showing my father the local attractions when my radiator over heated and started spraying fluid everywhere. We happened to be in Westminster (about 30 mins from my home), so I yelped mechanics and saw A&D had good reviews. I called them and they offered to take care of us right away. Andy gave me a very reasonable quote and said it would be ready within a few hrs. Unfortunately, my car suffered a few years of snowy conditions out east and is very rusty. As soon as he saw the job would take longer than expected due to rust, he called me and gave me the new time frame. He still had it ready within a day and stuck with his initial quoted price despite the job taking longer than initially expected. Even though it is a drive for me to get my car to him, Andy's honesty and attention to detail has made me a loyal customer. I was referred to A & D by a friend after a run in with some freeway debris, literally. I called in and dropped off my car that morning. I met with Alex who inspected my car and gave me a rough estimate of the damages from what he could see. From there, I reported the claim to the insurance company. They sent out an adjuster and Andy, the head honcho, handled the rest. From drop off to pick up was about 8 days. And that's with a car that was towed to the shop and in undrivabe condition. Great service. Good attitude. I will definitely be coming back for any of my auto repair needs. read more

I had gotten 5 estimates done to repair my bumper (wife did it, not me!), and Alex offered the most competitive price. He also offered the fastest turnaround time (24 hrs), and even stayed 30 minutes past his closing time to accommodate me. I picked up my car within 24 hours of dropping it off, and the repair was awesome. Came here on August 6th to get an oil change and to install all 4 tires on my 2001 Acura TL: (1) Oil change - $60; he stripped my threading for the oil pan plug which is now going to require a completely new oil pan (2) Tire installation: Now this is where it became extremely dangerous and showed gross negligence. I've been driving for a week and have been hearing strange noises coming from the back of my car--I did not have time to go back to get this looked at, so I had my boyfriend's dad, whom used to be a mechanic to take a look at the issue. That's when he found out all 5 lug nuts on my left rear tire were completely loose (you could turn the lug nuts with your bare hands), they did not bother to tighten them. This is extremely dangerous because I have been driving on the freeway for 4 days not knowing that they screwed this up badly. The tires could've came off on the freeway and caused me to wreck plus fatal injuries to those who could have been possibly hit by the tires that's traveling 65 mph+. He also charged me $560 (included $60 labor) instead of $277 for all 4 tires plus $60 for labor which is around $330 total. He specifically told me the tires would cost $500 just from ordering at a tire warehouse, however he left the order sheet inside my car and this is when I found out that the tires only cost $277.64 total. This wasn't my only bad experience with this shop. Another time I went to get my radiator coolant filled and the mechanic did not close my radiator cap and sent me on my way. This then caused hot coolant to shoot out of my radiator and overheat my car. I had also witnessed him taking advantage of another customer who came in to get her AC fixed. After she had her AC "fixed" she left and came back with a complaint that the AC felt no different. He waived her off and insured her that it was fixed and the problem she's experiencing is just normal due to weather temperature from outside. This is total bullshit. If you care for your own safety and safety of others and your vehicle, do not give this place any business. They will mess up and then blame you or waive it off like it's no big deal even though you paid money for the service and expect it to be done well. Untrustworthy, possible scammer and negligent-- this is how I would describe this place as a whole after coming here on multiple occasions for smaller problems that should've been fixed but were instead half-assed attempt of fixing your car and charging you ridiculous amounts. read more

I have been going to A&D for over four years, and within those four years the owners, Andy and Alex (brothers), have always welcomed me with open arms. From a simple oil change, to fixing my entire car from an accident. They collaborated with AAA and finished my car in the estimated time frame. Its a smaller mom and pop shop, but the owner gives straight answers, is thorough and knowledgable. I was involved in an accident with my Mercedes and was referred to this place for body repair. Needless to say, I was skeptical since I had never heard of them and I live several hours away. I usually only go to a Mercedes dealer. Well, Andy was the best! I could tell right away that he had integrity and was trustworthy. I brought my Honda Accord 2006 to this shop to change timing belt. Unfortunately, I had very bad experience because the owner was NOT honest. He gave me a quote of $720 for both labor and DEALER parts. I fixed at his shop because he promised to use DEALER parts. When I picked up my car, I asked him to write down that he changed with dealer parts, but he just wrote "OEM". When my brother called him, he said that OEM is Honda part; and he told us that if we checked with the flash light, we will see the brand "Honda" on the parts. How could we check anything beside the Serpentine Drive Belt? Sadly, when we checked the Serpentine Drive Belt and it is NOT Honda part (it is a cheap Bando belt). If he did not use Honda part for the belt, I did not think he used Honda parts for others components. Nor did he changed all the parts as he promised. We called and asked him nicely to show us the invoice, but he refused and raised his voice. If he was honest, he could show me the invoice. After,I know what he did to my car, I check my brother car, which he replaced the starter(also promised honda part). It is not either. He has all 5 stars reviews before; I just wonder, how lucky they were. I think he should remove it from his ads. read more

I simply needed an oil change but turns out that the place I brought it to last over torqued the drain plug fusing the washer to the drain bolt but Andy went out of his way to fix the issue and he uses top quality synthetic oil in his oil changes. I was new to the orange county area and had a hard time finding a good honest mechanic. The 1st guy I kept trying to oversell me and over charge me and put cheap oil in my car. I'm glad to find someone in orange county that uses quality synthethic oil in my car so I can have an oil change every 5k miles instead of 3k miles. I had my transmission fluid change, drive belt replaced, air filter, spark plugs, and tires rotated for a low price. The transmission fluid he used was also OEM. I now have him servicing my car as well as my wife's car. read more

I told him to go ahead and fix it. Low and behold he had some amazingly good news for me, it was a wiring problem. He saved me $2000. I was so happy that I actually cried. How often do you get a mechanic that you can actually trust? Took my car back again this week to have the power windows fixed and also asked him to check my A/C since it hadn't worked for many years. I was told it was going to be expensive for the problem with the A/C so I said just fix the windows. He called to tell me he could fix EVERYTHING for $500. At first I bring my car to Andy or Alex at A&D Auto, they fix my front bumper okay I'm satisfy that's why I coming back for the 2nd times they do like sh****T fack up my car, they put after market bumper but the cut still open no detail and make a scratch on my trunk, they didn't say sorry anything and i ask them to touch up the paint they ignore and when they paint the bumper make mess on my left side passenger door the paint feel rough.
